That thing is a Moblin? I... that's different. Moblins were always portrayed as stocky (or occasionally buff) pig/dog hybrid things. This is quite a departure. I wouldn't have said Goriya, but definitely not Moblin either.

The point I'm making though is if all it's online features are built into the main campaign, are you surprised that pausing isn't an option?
I'm surprised pausing isn't an option when playing in offline mode, which all the Demon's Souls, Dark Souls and Blood Borne games feature.

Offline mode still isn't technically offline and I don't even think it's an option if your console has internet connection. It is and it isn't from my experience with the games. The game is built from the ground up to be an online experience. You can technically consider offline mode to be still an online mode with online features "hidden" more or less because there is no internet for it to include those things.
Still overall, the game is built to be an online experience, and if your console has internet, the game will force you into the online experience.
Now I believe there are ways to turn this off, but I don't think it's a normal feature included in the game. I believe the game uses online features the moment your console or pc has an internet connection. Don't quote me on any of this because I'm not entirely sure though.

I'm pretty sure Bloodborne at least gives you the option to launch the game in offline mode, I'll double check that tomorrow.

So we have confirmation that those bird people are, in fact, Rito. Specifically, in this scan: http://www.zeldainfo...17/02/scan2.jpg
By all accounts, it states that the species in question is a Rito. That's quite a drastic redesign, then. Also, we have Zoras coexisting with their evolved forms. I don't know if this necessarily "basically confirms" there's a timeline merger deal happening, but it does raise a lot of questions.

Actually, this might explain the weird discovery found in Twilight Princess HD, along the walls before Hyrule Castle were stone walls depicting Gorons, Zoras, Ooccoo and Rito along with a young Link, an older Zelda(?) and a mysterious old man. This is... interesting to say the least because there was an interview where Aonuma said there would be a lot of "Oh, I see!"-moments between Twilight Princess and Breath of the Wild. Maybe it was an easter egg, but it's a weird one at that.
At this point they really better have a great explanation on the timeline placement. It's all over the place and if it merges, it'd be weird because the three timelines feel so vastly different. Adult timeline, Hyrule is flooded and a new Hyrule was founded. Child timeline is probably the most successful for Hyrule and Decline... well, the kingdom is on a roller-coaster in that timeline. My best guess is Rito and Korok evolved due to Calamity Ganon. They aren't exclusive to adult since their previous forms were Zoras and Kokiris which existed in the unified timeline. Though it is odd to see Zoras co-existing with Rito unless these Zoras are somewhat different... maybe ocean Zoras? I'm willing to accept any position in the timeline as long as it makes sense and has a great explanation.
One thing's for certain, we're a month away! Still hard to believe.

I keep hearing about this image in TPHD. Have a screenshot or something? I'd like to look at it.

The only explanation I can think of for this is:
Nintendo gave up on the timeline.

You've now joined the league of people who's already realized this ages ago.
I've stopped caring about the timeline when I realized Nintendo doesn't care about the timeline. Probably why I stopped working on timeline focused quests like Souls of Wisdom and started creating timeline mocking quests like TRIFORCE. lol

You could tell they at least had a basic set of rules for the timeline while bullshitting up several other things. This latest thing though is making me think they gave up on those basic rules as well.
Hell, maybe this does turn out to be some sort of timeline merger so they can actually focus on continuity. Or they still don't care.

I don't think they cared about the timeline at all, they just haphazardly made one when asked about it. It doesn't make much sense if you follow the games at all. Why would the "Tragedy of Princess Zelda I" be so late in the series on the timeline where The Hero of Time failed? The Tragedy of Princess Zelda I was that she was put to sleep for eternity by a wizard and from that point on every first female born into the family would be named Zelda, which explains all the different Zelda's throughout the series. But... it doesn't explain anything when it's at the end of the damn time line!

I think the explanation was that "Zelda" was still a common princess name in the royal family (and since the first princess had that name, it's not hard to see why). So we just coincidentally get to meet a princess named Zelda a lot, and then they made it mandatory later anyway.
Random note, but just realized how this could technically still fit in the Child Timeline, even with the "many battle against Ganon" quote from Aonuma. Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess, Four Swords Adventures... it's a stretch, but it could work!
(Note: I don't really believe this takes place on the Child Timeline.)

Considering how much Aonuma has spoken about the timeline, I think it's fair to say they care to some degree. I'd be surprised if at this point the timeline doesn't play even just a minor role in the game. I don't think the timeline is perfect but I think I'm in the minority when I say I'm fine with it existing. I just hope after all this time that Breath of the Wild will at the very least be coherent with its placement on the timeline given how much Aonuma has teased about it.
Also, I always felt this was going to be a child timeline game. I'm open to decline but after the recent hint on the timeline placement, I say nope to adult timeline.
