That was funny. I enjoyed watching that. Thankfully, the real Brawl won't be like that. icon_deformed.gif

Heh, Meta Knight literally made me burst out laughing. icon_xd.gif

Nice YouTube video. Good choice for most of the characters...but I wish Link was in.

Today's update is Meowth and the Wiimote controls.

In SSB, Meowth stayed in one spot and fired coins all around him. I wonder what he does this time. It looks like he just throws coins.

The Wiimote controls don't seem appealing to me, but that's mainly because I am so used to the Gamecube controller.

EDIT: As an attempt to answer the English version of the site's question of the name of the coin in Japan, I believe it's called a Ryo.

Koban? It is a oval gold coin on Meowth's forehead. That's what you mean, right?

As of today's update, you are right about Wiimote controls. It doesen't interest me at all. I use the GCN Controller as well.

In Mystical Ninja: Starring Goemon it was called ryo... I think Koban was a ninja cat from the original SNES game...

But yeah... can't wait icon_razz.gif

I'm actually quite amazed how similar the default controls are on the Wiimote and Classic Controller. I'm far from disappointed in that. (I just wish the darn batteries would stop running out so fast. >.< ) The only thing we aren't as clued-in about now is the Wiimote and Nunchuck combo.

^ turn the wiimote volume all the way down. The sound quality is crap anyway, and it saves HEAPS of battery life.

Meowth is okay. As for the Wii controls.... I'd probably have to play it to like it, but I'm not so hot on it. icon_unsettled.gif

A lot of people seem to be liking the Wimote controls because they're more like classic fighters. By the sounds of it, it's something that you really have to try out first, but it's supposed to be a good, simple control scheme. The only drawback is using the B button, but thankfully SSBB is supposed to be completely customizable when it comes to controls, so you can set that to something you don't use often. icon_smile.gif

Yep. But so were about 12 of the characters in SSBB. icon_blah.gif

(As far as we know, all Melee characters are returning.)

I'm really interested in the Wiimote-only controls. I've always wished I could play Smash Bros. digitally. The game doesn't really NEED analog controls; almost none of its functions are truly analog anyway. I will definitely be trying this control scheme out. icon_smile.gif I like how they handle everything; I bet I'll be able to get some really precision control out of it.

I sorta forgot how many buttons they'd have to cram into the control scheme, though, and I hope the B button isn't too hard to use. However, as long as it isn't harder to reach than the X+Y combination on the Gamecube controller (which I had to use for Soul Calibur 2), I bet I will be able to learn to do it fairly reliably.

What about the tilt-up attacks? If you want to do a Hammerkick as Samus, but end up jumping instead, it's going to put a real damper on your day.

There's always a pause before the character actually jumps. They needed to insert that in order to tell whether your character was going to do any sort of Up attack in the first place, after all.

I imagine it will happen like this:
Up -> 2 button (one after the other in rapid succession)

As opposed to this:
Up + 2 button (both at the same time)

Also, I'm not sure how necessary it's going to be, but the site does mention that double tap-Up results in an immediate jump. However, either way, I think that doing up-attacks isn't going to be hindered...the only possible problem I can see would be with split-second jumps. And even then I think that flawless execution will be possible, IF the Brawl team does a good enough job designing the controls.
