Okay, I definitely need to clear the air here. When Shane was talking about debating, he was referring to the more aggressive form of debating, or at least debating that leads to aggressiveness between the two or more parties, where people are basically "yelling" at each other, are blocking all other types of conversations occurring in the chat, and/or are basically flaming, trolling, attacking, and/or antagonizing people with whom they are debating with. Debating in a more educational and formal way is more acceptable in the general sense, unless the topics talked about are identified as against the rules by the discretion of any or all of the moderators.
There have been few true debates in the Skype Group, but when they occur, they tend to be more of an aggressive type of debating in which people are flaming each other rather than a civilized and formal type of debating in which people are being friendly to the other party or parties and the conversation is not leading itself to chaos, anger, or aggressiveness. We, as the moderators, are not out to censor debates in any way, but rather we are making sure that if debates happen they are taken in a mature and civilized manner so that no one is personally offended, antagonized, and/or hurt in any way, shape, or form.
