Im sorry to come up with this again but Lost Isle is still slow i made it to level 1 but with all the lag it feel's so boring to play. so 1 more time could someone find out why the build is slow cause i mean ZC launcher is supposed to fix that but it only makes the menu's go faster.

OK then, I put my review about Lost Isle here. Lighlight the following text, but beware of maximally heavy spoilers that definitely ruin the game for you if you haven't finished it!

<spoiler>

I started this quest with extreme expectations, being ready for it will be far better than any other, especially featurewise. It was a great thought. Immediately when starting, I felt that "closed exploration" that I felt during Wolfstyle DX and it quickly expanded into "not so closed exploration" with some Hidden Duality feeling. The dark theme maintained the closed/isolated feeling well. I felt a little disturbed without the sword, I wasn't sure where it can be, but getting it caused relievement. I was surprised that I got into the village so fast, I expected the plains to be bigger, but no frustration here, I was excited about what will I find here. I enjoyed the exploration so so much that I can't express it. Linearity is for chickens!

Level 1:
Upon entering, I felt the expectation-excitement again. I was amazed by how welldetailed the dungeon is, despite the fact that there were just a few objects on the floor. I immediately realized that it's the OoT water temple, but t wasn't as frustrating. My intuition led me well. Near the end, I was travelling through a dried canal with half a heart... When I saw the boss, I thought it's only the "appetiser". I also thought that I shouldn't kill the slow lanmola, because it's a trap. I was relieved that it was such easy, but would be happy for something like the Chrono Trigger boss in MMDWRDC. I found the comeback HCP without help, go me.

Level 2:
Very nicely done, hard to find. The lava land below it was frustrating... at first. The dark/light side wasn't used to it's extent, since now it seemed like a simple two floor dungeon. Not like the two floors were each other's counterpart or something. But at least it was extreme well layouted. At first, I was going in circles because I didn't realize a crystal. There were a lot of frustrating parts, my head ached sometimes. When getting the last key, the bomb fuse blew me into the warp, so I had to start over... The boss was harder and more fun, but I still missed the awesome customness and hardness.

Level 3:
This dungeon felt big! The falling below was an interesting theme, learning new ocarina song is also great. The 4x4 maze was hard, I always fell down... I also needed to use the secret key here. I got the last key after beating the boss. I was frustrated that there was just a key in those caves, I expected some big secrets... The boss was hard, but interesting enough. I didn't even expect some big customness now.

Level 4:
My favourite level! It took a little time to realize the differences between the powered and depowered versions. I so so knew that there would be some robotic areas. I hnestly thought that there will be Megaman, too. Especially when I heard about the Fire Chip. I was like "Link attaches a fire chip into himself? No, he will be surely replaced with Megaman...". At first, I didn't realize that I need to press those glowing numbers... The "plague technology" made me remember the "Nightmare technology" in Megaman X6 and the boss looked like a Nightmare from that game... I liked that boss, at least some customness... The miniboss was great, too! The lab entries were exciting!

Level 5:
The magma area was rather annoying, it felt like Master Dome. The 4 subareas were good, it made me remember the first 4 dungeons. The boss was extra mega amazing! Really cool moves, fair difficulty (with red suit...), possibility to evade attacks.

Nightmare:
Great chaotic randomness! Something special on every screen! The sad panda was my favourite. I found my way on the "layer" screens immediately and I also immediately understood the "dead end is the answer" hint. That mirrorobe was cruel. Then I needed to collect a lot of arrows...

Catacombs:
Very hard, more than mediumly enjoyable. The layout was sure great, but it was so so frustrating! So, it wasn't trial and error... Who knew...? The lava area was an exciting maze. The boss was also great, especially great for running out of bombs.

Master Dome:
It was very enjoyable! I managed to find tactics in every room, sometimes got to the boss with only 1 heart loss. I found my way to the miniboss after very long. That death knight was very cruel, especially that I didn't know that I can trap it within those red tiles! Thinking back, 20 deaths here was a great doing.

As for bosses, I really wanted big custom bosses. I don't know why they weren't there, they wouldn't have any disadvantage and Peteo could do astounding ones with these shiny new features... As for items, I was frustrated. I like when I have big power: L4 sword, L3 ring, Nayru's love, etc... It is a great feeling. You surely omitted them to make the quest harder, however it could be hard even with those items. I guess there wasn't hammer to make darknuts hammer and the absence of the hookshot (My favourite item!) is to not to stun wizzrobes.

