Wow...that's pretty good. If you can beat AQ then you should be able to beat mine without cheating but you might have to work a little bit. By the way, make sure that you have the magic shield before you try and get the sword. Go to the village and Ama can give you a hint regarding where it is.

okie.

Its as the future telling fire said "The conjunction of the planets indicates that you will use the lens of truth to discover other maze paths". Use the lens of truth in the room with the maze - you'll see it.

As for beating the bat wizzrobes - you need the amulet first - otherwise its nearly impossible. Get past the mazes and you'll find a goriya who has it - you'll just need a way to get it out of him.

Get the letter (called "proof of courage") in level 6. Then, go to Link's tomb and show it to him he will give you the lvl2 arrow.

Wow, I already heard lot's of things about this quest. Made me interested, so I need to try it out myself ;D

EDIT: Can someone give me a tip how to get the blue candle in the room where you can't see the spikes?

Also, after many tries, I've got to this room in the first dungeon, wich felt very rewarding.

But after that, when leaving the room through the left door, I got into a dark instant kill room. What was that?

I would recommend to have some checkpoints/savepoints in the dungeons, so you don't have to do the really hard rooms again, after beating them.

When Link is dying after being killed by the spikes the whole room lights up. You need to remember the spike positions for the next attempt icon_smile.gif Didn't you see the spikes when you were dying? You can't get the sword without the blue candle and magic shield which are found on the left of where you start off. Make sure you see Ama's tip about where the magic shield is back in the village.

On the left of your screenshot you need to use the blue candle to kill the goriya. And its not an instant kill room, just move around and dodge the rocks and fireballs.

I thought about checkpoints and savepoints, but if players know that they can start off where they died then there's no motivation to stay alive and the game gets to a point where players can be reckless and don't fear death anymore. There has to be some "punishment" for dying - but not too much. I believe I've got the balance just right.

I'm playing this a bit right now. You bastard - You put the lamp in a dark room with spikes! Hahahaha. Love it. icon_biggrin.gif I hope there aren't any of those rooms far away from continue points though: One screen in = funny, but twenty-something away = quit.

Also nice maze path. I didn't actually know you could do that. (No wait.. I vaguely recall one somewhere else. )

PS: Looks interesting so far. (4 deaths and have nothing to show for it. hmm...)

EDIT: Oh my god how is it so hard to get the sword?! ...Seems I am a bit rusty, methinks. icon_mad.gif

Yes, I had to get the balance right. The most you should have to get in a row is 6 on any gauntlet and the more rooms that you need to do in a row, the easier they are. If there's only one room, it will be very very hard. I do accept this criticism and it will be addressed in my next quest, but I don't want to put in too many continue points otherwise players could start getting complacent about surviving. There always has to be a motivation to survive and death is a good motivator. But yes, having to repeat difficult rooms could be a quit factor.

Yeah...don't try to get the sword without the magic shield and blue candle. But its the most liberating feeling in the world to get the sword icon_smile.gif

No no, that's not what I meant. Initial impression of this quest leaves a lot to the imagination of what other diabolical devices are employed throughout. That's a good thing; Lots of well thought out goodies here. Just checking that there were none of those instant death rooms, say, the next to last room before you finish the level, which would be enough grounds to declare shenanigans. icon_wink.gif Seems to be well balanced (waay on the extremely hard side). Hey, don't feel you have to dumb down the fighting rooms or anything - the more the merrier. I mean, hey, c'mon.. Let's go! icon_biggrin.gif

Anyway finished (I think) lv1 [death count: too many]. Brilliant design BTW. If I had to find anything wrong with it I'd say the Digdogger room was fairly annoying to traverse after every death. Every other room was used in the greater grand design of the level, but that one seemed a little bit like filler. Must've died at least ten times there also. heh.

Anyway, I'm hoping that it gets easier now with some hearts and a sword to work with. I don't really feel in my element until Link has about 8 hearts and some decent weapons.

ps: Bomb bags?

Hmm...well, you're right there are a lot of diabolical things I did. But they are all possible and all solvable by the elite expert player. Just wait until you get to fortress 5 icon_smile.gif But, there are no instant death rooms anywhere in my quest I made sure of that(except possibly the spike room in level 1 on the very first attempt because the player would not have seen the spikes on dying yet). I hate cheap/lame difficulty so in each room you have a fair chance of winning if you're good enough.

This quest is designed to be completed only by the very best players and only when they really sweat for it. I really hate the kind of quests which I can zero game whilst falling asleep. Thus the necessity of diabolical things.

Well done on completing level 1. That's further than most players will ever go. You must be pretty good.

Are you referring to the room of water with a bridge and a super darknut? It can be done using the 90 degree darknut slash 16 times. Insanely difficult - yes. Impossible - no. But its not necessary to beat the super darknut. You can skip over it. But if you do beat it, your reward is a shorter path to the boss.

As for bombs. Link starts out with 0 Max bombs. Won't get bombs until level 4. Bombs make level 2 and 3 too easy so I had to take them out. But you should get 8 to 9 hearts by the time you finish level 3. Though, I do take that into account when I design difficulty, so it gets more difficult.

Fair enough. Still its an accomplishment in itself to complete my quest with the gold ring. Well done! Perhaps you can return one day when you've become better at Zelda.
