Just watched Darunia or whatever his name is shimmy in my face in 3D.

Score.
I personally thought his dance was better in the N64 version, but I guess the 3D helps. icon_heh.gif

... but the 3D isn't all good. A few times in Jabu-Jabu's belly, I got a few... close-ups of Ruto's butt. In 3D. Not exactly pleasant. Plus, when Navi returned to Link's hat (I'm assuming that's where she goes all that time), I swore it looked like she flew straight up it. ... Nightmare Fuel.

... anyways, I beat the Forest and Fire Temples as well as the Ice Cavern in Master Quest so far. Forest Temple was pretty fun, complex and actually made me have to stop and think a bit. Fire Temple... I think was actually easier than it was originally, since, well, you can skip half the dungeon if you want. I delved into it completely anyway, because I wanted those Gold Skulltulas. And the Ice Cavern, well... it was a bit different, but not all that harder than the original Ice Cavern. Maybe even easier for all I know. icon_heh.gif

Also, I remembered two of the points I would have improved about OoT, as well as one more, so here they are:
  1. Ya know how in WW and TP, if your wallet was full (or near-full) and you found a red or orange or better rupee in a chest, and it would say "You can't carry anymore money; come back later" or something to that effect? I would've put this into OoT 3D as well.
  2. Epona. You should have been able to take her into Kokiri Forest or Kakariko Village. And I would've made her a lot less sensitive into what she could and couldn't run into; in that regard, I think her controls have actually regressed a bit since the N64 version. It gets annoying when you're trying to move forward on like that plank in Gerudo Valley and she halts, rears up, and backs up. In fact, I would've taken the backing up out altogether.
  3. The occasional framerate issues. It's been 13 years. WHY WERE THESE NOT FIXED. There's no excuse here.
And yeah, that's it for part two of "How TS Would Have Changed OoT." Stay tuned for more. Unless I get canceled. icon_deformed.gif

I agree. But hey. He was rockin' that shimmy.

I just entered Jabu-Jabu's Belly. I'll keep my eyes open. Or...closed. icon_deformed.gif

EDIT:

Is it weird that I just got to the Forest Temple and have ten hearts, already? I remembered the locations of a bunch of HCP's so I got them along the way.

EDIT 2:

It's official. The Well is still as creepy as hell, in every possible sense.

Master Quest is beaten. Man, what a relief. And I'll tell you, before, I used to collect the health upgrade from the fairy outside just for the sake of collecting it. Now, it became a big relief. But... Well, I see haven't updated since I finished the Ice Cavern.

Water Temple was interesting. And fun, but simpler than the original version in a way. Not much to say here. Shadow Temple didn't seem to be able to change the layout that well, so it was fairly similar to its original version. Spirit Temple, however, was where the fun was. You actually had to look around and do a lot of work for stuff. And when you came back as an adult, you had to backtrack through the child portion, which I thought was neat. ... the only part that wasn't neat was that you needed to use adult Link to activate a rusty switch in one part, but to get the chest it made appear, you had to turn back into a child, get it, then turn back into an adult to complete the level. But it still managed to be great fun in the process.

Then came Ganon's Castle. And I am satisfied with the way they changed some portions. Though a few small portions I thought were better in the original version. But it was a fun mix-up from the original way of doing things, that's for sure. Though I'm slightly disappointed nothing changed in Ganondorf's Tower. Personally they could've beefed it up; one more Dinolfos, one more Stalfos, one more Iron Knuckle? Besides, after a point you figure out the Iron Knuckle and then you can avoid taking hits altogether. And Dinolfos aren't that hard to beat...

Anyways, guess all that's left now is to run the boss gauntlet in Master Quest, then 100% both versions. And now that I play Master Quest, I'm definitely leaning more towards recommending the game to anyone seeking to know if it's worth it. The mirrored nature of Master Quest makes it feel fresh and like a new game, though you will notice nothing's changed outside of the dungeons. And it's definitely a good challenge, as well. I felt satisfied with it. And the potential for original Zelda games on 3DS just skyrocketed. Well, I'm certain, as good as OoT 3D looks, the graphics can be majorly improved upon, but things definitely look good for the future of handheld Zelda gaming. Personally I'm still hoping for a WW-style game, only with an on-foot overworld.

... or maybe a new sprite-based Zelda. icon_heh.gif

I wonder, in Ganon's castle there is a mini challenge involving you luring a Iron Knuckle over to 4 thrones positioned back to back and making him smash them to reveal a switch positioned between them, can you still backflip into the hole between them and (I think) hammer the switch? You can on the N64.

What does this switch do?

The switch just unlocked the door, is all. It was in Master Quest, the Spirit Temple portion, first room. I don't recall it being in the non-Master Quest version. But I went to check both versions (MQ first), and no, you could not backflip between the cracks to avoid using the Iron Knuckle. I didn't try side-jumping, though, but I'm too lazy to reopen it again; I had just turned it off, lol. Then I checked the regular version; not there. Thought not. But yeah, you can't backfilp between the cracks. But I like luring the Iron Knuckles...

Yeah I got confused in that puzzle when playing the leaked N64 ROM of Master Quest. I didn't want to reset the room until I worked out what to do and uh managed to back-flip in the gap between the thrones lol. Still didn't know what the point was till I started spamming the megaton hammer while in there and somehow hitting the rusted switch xD. Then I just back-flipped out.

To back-flip between them I had to first back-flip onto there seats.

I'm at the Spirit Temple. I feel kind of lame because I collected all of the HCPs as I went along, as well as finishing side quests so I'm not really going to have anything more to do once I finish. icon_razz.gif I missed a few Gold Skulltulas, though. I only have seventy or so.

Anyway, I hope they make their next 3DS Zelda game using similar graphics to this. I really like this engine. And, although the probability is pretty flippin' low, I would love to see a Majora's Mask remake.

Please, Nintendo?

EDIT: Just got the defense upgrade. Wooooo.

EDIT 2: Beat it. Over it. icon_razz.gif

I just wanted to wake up this thread, from its almost 5-month slumber. icon_razz.gif
Going to get a (Black!) 3DS, and Ocarina of Time for Christmas. I've been looking at video of it, and glitches on Youtube. So excited to play it again. Just two weeks left!

So I'm assuming you're getting OoT 3D as a gift... But if you're not...

SPAM!! B&!!!!

*runs*

Well, I guess there's not much else to say besides if you like OoT and aren't looking for an overhaul of any kind (besides graphically), you'll like this. I mean, I bought it for that reason (plus it was a weekend-only deal and that was the only game out), so, well, you'll be fine if you're not expecting anything huge. The revamped menu system is fantastic, the boss rush mode is very nice, and mirrored Master Quest is nice, makes it almost feel like a different game, but other than that, not much more to it.

That's about it. Either way, have fun with it. icon_smile.gif

EDIT: *reads up a few posts* Ah yes, that is indeed the case. Figured it was, just wanted to be funny. icon_deformed.gif
