Demo Alert

You've probably all heard by now about a demo being held at E for All in Los Angeles next week. As for me going... there's a chance I may not (money issues).

Either way, I post... to link you all to this:

Seven minutes of the demo in action. Enjoy.

icon_eyeitus.gif Incredible. Samus's Final Smash wasn't very impressive in and of itself, but I'm guessing the main effect is to put her in the Zero Suit. Sonic's smash.... aaaaaawwwwweeeeesssssooooommmmmeeeee.

WHOA! I'm seeing plenty of good stuff, there. Random character select, return of the character entrances, the spike ball, Advance Wars soldiers icon_w00t.gif (Andy's possible appearance as a fighter?), Up+B Charge for Link (I find that to be a nice plus), smart bomb (?), and Sonic's Final Smash (looks like a free-flying Super Sonic with full player control. Nice!)

It looks like all of Melee's items (not sure about the flipper, though) will return.

Hopefully, Sonic is less of a worry to people who fear that he is broken, as his traction seems lower than the average character. Also, what is up with the Smash Purists? Solid Snake and Sonic have both appeared in at least one Nintendo game, and if you want to get down to companies, Hal Laboratory owns Kirby and Ness, Intelligent Systems owns Marth, Ike, and Advance Wars, and Game Freak has the Pokemon. Heck, maybe Hal Laboratory and Game Freak shouldn't be involved with Smash, in that case, since Hal Laboratory made games for MSX, and Game Freak had developed at least one game for Sony and Sega. Maybe Capcom shouldn't get involved, either, although I know many MegaMan fans would be disappointed, if that's the case.

It's not a question of company.. it's a question of home console. Sonic is Sega Genesis, and Snake is definitely Playstation. course, Sonic has migrated to the Gamecube because Sega got out of consoles with the Dreamcast, so Sonic is arguably worthy of getting in. Snake, however... I dunno. He's a bit of a stretch, if you ask me.

Actually , it started with the MSX2 and was ported to the NES. Major MSX contributor: Sony. Metal Gear 2 was made only for the MSX2, and the rest were mainly PlayStation.

You could select randomly in Melee by holding your token to the extreme left or right of the selection screen and pressing A, and it'll randomly select one. icon_blah.gif

As for the demo *dies*

That's how good it is. I see a return of character entrances, as Animus pointed out, which is cool. Samus's Final Smash was pretty sweet, actually, though less damaging than I would've hoped. icon_unsettled.gif Actually, I'm glad the dude lost the Smash Ball to Sonic, cuz I wanted to see it, and that's.... just awesome. Flying around and killing people instantly, like the Home Run Bat, but slightly less powerful. icon_razz.gif Wow. All in all, this'll turn out great. I'm... in love. icon_deformed.gif

As for today's update, big deal compared to the demo. icon_xd.gif

The Final Smash is probably not fully complete yet, with the damage factor. I'm sure with multiple opponents, the Final Smash will be devastating.

I already pointed out entrances but no one cared icon_frown.gif. jk. No really. Anyway, that video was sweet. Makes me want it now. I'm trying to avoid the website from now on. I don't want to know every character, but right now it feels like there is room for way more then 50 characters.

There are three more demos from the guy as well. A little harder to follow, being blurry and from a distance, but still fairly satisfying.

Amazing smashes. Really. Loved it all.

I wasn't always a big fan of Super Smash Bros. Until about 6 months ago, I thought it was just an overrated button-mashing game. I never really thought until recently that it required a lot of skill and strategy. (without items and remembering that A doesn't jump)

They also say that Sonic is hard to control, in that first demo that Exate linked to. icon_razz.gif

Suprisingly, one of my sister's friends (a HUGE Nintendo fan) hates SSB because it's "button mashing". I could easily argue that her fave, DDR, is just foot mashing, but whatever. It's not everyone's cup of tea, I guess.
