Last time I was playing I was using rc3. I read that it has been updated to rc4, should I use this or use the latest rc5?

To be honest, use RC4. I don't quite like some of the bugs that I'm seeing in RC5. I'm totally all for checking for bugs from the latest revision, but for the purposes of playing a specific quest for a legitimate play-through, (Such as a certain MeleeWizard's blind playthrough...) , I suppose use RC4. icon_unsettled.gif

New version. Kinda just testing some new graphics and item drop sets. I added the 10 rupee denomination that was missing and set all of the rupee graphics to their more accurate Ocarina of Time representations. The previous coloration was just silly. Speaking of rupees, I raised the cap on the rupees so we can have over one thousand rupees. Rupee drops are slightly more common now, and I have adjusted shop prices accordingly, as well as having added a Charge Ring to one of the merchants in the world.

The new wallet caps are as follows:
  • No wallet - 499
  • L1 Wallet - 999
  • L2 Wallet - 2000
  • L3 Wallet - 5000
I also rearranged a few elements of the subscreen around. I'm trying to work a map around somewhere in there. The map system is pretty weird, in-game, and somewhat nonfunctional. It's a mess to work with, really.

I'm also thinking of adding a "Meat" element to the game - Little drops that heal you for 3 hearts and stack to 10 in your inventory. This is in addition to two new levels of potion, which act identically to the previous two, but simply stack twice as high, to four levels of potions, rather than two. Though buying a level 3 potion is very expensive, and a level 4 potion is very expensive.

I also added a fairy right at the start of the intro so you don't have to walk up to the Deku Tree with only one heart and no sword. That's just a little bit sadistic.

... Oh and just for good measures:
DO NOT USE ZC RC5 TO PLAY THIS.

I can in no way predict what effect it will have on the quest. It's not exactly the quest itself that will induce bugs, but bugs native to that version of ZC, though the ladder bug was just fixed.

Though if you really want to help test ZC RC5, my hat is off to you, and in theory, we really ought to be playing it in RC5. I just don't want to muddle up the differences between quest bugs and ZC version bugs.

Not sure if this is a ZC or an oversight: One house in Pulcheria village has no warp square set. Meaning, when you exit a certain house, you're put in the top-left part of the screen...on a solid combo.

Oh, wow, my apologies. Thanks for noticing that! Enthusiasm does get the better of me. I've just fixed it. (Indeed!)

I also just implemented meat. It's a tiny bit bugged now, but everything pertaining to the meat itself but the healing aspect works surprisingly well, for a scripted item that I just scripted with nearly no knowledge of scripting. @ @. It heals 1 HP rather than 48 HP. (3 Hearts.) I can just hard-code it to heal 48 hearts, or 1 HP then wait a frame and play the sound effect forty eight times, but I'm doing it with a For Loop, which isn't working just yet, as of the time of this post.

By the way, that house in the screenshot will lead to death's domain. It'll be a pretty freaky little place. icon_razz.gif You'll probably get some kind of warmth-related item that might heal you every now and then or something for a little bit.

I'm currently stuck in the dam. I've made it up to the third floor and there's a locked door impeding my progress. The only key that was used was to get to the switch room on the second floor. Loops and loops were made around the dungeon, bombing walls in a vain attempt to find the key, but to avail.

Did something go wrong here?

There's another key in a room immediately to the west of the screen where you got the map on the first floor of the Dam. You can get there from going left in the room where you can go in all four directions, and there's a pool in the middle, some jumping enemies, and fireballs coming at you from the corner of the screen, just a few screens away.

If you mean the far-left room on the first floor, I already procured the key from there. So, it looks like I'm stuck...or am I? Exhausted every possibility (bombing, pushing blocks and walking through walls) and there's a room on the second floor that is out of my reach. That is, bombing or walking through walls won't cut it.

Oh, I thought you got and used only one key so far. I listed the second one. icon_unsettled.gif There is another key in plain sight on the right side of the first floor as well. You get to it by dropping down a hole on the second floor, where there is (was?) an Aquamentus, then going around to the right side of the first floor.

May I assume that you haven't raised the water level just yet? If so, from the entrance, go east one, go up the stairs, go west one, and bomb the north wall, then unlock the door to the east, then in the next room, raise the water level. If you have already done this, we can proceed from there...

I dispatched the Aquamentus on the second floor and raised the water level. There's supposed to be a hole but it's covered by water. Is there another way to get around it and missed it in my haste?

Well, I just looked over the level, (People always have trouble with the Dam moreso than any other level. It's odd. Maybe just because it's the first difficult'ish key-hunt.) and from the look of the situation, my best advice is to remember where the keys are that I just described. Once you raise the water level AND have gotten both of the keys, you shouldn't have any issues. There is another key in the room to the south-west of the room with the switch that raises the water level. You can just walk across the blocks to get it, then walk straight to the door you need to unlock.

The only door that you need to unlock is to get into the switch room. There are two keys accessible to you by that point. Once you raise the water level, you can immediately get the level's third key to its southwest. There are two locked doors after that; one to get to the third floor, and one to get into the boss room. But you've only used one of the level's three keys by that point, and still have one left. It'll work.

It's a clockwise path around the second floor to the third floor. Not a big level.

------------------

Fun fact: There are a lot of areas that were never implemented into casual gameplay. Half of the Lost Woods are in one map, slightly different, and unused, and on the same map as the Dam, are two entire floors worth of functional Excavation levels that I don't think have any way to get to them.

Thanks a bunch! I beat the boss and got the Flippers. The problem was that I was somehow overlooking the room to the right on the first floor. Somehow missed the stairway and didn't notice it until a few minutes ago.

Now off to the next destination...and hopefully I can find an upgrade to this shield. hopefully it won't get eaten by Like-Likes. icon_razz.gif

Edit: Found a new bug:

IPB Image

Edit 2a: The under combo outside of the cave is incorrect. Instead of it being a bush, it's a side of the ground.
Edit 2b: The equipment shop that's accessible by the Flippers near the Lost Woods has the same problem as the screenshot. I can't see anything with the layer bugging out.

Oh, outside of which cave, please, for edit2a?

I'll get you a fixed version of that in just a little bit. Overwrite the current quest version with it.

Also, I added a new shield that's purchaseable when you have the Candle and the L2 Wallet. It can't be eaten by Like Likes. A bit expensive, but enemies should be dropping a bit more cash now. The place to find the shop (that I just created for it) is roughly in the middle of Hyrule. It's two screens diagonally to the southeast of the entrance to the Dam, and the screen directly north of the darknut/arrow minigame in Pulcheria Village. Again though, you need the L1 candle to get in there. It has L2 shields pretty cheap though.

Okay, new version. Use RC4, etc.
