What if that actually IS a season stump, and the brown leaf signifies that you can use this particular one to switch to fall?

Three weeks...

Woah.

My first thought was floating on a Deku leaf like in Wind Waker, but Link has his glider thing, so maybe it has to do with the Koroks

Tanooki Link, turn in to a statue and uh... yeah. Super useful, trust me!
Who needs iron boots if you can do that?

I kind of thought it was just showing you that you can glide from there or something, but if they actually did have a season system that they've kept quiet about, I'd be very okay with that. Given the heavy focus on nature, and outdoors, this isn't entirely out of the question, imo. At the very least, I expect there will be areas that at least look like different seasons. We've already seen a snowy area, summer/ spring fields, and some orange Autumn-looking trees.

So I dunno if this was mentioned about the shrines. I know they are like mini optional puzzle dungeons scattered throughout the world. The impression I get is like they are something like caves rather than dungeons per se. We've seen this design in A Link Between Worlds where there were like some mini dungeon-esque area with a singular puzzle which often earned the player a rupee prize.
I believe this is the intent that they're going with the shrines, which is good because when I first saw a Shrine I in previous demos I wasn't happy that this was the point of the dungeons. But real dungeons have been revealed long since then. But it's only now I really thought about what the shrines serve and they do seem to play a role to implement puzzles into the overworld without forcing them into the overworld, and I like that. Heck, I'd like to see actual quests take on this approach a little to be honest.

I actually had a similar feeling, that the shrines were like expansions of those minidungeons in ALBW. In fact, I think ALBW at one point was proposed as a game that used nothing but tons of minidungeons. Now that idea's come back in a way, I see. ![]()

So apparently the game has a 20$ season pass, with at least two DLC 'packs'. ![]()
I have no strong opinions on this, other than it being a little annoying that a company is once again announcing more ways you can spend money on a game that isn't even out yet, but that happens once a week these days so eh. I do wonder what you guys think about this though, considering some of you have shown some pretty major opposition to season passes and these kinds of things with other triple A titles in the last few years.
Nintendo:
Starting when the game launches on March 3, players will be able to purchase an Expansion Pass for $19.99, granting access to two new sets of downloadable content for the game when they become available later this year. Immediately upon pre-purchase or purchase of the Expansion Pass, three new treasure chests will appear in the game’s Great Plateau area. One of these treasure chests will contain a shirt with a Nintendo Switch logo that Link can wear during his adventure, exclusive to the Expansion Pass.
The other two will deliver useful items. The first content pack is scheduled to launch this summer, and will include the addition of a Cave of Trials challenge, a new hard mode and a new feature for the in-game map. The second content pack will launch in Holiday 2017, and adds new challenges that will let players enjoy a new dungeon and a new original story. The Expansion Pass will be available for both the Nintendo Switch and Wii U versions of the game and are identical. Content packs cannot be purchased individually.
Edit: Oh and remember, if you're against this kind of practice, or you think features like a hard mode should be included in the game itself; vote with your wallet! This is Nintendo testing out the waters for this kind of stuff. If it is successful, they will do more of it. And they will measure the success by their sales numbers, so if you're against this stuff, take a stance and just don't buy it.

Many people won't "vote with their wallet" which is why people who do will often just miss out. I've been still waiting for the Wii U to go down in price. However, it's probably just going to instantly jump from an overpriced console to an expensive collectors item, because that's how Nintendo rolls. Nintendo stuff doesn't go cheap ever.
As more time passes, the more it seems like I'm probably going to end up skipping this title. I would have missed Skyward Sword if my friend didn't own it. Maybe he'll buy this game and I'll get to play it that way, who knows. lol
The game looks great, but not worth the Switch's or even the Wii U's current price tag.

I definitely don't like that Hard Mode is locked behind a DLC paywall.

I probably won't be getting the season pass myself, though I'm curious to see what kind of story content they're going to release. Depending on where they go with that I might end up picking up at least one of the DLC's in the future. I understand a lot of the skepticism around season passes in general, and for a large part of the industry the result is often half baked content that isn't really worth either attention or money. Then again there are exceptions, there are companies that treat DLC's as opportunities to expand on the main experience, and that is something I want to support.
That said, I have no idea what to expect when it comes to Breath of the Wild. If the game is as big as they say then I'm sure that I'll have plenty to keep myself occupied with while we wait for more information anyways. ![]()

Quoting from your own article,
It looks like there's not going to be an option to buy just one; it's an all or nothing deal.
Ahahahah what. How is that a good idea in their eyes? Wow. Not really a big deal for me personally, all it means is that I'll wait until after both DLC's are out which I was likely going to do anyway... but I do not at all understand what makes Nintendo think that is a good idea, hahahaha.

Nintendo doesn't understand "good ideas".
