Also, here's a thought. The entrance to the arena you fight Demise in is the same place the triforce landed in the present. So is it possible that the place you fight him is actually the Sacred Realm?
Doubt it. I just figured Demise created it. I mean, he did say he was going to create a battleground for Link, then left a portal to it. So really, it could have been anywhere.

As far as the shield, no, it's not useless. Actually, I'm fairly certain that if you let Ghirahim take your sword during the first two battles with him, there's no way to get it back unless you shield bash it out of his hands. Don't quote me on that, though; I've only let it happen once to see what happens, and I shield bashed as soon as possible, so I don't know if that's the only way to get it back or not. Seems like it, but then again, with a breakable shield, they probably wouldn't want to shanghai the player like that.

But yeah, the shield's useful. Without it, several enemies are more tedious to defeat. Sure, you can try to claim "superiority" by having beaten almost the entire game by not using the shield, but all that makes me do is sit here and laugh at you for putting yourself through more trouble than it was worth. icon_razz.gif

You do realize that timing a shield bash correctly will stun melee enemies, right? I was doing that against Demise but a couple miss timings resulted in them being broken pretty fast (Successful counter with a shield bash results in no damage being dealt to your shield). After shield bashing you can usually get one or 2 hits in if your fast enough, once I ran out of shields I had to think of a new way to kill him and ended up parrying his attacks which very often left him open to one or 2 attacks.

The problem with this is you have to be very quick to parry immediately after getting your hits in or else you WILL get hurt. I also like how he looked pretty much how Tekken final bosses look xD

The Boss Rush earns you 2,500 rupees for fully completing it during first playthough. Not sure if it changes during Hero Mode other then adding Demise to the roster as well as presumably Girahims final fight.

Well, when I went against him the first time, I was hesitant to use my shield too because I only had the Goddess Shield with me and that breaks after like two hits if you time it wrong. And like I said before, I always had issues with the electric sword too so stunning him with the shield wouldn't really help there. Of course now, he's sort of pathetic..

The final Ghirahim fight is there for me on the regular mode and it definitely gives me 3000 rupees for completing all of them. Demise is only in the Hero Mode version (and actually easier. The Horde Battle is insanely hard though). I hear you get 9900 rupees for completing it on Hero Mode as well, but I've never done it.

Funny thing was, I tried doing a Skyward Strike 2 or 3 times, thinking I'd get a lightning sword, but Link never held up the sword, so I figured only Demise could do that. So I beat him without using the lightning at all. Just get close, wait for him to attack, get a quick swipe in and backflip out of the way of his counter attack.

I got it early on so I knew it'd work, but yeah, the sensor really sucks for that battle for some reason. Demise also goes nuts the second Link raises his sword anyhow..

Ghirahim will actually throw the sword at you, so if you don't have a shield, you can dodge it and then pick it up off the ground. I was messing around and that happened once.

Aha, interesting. I actually found his dialogue kind of funny when he takes the sword from you. icon_heh.gif

Guys. You know how Ballad of the Goddess backwards is Zelda's theme? The final boss music backwards has Ganondorf's theme in the background:

My mind had just been blown.

Mine hasn't. I maintain that yes, the pacing sounds similar to Ganondorf's theme, but it's not the same. Maybe intended, maybe coincidence, but they just don't sound like the same notes.

You mean Sacred Shield? And you use Wooden shield when he gets his lightning sword icon_smile.gif

Nope, Goddess Shield, it's like the Level 3 of the Sacred Shield. It's shown here somewhere: http://www.zeldadung...rd-upgrades.php

So I just beat the game today icon_biggrin.gif so awesome.

Also, I don't believe that Demise becomes Ganondorf, his threat to return
kept coming true for a long time until SS Link's Triforce Wish.

Ganondorf made his own threat to return in TP, and OoT/WW Ganondorf
only stayed alive through owning the ToP

Um, it's pretty much confirmed that Demise becomes Ganondorf. Nintendo even stated that SS would explain why Ganondorf is in OoT. So there. Not to mention, Link's Triforce Wish happened in an alternate timeline. They went back in time after that, changing the past. Remember that Link's Triforce Wish destroyed Demise when he was still in the form of The Imprisoned, meaning that that event doesn't happen after Link defeats Demise, but rather in an alternate timeline. Meaning that SS split the timeline again, just like OoT. Which means we might have THREE timelines to deal with now... Yikes.

Plus, since Link never talks, we never know what he might have said. Demise, however, said that his hatred is what will reincarnate into a new demon that will return time and time again, so in theory, Ganon (or the spirit) is a separate entity from Demise that was once part of him. And since that was made in the past, it would have been separate from Demise in the wish of the future anyway.

Yep @ Cukeman. He gets sealed in the sword in the past and the sword ends up in the big pit just outside the Temple of Time (For some unexplained reason) and in the future keeps trying to escape.

Also if you remember, Ganon in Wind Waker specifically mentions that removing the sword from its resting place broke some kind of seal preventing Ganon from gaining all his powers, perhaps Demise was not fully destroyed by the sword and part of him escaped when the sword was re-awakened by Link removing it?

... did you even read the in-game dialogue? The Goddess sealed away Demise in the Imprisoned form, which was destroyed by Link in the present when the statue crushed him. Then Link went back in time to finish the job, where Demise made the curse. Which happened before his destruction in the present. It's pretty, well, stupidly clear that that's what happened.

But if he died in the past he wouldn't be there in the future to be sealed away... hmmmmmmmm.

EDIT: Also, has anyone managed to get more than 43 cuts in the bamboo? I can't get more than 40 :{

I got 63 once, you have to do lots of vertical cuts for some reason, which doesn't make sense to me. You don't get anything for beating 43 though..
