This really is a fine quest, I'm to Level 1 at the moment, and have already explored about 1/2 of the island, really beautiful overworld.

Review for those who want to read a lot.

Graphics 5/5: Individually, your screens are creative and look really beautiful, but what really makes it beautiful is how all of it fits together. The only problems I think there are is in the caves, a couple transitions from the higher walls to the lower, but it's not really much of a problem.

Gameplay: 4.5/5: The gameplay is near perfect, I only brought down .5 of a point is because I was comparing the gameplay to my favorite quest(demo) Sabotage Dragoon. But it's great nonetheless. I especially love it how there are so many paths in each screen, and how much backtracking you would need to do. I believe that is one of your main strengths, backtracking. The exploration factor is also really cool.

Music: 5/5: Your choice of music... you really set the mood in all of the areas, the minimalist music is a great touch, you really used BACKGROUND music.

Story 5/5: Very eerie, all of the history messages and ghost cut scenes are beautiful... but... do you think you could make your intro just a little bit more flashy? icon_razz.gif

Script 4.5/5: Much of the script is great, I like how you got the pirate guys rough speaking, the only problem I had so far was the diary in the ruined town, it just seemed kind of weird to write "oh no, they're coming..." in a diary when their life is probably about to end. It kind of reminds me of Monty Python and the Holy Grail where they read the writing in the cave after the killer bunny, and the writing on the rock says "...Castle ughhhhhhhh....".

Overall: 24/25: Really excellent so far, but I'm sure I'll be able to rake in a couple more problems when I'm done icon_smile.gif.

Review for the lazy.

Nice, it's up there with my favorite quests, made by some of the best quest makers, Peteo and Darkflamwolf.

By the way DFW, just a thought, are you going to do anymore enormous projects like this? Is it something you would want to do again? If it were me, I'd probably say no, but then again, I'd probably never get to this stage because I can't finish a quest to save my life.

Level 1 is really freaking hard. I've been playing for over 2 hours and I've died at least 20 times. I hope it doesn't get much harder than this...

Level 2...I...I can't do it...
I have the first key from that mini boss, but I cant think of anywhere else to go...Also, it reminds me of a game I played for the SNES, did you get your inspiration from that? It's done beautifully I can't wait to play more...but I'm stuck... icon_confused.gif

Feeling like an idiot. Running around for the arrow but can not find it. Read the line which says it is near the bow. Found the bow and seems i cannot figure out to find the arrow. Bombed all the houses. Been all the possible caves I can reach but no succes. Can anyone tell me where to find the arrow. icon_cry.gif

The Arrow is in a cave under one of the houses. The cave entrance is hidden behind a shelf just like the Bow cave.

Han: There is a house with no door but a cracked wall, that should lead you to the arrows. The other one is a house with a purple roof left side of the village with a cracked door. Bomb that and that should lead you to the bow.

Brandon: right, up, up, left. Make sense now?

king-n: That key is used for the big chest for the power rod. To get you started on the right foot (everyone else pay attention!). Lower the blue blocks first and from the dungeon entrance screen, head left, over the lowered blue blocks, hop over, head right. You'll be underneath a catwalk, explore around a bit to find a hidden path over to the right side! GASP! hidden path! This should put you on the right path to the power rod.

Evan the Great: You're out of luck, it only gets harder.

Nuvo: Thanks for the comments! icon_smile.gif

I am only half (?) done level 1 and this is one incredible quest. I am not sure where I will find the time to navigate the whole thing -- oh yeah, give up sleeping! icon_biggrin.gif Thanks for all the time and effort that went into this. Thank goodness the overworld map is viewable or this quest would be impossible.

I was actually a bit surprised that I beat level 1 without any help. But I got a feeling I'm going to need to collect more HCP. Even with 5 hearts, the enemies in the lava region are tough.

Read up on the readme during your breaks, it has a lot of valuable information. Including how many HC Pieces you can collect before you even SET FOOT into a dungeon.

Deathbringer: You definitely should have 6 or 7 hearts when attempting the second level. The lava region is tough, especially if you wander too far to the other side of the Lava Flows that is supposed to be explored after you're much stronger. But one of the things I like about LI is the freedom you have when exploring... you just have to be careful not to get too lost on a tough region or the enemies will rip you apart.

radder1: I gave up sleeping many times when building Lost Isle. icon_wink.gif But you don't have to be like me and sacrifice sleep over a dang custom quest. icon_razz.gif

Zemious: I don't think either Wolfie or I wants to make any money with quests. Just feels kind of... wrong, I dunno. ZC is free entertainment, and even better than money is to see comments that I am reading when browsing through this thread. ^_^

What exactly does that Sword Technique you can learn in the village for 260 Arrows do? Nice to way to get the Big Quiver by the way.

Its the spinning sword technique. Its a little buggy, but DN wasn't available to fix it at the last minute when it was brought up. But its a nice extra bonus and something to spend 260 arrows on for 100% completion.