As for the ending. I really really REALLY don't know what was so surprising for others in it. After the lab in Level 4, the story unfolded continiously, making the outcome even more clear. The lab entries told about the story of Worlach, the storytelling before the final battle was rather interesting that surprising (So, the 4 bosses are the former friends of Morlan...). It was also clear that Morlach will break the seal, also that it will be defeated and when one of the ghosts say "Free us!" it will be also clear that they wil be freed after Morlach is killed. The only unexpected thing were is the deliberating of Marlan's soul, but it also wasn't THAT astounding. This is called happy end. I guess the extra island is the remains of Lost Isle. Upon arriving, I thought Link went back in time and he will be Worlach or Morlon or the founder of Oderra. The Fire Boomerang became mine! I finally could play with it on Lost Isle. I love it.

There are some speculations. How have Worlach became created? According to Link's last words, there are a lot of such Worlachs in the world, can we expect Lost Continent? I really liked the "damaged Worlach" tiles...

Now, I'm waiting forward to know about your argues about Lost Isle... Also, I'm waiting forward a possible tile release, altough it won't be a pleasure cruise to recolor them to DoR...

As for emotions, while HoD almost made me cry (before Level 7), Lost Isle just made me angry-hyped (when Morlach told its story before battle). Still, Lost Isle is my favourite. Made me want to play MMDWRDC and some DFW quests again.

I love both of you! You are great!

End of spoiler. I told you not to read it. icon_shrug.gif

HeavyTitanium: have you ever had problems running any other versions of Zelda Classic? So it is just the game that is sluggish, not the menus? I have no clue about the technical problems of ZC, but it could be so that your computer is just not powerful enough or for some reason your computer doesn't like ZC. Hopefully someone could help you trying to solve your ZC problem... icon_unsettled.gif

Thanks for the review CC! I always enjoy reading them. You guys have no idea how happy it makes me to see people using some of their precious time to make lenghty and thorough reviews of your own work. icon_smile.gif

And now some comments:

Level 2

Hmm... I was wondering... what do you mean "wasn't used to its extent? I was just wondering were you expecting more or do you have some good ideas how you would have done the level otherwise?

QUOTE

Can we expect Lost Continent?

Well anything is possible in this world, but don't be expecting a sequel for this quest. I've had enough of Wolfie and Zelda themed quests so I doubt there ever will be anotehr Lost Isle. Or if there will be one, I won't have any part in it.

QUOTE

Now, I'm waiting forward to know about your argues about Lost Isle...

Oh yes, I will be posting some of our arguments soon. They will surely be great entertainment. Of course I have to show the chosen pieces to Wolfie for approval before I can post them.

As for big custom bosses, you said you wanted more, and it is understandable. I wanted to make more as well but Wolfie didn't like the idea of too many custom bosses and to be honest, adding a custom boss to every single level would have delayed the game so much. So yeah, there aren't many custom bosses, but the few that are there are very smooth and exciting, aren't they?

Interesting theory about the four bosses being Morvayn's original friends. Never really leaned one way or another to that story point. However, Worlach (now Morlach) is a soul eater and derives its power from the current soul it has consumed. As an identifier, The first letter of his name indicates the name of the soul he LAST consumed. In this case it was Morvayn. However, his previous soul was probably weak enough to the point it was effecting his powers so that he could be trapped and sealed in a volcano. So Worlach got smart this time and instead of sucking souls left and right like he usually did, he waited and specifically targeted Morvayn for the sole reason for the vast amount of power that soul would give him.
Thankfully for Morvayn's soul, he was the last one he devoured, so he could be saved if Morlach died. Otherwise, he'd be just like whoever's name started with a 'W', who when Morvayn became the current soul, his was lost forever, never to be reclaimed by any afterlife. A cruel fate indeed.
Hope that clears up a way about how Morlach works, but not necessarily where he came from, I leave that wide open to speculation and debate.

Peteo:
As for Level 2... You see, the light/dark are each opposites. But the light level and the dark level in that dungeon are just two separate floor, separated by simple stairs. The only positive thing is that it's visible that one floor is normal and another is a ceiling in fact. However, that ceiling is simply another floor. There could be something that refers for the fact that it's a ceiling with reverse gravity, besides that the clouds are visible when looking down. Apparently, a dark/light change could be represented that one floor is the inverted form of the another. So, all in all, if the names are each other's opposite, the floors itselves should have been opposite, too. However, it would have given less variety. So, no blaming.
As for bosses, yes the existing custom bosses are great. Sometimes I felt some are like a 2D picture compared to the 3D effect of some MMDWRDC bosses, but they were still good. Both of you have good fantasy. (Of course... Me, captain obvious...)

DFW:
Why I thought that the 4 bosses are Morlan's friends? Well, Morlan's friends were turned into Morlachs the first time, they are very powerful, capable to be bosses and they are four, just like the bosses. I have a soft side for girls (I'm really not just saying it, you know.), so I felt a little more angry-hyped when that girl was turned into a Morlach. Plus, those first Morlachs estabilished the 4 dungeons, not? The vintage pictures showed that...
Anyway... if Worlach/Morlach gets the first letter of its name by absorbing a person... then its initial name was Orlach... *makes searches, looks up dictionaries* Well, putting "Orlac" into the image search returns horrified vintage people. Does Orlach mean nightmare, fear or such? Let's say, Orlach needed to absorb a soul upon birth.

