Though there's a simple fix for that: Save before the race. Sure, you have to walk out there again, but if you want to save money so badly, it's a good tactic.

The best sections, for me, were the last couple dungeons; the Shadow Temple and Spirit Temple. Both of them employed unique concepts that I'd like to see used in future Zelda games. Especially the *ahem* method of transportation in the Shadow Temple.
I also noticed that none of the dungeons were overly complicated. Yes, I am including the Water Temple here. In the original I read that the Iron Boots weren't an item, but rather a piece of equipment, so I can see turning them on and off getting extremely tedious. Overall, I'd give the game a 9.5/10.

Deku stick trick? Never heard of that. Mind explaining?
I was referring to this:

I'm currently writing a walkthrough for GameFAQs if anyone is interested. It's going great, I'm at the Fire Temple now. I'm trying to get everything as early as possible, ad I've never had this much stuff at this point in the game!
I was thinking of doing one for MQ, since you can do a lot of "sequence breaking" in that run. After the forest temple, I went directly to the ice cave, and I intend on getting the longshot from the water temple next, and ultimately, the Biggoron sword before even setting foot in the Fire Temple. I don't remember if you need the hammer at all in the MQ water temple...

Huh. That's a kinda weird glitch. But why use a deku stick? Sure just jump attacking with the sword would work too?

The hardest part about this walkthrough is that at one point my Golden Skulltula Token count in the walkthrough didn't match up with my count in the game, and I had to individually go back through each Skulltula to find the problem. It turns out I saw one, wrote about it, then forget to kill it, hehe.

Good luck with the Water Temple! It is a tad bit confusing, but if you thouroughly search each room on your first go it makes it a lot easier.

Oh and it's not just 200 Rupees you get for 100 Tokens, it's 200 Rupees every time you talk to him (or something like that). It would be nice, but you get it so damn late in the game

Here's why it works: A jump attack with a Deku stick is as strong as a hit from the Biggoron's Sword. Kind of like how in AlttP, throwing a pot was as strong as a Tempered Master Sword hit. Now, in OoT, if you hit an enemy, then crouch, and stab, your stabs will be as strong as your last attack. So, by jumping, then stabbing, you can kill her with what is equal to four, or maybe three Biggoron Sword hits. Dunno why it was coded that way though.
This is like, my 7th or 8th time playing through Ocarina of Time. I've come to realize that the Water Temple isn't hard at all. It's just that it's easy to miss a small key and not remember where you have already looked. Also, changing the water level if you missed something is kind of tedious. Other than that, it's a fairly simple dungeon actually

I agree about the Water Temple. It stopped giving me trouble years ago, when I learned to remember that key in the center room
