Don't worry; I found a perfect game to play! Sorry it took some time - mainly busy with life.
EDIT: Good news, review will be up sometime today.
When I heard about this game, I knew this wasn't your standard Zelda Classic game, especially since this was made by Avataro, who created two other small creative games called "Temple Runner" and "Fight the Monsters". So I downloaded this and I had a high expectations for this, got up to Level 10, I've seen a lot of amazing stuff up to this point, as well as a few cons but anyways:
Visuals:This quest borrows various tiles from classic and DoR recoloured and fitted into this new tileset, and I must say, I love how it looks, it's got that adventurous feel that supports the title "Island Adventure". But the island looks mostly barren, a few plants -- besides palm trees -- would have done the trick. some could have replaced rocks. Another thing is that most of the tiles are bigger then the palm tree graphic (and the house, in this case) but I can't blame him since I assume his goal was to fit everything in one, single tile, but stretching the palm tree one tile higher would've worked out better, plus it would've been a great addition as it's overhead tile could have hid various blocks and coins behind it, but that would have killed the purpose I see of this set.
Personally, I find the graphics so pretty but a few things said above kinda ruin it for me. Gameplay:Level 1 started out simple, mainly just walking across the island reaching the house -- the objective of each standard level -- giving you that basic "this is your objective of each level" feel, which is perfect for a Level 1. Level 2 then introduced push blocks... did I mention you can push them into water? That was another touch that makes this game feel so special and unique, because I was expecting they had to stay on land. A few levels after introduces these lock blocks blocking your way to the house, to unlock them, you must collect all the gold coins on the screen and place them in the lock block to proceed. Another touch that makes gameplay so fun.
This game most certainly has creative block puzzles.
Lock blocks that require all coins is a work of a pure genius. Can this get any better? It gets a whole lot more fun! A few levels after that, there was this X engraving on the ground, which is basically where you need to place the block, but the previous introductions (which introduced the blocks and coins) weren't as easy as this, making this level feel uninspired which is kinda a let down. But then we start seeing a combination of all of these puzzles, making gameplay increase difficulty, but it's exactly what I was expecting!
I'll admit, this puzzle was easy, but perfect for a introduction of those X engravings, but still, too easy IMO.
A combination of everything? Now we getting somewhere!I stopped after the completion of Level 12, which introduced spikes. And supposedly this quest will introduced two other puzzles using the bombs and raft, too bad I could get up to that point and too bad I couldn't get to the boss either, I was hoping to review that to.
Audio:N/ASuggestions/Pros/Cons:- Maybe improve on the palm tree.
- Maybe improve the island that introduces the X engravings and add a little more difficult.
- Maybe more themes for the islands?
- Many a few puzzles that center around a key and a keylock?
- A health bar perhaps?
Pros:- Nice graphical style choice.
- Fantastic gameplay, ranging from blocks to coins.
- Amazing concept, exploring various islands.
Cons:- A easy level, between two hard puzzling levels.
- Slightly odd tiles.
- Having a health bar.
Overall, it's a nice, fun and small quest to play when you bored! (I think I officially found out that I have a soft spot for small quests...)
5/5