Now, spoilers!
There are some interesting parts... If Morlach has a death blow, why didn't it use it right at the beginning? And why didn't it used again after the revival? If Morlon could be absorbed instantly, then why wasn'T Link absorbed instantly? Morlach says Link holds great power... Does the Triforce still have effect on Link?

Yes, this is an interesting quest for sure...

you make a good point, but the same could also be said of Ganondorf. If he can raise castles from the ground, destroy Midna's super form with a single blow and countless other feats of great power/magic, why can't he just snap his fingers and Link dies? Simply put, he can't. Even though Link may or may not have the power of the triforce behind him or in his possession, he has been ordained by the goddesses as the Hero of Courage and this probably grants him certain protections against various magicks. (work with me here) So regardless of how powerful Morlach was/is, he STILL is no match for that which created the world: the goddesses and ultimately the triforce they left behind. He is only a demi-god after all. Furthermore, he still has to subdue the victim and kill them before absorbtion can be complete, and since Morvayn did not have that protection that goddesses would have provided as the Hero of Courage, Morvayn was easily overtaken and consumed. Link was not and cannot be consumed unless he ultimately dies. Morlach realizes this and tries his best to kill you long before you get to him, where he has no choice but to match his powers against the protection and power that you have behind you given by the goddesses. Does this make more sense or am I missing more plot holes? XD

EDIT: As for the 4 original friends being the bosses of each of the major temples, I'll leave that to you to decide. I won't make a confirmation there, you explain how it happened and how they became the way you see them finally in game. Its a interesting theory, but not one I'm willing to buy just yet, but it would make it more poignant though, wouldn't it?

With all these hiding and "leave to debate" I can hardly imagine that you haven't already made plans for LI2... [/serious] (note that I'm not demanding you to make a sequel)

As for the battle with Sigma Ganondorf... yes, I was thinking much about how can't he just clap twice and claim the whole world as his... But it's like that in every story that involves magic. In Lord of the Rings, Sauron why don't teleports the Ring back to himself? Similarly why don't magical people teleport everything to themselves and kill thei enemies with a clap? Because it wouldn't be a story then...
But you have good point in saying that Worlach is a demi-god, not god. I considered it to be a plain demon from the beginning... I suspect there are a lot of extra secrets there... CastChaos approves.

You can make this as deep as you want it to be. I left enough stuff 'open' so you can fill all the gaps in with whatever you decide fits 'your version' of the story. I just had to explain how Morlach worked and explain that whatever is in Lost Isle currently is 'canon.' So anything else is just speculation. So its fun that some people are looking deeper into the story and making it into something more than what it originally was/is. Makes Petoe and I feel 'smart!' XD

OK, here is what I thought up... SPOILERS

Hundreds of years ago...

Lost Isle was taken over by Orlach. Orlach absorbed a soul to fully start its life. Thus became Worlach created. Ancient demon Worlach, one demi-god terrorized the inhabitants of Lost Isle. They created a barrier to seal Worlach into the volcano. The barrier was succesful and Worlach got sealed. As for the escape attempts of Worlach... A warrior, Morvayn got lured to Worlach. Worlach stole his soul and became Morlach. Morlach turned Morvayn's friends into Morachs and killed off the isle inhabitants. The Morachs built a water dungeon for a base, defeated Bhalstok Castle and started to experiment with magic and technic. They sealed the only weapons capable to kill Morlach. Morlach started to break the barrier, kill even the Morachs and destroy Lost Isle to unleash the evil power on all lands. Link, the Hero of Courage shipwreked on the island and started to explore it. Soon he found out about the evilness and started to cross the plans of Morlach. Link found the secret notes about Morach's past, retrieved the secret weapon and destroyed the core of Orlach. Before dying, Orlach revived the killed Morachs and alerted the other evil demi-gods. Link barely escaped with his life from the island...

Present time...

There are so much evil power on the ruined Earth that the holy seals barely work. And... a wind mage is...

your last part made no sense! XD But regardless, he didn't just consume 'one soul' and become Worlach. He consumed many souls up to that point. As I stated earlier. He is a soul eater and derives his power from souls. (don't try and argue the creator! XD) However, the strength and will of each soul he has 'currently consumed' directly effects the strength and purity of the power 'Orlach' wields. So when he became Worlach, he became somewhat degenerated in his power due to the weak soul he consumed. At this time, Worlach was probably not quite aware of the effect certain souls would have on him and as a result, he was defeated and sealed by the villagers at that time. So Worlach got smart and realized his grevious error, so he bided his time for centuries until a soul strong enough was born: Morvayn. And the rest is...history.
