I'd much rather see an Emerald remake. R/S were okay, but Emerald was 10 times better, easily.

Visually held up? You do realize that Hoenn is the only region that's still in 2D, right? Every other region has been in 3D. It's about time we get a 3D remake of it.
I'd much rather see an Emerald remake. R/S were okay, but Emerald was 10 times better, easily.
I especially want the music of Hoenn re-done. If they are going to do Ruby and Sapphire remakes (which is very likely), they are going to do what they did with HG/SS and implement everything that emerald had in it and more.

As for why, money, easy. Pokemon is still incredibly popular, and remaking the games so that all gens are available on a single system is very appealing to "collectors" (not really collectors, but people like me, who like to have series completed). Makes good business sense to me. But, imagine Fortree City (is that the right spelling?) in 3D, or that one city in that volcanic (or was it meteoric? It was soo long ago) crater in the middle of the ocean. Imagine diving (I always loved to dive), and finding the Regis and stuff. I'd get the remake, no doubt.

What makes R/S/E worthy of a remake? I just don't see it.
A Battle Frontier with seven different facilities.
Two evil teams competing against each other and you.
An incredibly fast paced almost story-driven adventure.
Two champions (similar to HG/SS/G/S/C).
Two rivals.
An amazing soundtrack.
A city floating on the water.
A city built in the treetops of a jungle.
A city inside a volcano.
The ability to dive top the bottom of the ocean.
A region that isn't a giant circle for you to go around, but rather a complex maze of routes.
And the list goes on...

Honestly, I don't think it is, though I'm in favor of a remake. R/S/E have a lot of potential, but just downright stink as they are now. If they remade them and did a better job, I'm sure it could redeem the Hoenn region.

A city built in the treetops of a jungle.
A city inside a volcano.
At this point, I think you're just trying to come up with reasons to make your list seem longer...
I really don't see how this all can compare to the introduction of genders, breeding, day and night, a comprehensive device like the Pokégear, multiple Pokédex modes, and let's not forget getting to revisit Kanto and challenging Red!
Now seriously, take the R/S/E fanboy love to a different thread, and I won't bug you there. I want to talk about what this thread's meant to talk about, which they (and their originals) win over R/S/E or a remake of those any day.

Wallace is champion in Emerald, but you can still fight Steven Stone, who has a team about the same level as Red's, deep inside Meteor Falls.
I'll admit, a couple of the songs are forgettable. But some are great. The Elite Four theme comes to mind. And I know you'll kill me for saying this, but I think Emerald's Champion music is better than G/S/C's. G/S/C's fit Red well, but didn't feel like a champion battle song. Emerald's did.
Ya, there's no use arguing with somebody with nostalgia on his side. If you hadn't grown up with Silver, you'd agree with me. You're just blinded by the nostalgia factor involved.

I'm on your side, but I also hated R/S/E.

Yea, this 100%.
Nostalgia can sometimes be a very bad thing for a person. It seems TS grew up with R/B/Y G/S/C and then lost interest in the series while some of us continued to grow and remained faithful to Pokemon. I think a remake of Hoenn would own Sinnoh and Johto. Hoenn's cities, routes, and towns were absolutely beautiful. Thinking about it, I've bought every version of pokemon to date
I mean, i started Pokemon in R/B/Y when it was a huge fad worldwide but then again i treat every Pokemon game equally. No nostalgia involved because they are all great in my opinion.

And I don't know about that. If I hadn't grown up with R/B/Y/G/S, I probably wouldn't have played Pokémon at all. And I prefer to see it as blessed with the nostalgia factor.
Besides that, I could be mistaken, but I think every game after R/B/Y (G/S/C/R/S/E/D/P/Pt) take place at the same time. Well, Gen II and another gen take place at the same time at least, if not all of them. So for story purposes, they probably couldn't justify going to the other regions while that region's game's events were going on.
Anyways, I was in Celadon today and talked to that man outside the gym. They changed his dialogue. He used to say "This gym is great! It's full of girls!" Now it says "This gym is great! It's full of strong trainers!" ... Which could be said about a lot of the other gyms, so now it makes the guy seem superfluous. Did Nintendo turn anti-peeper all of a sudden?

Honestly, I'm trying to get the thread moving back in its original purpose, it'd help if you contributed to that instead of continuing this derailment...

Then you would have grown with the Ruby and Sapphire games since Pokemon is still VERY popular >_> My little sister is in love with pearl because her first pokemon game was pearl and she loved the shows with dawn and her piplup and stuff. Believe it or not, This whole argument is based on nostalgia for the first 2 8-bit generations and not just bashing the series because you simply grew out of it and lost interest. But that ends this R/S/E discussion i guess.

Alright, folks, let's leave the TS-bashing at home already. Take the R/S/E love to another thread. And no, R/S/E's cities and towns were bland in design. <_<
They changed the dialogue for a lot of things in the games. I guess they wanted the games to feel fresh and not have the same old boring dialogue in G/S/C.
EDIT: I still can't beat the improved Elite Four and Red?

I noticed that too. I guess they wanted to make it more kid friendly/less suggestive? Like when they turned the Cookie Monster into the Veggie monster.
But yeah, I noticed quite a bit of dialogue changes throughout Kanto.
