Viewtiful Joe is really freaking hard. Yes, I started my first attempts on the game on the Adult difficulty setting, but after over 30 lives lost, I still cannot beat the helicopter boss on the first level. I looked up a strategy on GameFAQs, and learned that you can punch back the machine gun bullets while in slow motion, but that's still not enough for me to beat the damned thing.
I usually hate playing a game on easy mode, but it seems that this game's going to be the one to make me do it. I mean, things like a New Game Plus setting or replaying a game on easy mode is just fine if I've beaten the game on at least the normal setting already, but being reduced to doing so before having beaten the game for the first time is rather disappointing for me. The only other game that made me do that was Distorted Travesty, but I had made it to about the halfway point on the normal difficulty before breaking down and switching mid-game. This has me stumped on the first freaking level.

Anyways, made more White progress, six badges now. Could probably beat this game tonight if I wanted to, might try to. Means I could get started on White 2 quickly, then try to play catch-up with everyone else...

I disagree there. PMD2 was much better than 1 because it is more well polished, there are more pokemon to use, there was less frustration than in 1 (recruting the legendaries? You can only bring in your character and doing that is frustrating) and the Gen IV move mechanics work a lot better than Gen III's (or anything before that) for pokemon. and the music *cries tears of joy for Primal Dialga's theme*.
The main thing that PMD1 has over 2 is more of a challenge but that has no effect on the actual quality.
Speaking of this, I am planning to get Explorers of the Sky a little while after getting White 2 because I somehow still don't own a legit copy of a PMD game and I don't want to use my DS1 for games anymore.
To each their own I suppose. PMD2 had a lot of changes that made the game less appealing to me. The main one that comes to mind is how badly the storage was changed. I didn't mind the storage in PMD1, but apparently everyone else did. It came to a point where I just sold most of my stuff because there was never enough room to store anything. Some of the Pokemon-specific items were some of the things I just gave up on completely. They would've been fun to collect otherwise.
Secondly, they altered which pokemon you could recruit, so you could recruit the final evolutions without having to train or do anything with the previous forms. Then they changed the IQ skills so only Palkia could get the ability to dig through walls. And many of the other ones would get maybe one or two good ones and that's it. With the later dungeons being so trap heavy, it's hard to want to bring one that doesn't have the skill to nullify them. There were a few other issues too, like you could no longer switch Leaders while in a dungeon, which was a neat feature to have when you're going up like 70 floors.
Oh and they also made it practically impossible to steal from the Kecleon shops. I always thought it was fun to occasionally mess around with them, but they beefed them up in PMD2 by quite a bit where you can't even fight them anymore.
Lastly, the restricting dungeons were made so hard that I never had even a slightest chance of completing them. I completed the one to get Celebi, and almost completed the one with Jirachi in PMD1, but the ones in PMD2 were worse, so much worse.
I don't remember the issue with the leader, as I used a random Alakazam to get Celebi. But I never got all of the legendaries anyway..
I think the story was better in PMD2, but all of those negatives that I listed above put it lower than PMD1.
Also, last I checked, the Gamestops around here had Darkness and Time like $15-$20 less than Sky. If the extra content doesn't matter that much to you, you could go for one of those instead.
(Apologies if this is in a bad format, the 3DS really doesn't work that well on here.)

Eh, the method of retrieving items in PMD1 from storage was really annoying. You had to repeatedly click through the menus in order to retrieve multiples of the same items. PMD2 solved that by giving the storage system the same format as the treausre bag. I rarely sell the pokemon-specific items unless I have excessive multiples of them. I regularly cleaned up my storage by removing excess multiples of my items and often got a significant amount of money out of it when the storage gets full.

I was glad that they restricted that smash-thru walls ability. Its distribution broke PMD1.
I agree with you on the later dungeons being so trap-heavy because the amount of them is unbelievable in some places (Use a Clear Seed or Trap Goggles and you will see just how many there are. It will surprise you) and these are often the worse traps like the dreaded PP Zero ones. I often had to waste several elixirs in some dungeons because of them.

Kecleon shops being robbed were a problem in the first game, so they buffed them up to deter people from doing this. Emphasis on the phrase "Crime never pays". Besides, stand near a stairway and use a Trawl Orb to rob them from there

What? The only restricting dungeons were the Zero Isles and the mazes in Maroack's Dojo and you are speaking about the secret dungeon to get Celebi. That didn't have any restrictions. None of the legendaries can be obtained directly through the Zero Isles (but I suspect that an item required to obtain some of them are at the bottom of Zero Isles East and South)

It wasn't perfect in PMD1, but I still think that was a better way. My issue probably came because I'd stock up on Gummies, and they'd sit in there until I got a good number of them to use for my pokemon. Add in all the TMs, Scarves, Bands, etc. you find along the way and it gets filled easily. I think they could've easily added an option that if you were withdrawing one type of item, it could ask you how many and that'd fix the withdrawing problem as far as I can see.

What was so bad about it in PMD1? You needed over a hundred Gummies of a specific color to even max out your IQ, so it was kinda cool to have a decent prize at the end.
Don't forget the Pitfall Traps either that are a OHKO on your teammates if you have the ability to step on a trap and not set it off, then one of them steps on it stupidly..
You still needed to have near-maxed out stats and close to Level 100 to stand a chance against them. It was kind of fun as like a side quest to mess around with the shops. They could still easily defeat you if you weren't careful in PMD1, especially those with Screech.
I meant in PMD1 to get Celebi. I don't even think I got Celebi for PMD2 as I got Darkness that had Mewtwo instead. I forget the name, but you had to enter with one pokemon, no items and Level 1 for that dungeon. I did complete it and it was hard enough, but compared to the ones in PMD2, it was nothing.
Honestly, I used a Wondermail generator to get most of those items as I knew I would never get to the end of those. I don't think they were anything good though. I think one boosted EXP earned and one was that Mask that increased the chances of recruiting all pokemon in general.

I'm going to be honest, I sobbed at the end. I didn't know it would impact me as much as it did...just like everyone said it would.
I'll keep the details out, because I just looked above to see Ventus started to play it. Enjoy it buddy.
10/10, hands down.

I will admit, though, that I've never technically finished Mother 3. I got to the final part of New Pork City, and then my PC went belly-up and I lost my save data. I re-downloaded all my games and stuff, but I've never gotten around to re-playing it again to catch back up. The slight lag in battle wreaking having on the attack timing system was really annoying, and I don't have a way to put it on my DS to play it. (no slot 2 flashcard, only slot 1 on a DS Lite)
Really sucks, though. My computer loses it all when I was literally at the last save point before the finale. All I had to do was walk through the next room, too. Really, I remember the night before, I saved the game, and then walked into the next room to see what I'd be up against next, before turning it off and going to bed. Worst possible timing ever...
