This game has honestly gotten me wondering how much space they wasted on a lot of other games with crappy graphics or just being too short to enjoy. I mean, I always thought that the reason most of these games were the way they are were lack of space on the disc. This game showed me that simply isn't the reason, and I want to know just what kind of games we'd be getting if they decided to utilize all the disc space available.

Eh, disk size has practically nothing to do with game quality or even game size. Ultima 7 is less than 25 MB if you don't include the Serpent Isle expansion (which is big enough to be a sequel in its own right, really). The real things that suck down disk space are highly-detailed models and textures, which Super Paper Mario lacks.

Oh, I knew what kind of game it was beforehand. I saw the first part of an LP for the game, and I own Thousand Year Door. I liked the idea of mixing RPG stuff into a side-scrolling game, I just felt that it could have been done much better.

Actually, I was talking to Orin. From his post it sounds like he was expecting the Pit of 100 trials to be Dragon's Den. That's not how the paper mario series has ever worked, and SPM is really only a Paper Mario game in name and art style only.

Hell, Forge of Virtue is an expansion Pack. It's got its fair share of content, and expands your character quite nicely, buffing them well above and beyond what you were before. 60 Strength? Egads! The Black Sword? May as well just lay down and die right now. I never considered Serpent Isle to be an expansion at all. It can't be. It took me longer to beat than Black Gate and Forge of Virtue combined. So much to explore. So much to do. ... So much backtracking. icon_razz.gif

Finally getting around to keeping a promise and am working my way through the first Ace Attorney game for DS. And so far, I hate it.

What do you hate about it? The sometimes very obtuse puzzle solutions in court, the pixel hunting in the investigation sections, the all-around horrifyingly bad UI and typography, or the ridiculous character designs and repetitive animations?

FLAME SHIELD: Anyone else who may be reading, don't take this the wrong way, I love the Phoenix Wright series.

How far in the game are you? Some cases are rather dull and feel like filler, such as case 1-3, in my opinion. Case 1-4 and 1-5 are my favorites from the first game.

Series-wise, I'd have to say my favorite is the last one of Trials and Tribulations. My least favorite was the last one of Justice for All, but that might be partially because the first time I played that one, my save file got corrupted near the end and I had to restart from the beginning.

I'm only on the second case, but the horrifyingly slow text speed is killer, not to mention there's so much text to read. There's too much text, not enough game. I want to feel more involved in puzzle games; observation is always key, sure, but that's a little too much observation for so little action. The pixel-hunting is only mildly irritating, because Other M's is so much worse. I don't really mind the animations or the over-the-topness (which does grate though), there's just... why isn't this some flash game somewhere. I feel it would be better suited to that medium than trying to pass it off as a video game.

Phoenix Wright isn't a puzzle game, it's a visual novel that happens to be on a console. Reading all the words is the whole point. What few gameplay elements there are are purely there to serve the narrative. Move forward with that in mind, and the experience will be much better.

It's a "puzzle game" in a sense, but yeah, I was getting visual novel vibes, hence the "Flash game" line. And I'm not a fan of visual novels, so that's probably why I don't like it so far.

You dislike the Phoenix Wright games, claiming that they're enjoyable but there's just far too much text...

I'm sorry, but I couldn't help but laugh upon reading that. I understand where you're coming from, but I still found it funny.

Here's the thing. The next time you pick up your DS and decide to play some more, get yourself into the same mood you'd be in if you were reading a book. This series isn't a game, but a visual novel. It's basically a book that's been put onto a screen to supply images and music to enhance the mood. A very elaborate, electronic "Choose-Your-Own-Adventure" book, to put it bluntly.

I never anywhere said it was enjoyable. O.o

But like I said... I couldn't care less about visual novels. Unfortunately I promised said friend I'd play the whole game through, or else I'd just stop.

I decided to take a break from my 100% run of Super Mario Sunshine and decided to replay Paper Mario: TTYD again, this time with a challenge. My current challenge is to restrict my FP usage and have devised a great way for efficient FP usage, involving the Flower Saver and Happy Flower badges. Just beaten Chapter 2 and currently at 25 HP, 10 FP and 9 BP. Boy, am I going to be overdosing on syrups when I get to Cortez and then the Shadow Queen.
I am also playing Four Swords (25th Anniversary edition) and took three attempts at Hero's Trial 2. The third was my most successful, getting me to Zone III before I ragequit at a cramped room that had Six Gidbos spawn in it (what were you thinking Grezzo?).
Also, I claim the 1,000th reply!

Guild Wars 2. Got a level 3 Human Thief right now. Don't worry, I have my rampant kleptomania under control. When it flares up, I take something for it. Harr harr.

Fallout New Vegas. Never did actually finish the game itself, just most of the side-quests. I'm going back to finish things up. Maybe I'll take a little walk with Benny this time around. Ring a ding ding, baby.

Torchlight 2. Got my level 45 or so Outlander. Packin' Dual Pistols ("My Little Friend" both of them, still level 19 each. D: But they work.) and a Glaive that'll knock yer sawkz off. I really think that Glaive and Stone Pact are completely broken. With stone pact, I just stay inside that little circle and I almost have infinite health. It only has an 8 second cooldown, and the circle lasts longer than that. With a good stack of potions, you're pretty damn good to go.

Borderlands 2. Eh, I finished the main game once with the Assassin, and there's really nothing new to it. I'm on a Commander run, but I've already seen it all, so why bother going through it again?

Having now replaced my 72-pin connector, I've decided to play through Legend of Zelda and Zelda II.
