Maybe, maybe not. They're really going out on a limb with the train thing. I'm inclined to trust nintendo. People thought Wind Waker was a leap by putting Link in a boat and I thought that was what made the game (this is the same game that has been my #1 favorite among all games for three years). Perhaps it will be better than we suspect.
Remember, Phantom Hourglass had simple dungeons, but it wasn't that bad of a game. The only reason it was easy was because Nintendo's developers used PH as an experiment to see what they could do to improve Zelda's gameplay using the DS's features. Well, now they've done their experimenting. I'm just going to hope spirit tracks has what was good about Phantom Hourglass, that it doesn't have what was unnecessary, and has all of their new ideas.
The only way in that PH was better than WW was that PH had fishing. Loved fishing.

I'm pretty sure he was just talking about normal playing cards with Zelda-related pictures on them, not a TCG.
Maybe, but that wouldn't have much of a point. It'd be more like an action figure than a gimmick for a game. Of course, Nintendo would probably force you to buy the cards in order to play, or unlock certain things ingame
They could give Zelda over to Retro Studios, but then Metroid games will likely suffer in quality :/
First person Zelda? Oblivion did it pretty well, so sure

That's not the point. By saying "didn't they hear we hated the graphics?" he's being self-involved in that because he hates the graphics, obviously EVERYONE must hate the graphics. And it's simply not true. Only a small demographic hates the graphics.
Fair enough. Apologies for implying that everyone shared my opinion. For the record, I dislike the cel-shaded graphics. They worked in Wind Waker. I rather liked them in that game. But, for the DS, they're far too ... chunky. Not as smooth as they were on the gamecube. Obviously, it's because the DS isn't as powerful of a system. That aside, I wish Nintendo would quit beating what I consider a dead horse.
But, that's just me. Truth be told, graphics don't make that much a difference. Twilight Princess looked fantastic but, it was entirely too easy for me.. I only played through it twice. I'm very disappointed with Nintendo's abandonment of the Zelda franchise. Quite frankly, I feel the last quality game they made was Ocarina of Time. From then on, it's been on a slow decline.
However, that's off topic. I just wanted to express where my opinion was coming from.
Once again, I apologize for thinking everyone felt that way.

Anyways, I'd have to say that Phantom Hourglass was really the only one that hasn't been as great as the others. I'm guessing that the DS will just have Zelda games that appeal to casuals, and the Wii, hardcore.

Retro said they were done with Metroid for the moment. Although I would like to see what would become of Zelda in their hands.
I still say we need more information on this - one trailer can't say enough about a game to actually get an effective opinion on it.
Retro would just make a MP game using Zelda equipment
Considering the similarities in overall design that the two franchises originally shared, that doesn't sound all that bad. I for one would like more backtracking in my Zeldas.

I think it's time to give the Wind Waker Cell Shaded Zelda style a rest.

As for the train, I am disappointed in it. I think it's Nintendo's way of putting invisible barriers on gameplay. I'd love another Zelda where you can go anywhere you want and do anything if you can.
