Hah! That alone makes me want to get this game. Y'know, for the entertainment factor. Ya' see Russ, they did add something new! Bahahahahaha!
Reply below, same answer, sort of.

That actually happened to me a lot in the original. Maybe my game was just a bit messed up or something, but, although it didn't happen every time something happened, I was never surprised when it did because it wasn't uncommon. Maybe that's another part they tried to keep close to the original...Y'know, for nostalgia's sake. icon_deformed.gif

...I'm being sarcastic, if nobody picked up on that.
Oh yeah, I know it's not a unique trait of OoT 3D, it happened to me all the time in the old releases as well; what I am saying is that it's one of those things they really should have fixed. Yes, as Ornlu said, it is hilarious, and yes, I have laughed at the hilarity of it, though I still feel it's an obvious fault of the game that they totally should have cleared up. It just makes it seem a little unpolished, and... I really don't like it when that happens in games, but hey, I'm playing Ocarina of Time on a handheld in sweet ass 3D, and it's f***ing awesome, so I won't complain... much icon_razz.gif

This so freaking much. I think this is honestly one of the best posts on this thread. I might side with some of the points of the naysayers, but reading this, I suddenly could care less whether it's got a boatload of new content or not. Nintendo knows what they're doing and don't hate their fans; it's just the makers of Kirby games that do that. *runs*Hyrule Field was beautiful and still is. Just because it's your opinion that it sucks doesn't mean it's everyone else's. MAYBE a couple enemies would make it better, but that's about it. Except for Lake Hylia, the regions it branches off to are still well-designed and interesting. And it's still bigger than Termina Field.

Conclusion: The only thing that could improve it would be more enemies. And even without them I somehow doubt I'd care.

Moral of the story folks: Who gives a damn what all the naysayers think as long as, at the end of the day, you enjoy the game. Which I do immensely. Although ALttP is still a better game with better dungeons, better overworld handling, better well everything except some bosses are easy. Unless I'm just too used to them. But then again ALttP is better than every Zelda so never mind. icon_deformed.gif

Also stop trying to ask "Does this justify $40?" cuz it's already been tried and failed; besides, people will spend their money on what they want to spend it on, end of story. Besides, Star Fox 64 3D is $45; go complain about that instead. Cuz that's even more outrageous. At this point, all the possible naysaying that could be said has been said; while it was valid before, now it's just old and at this point pretty spammy. The game's out, all the changes (or lack thereof) have been confirmed, there's nothing that can be done or said, so stop saying it. Move along, please. Also this. *flees*

But yeah, your question's been basically answered, ICL. Just follow the instructions and you should be able to figure out the entrance to the second dungeon fairly simply.

This 100% Thank you TS! I am one of the people who never played the original N64 copy and i am having a blast playing from the all-new experience perspective. I grew up with ALTTP and i am now starting to see why OoT is known as the best game ever. I am glad nintendo only touched up the graphics and polygons and left everything else the same.

Does the Gerudo Training Ground not reset? I may be remembering incorrectly, but I'm pretty sure if you ran out of keys, or otherwise "failed" you could leave, and re-enter, and the whole thing would reset. Otherwise, how are you supposed to go through it again if you wasted a key on either of those two doors between the north fire room, and the central key room?

Oh well... I'm probably missing/ forgetting something pretty damn simple. >.>

EDIT: On the note of the engine, it's definitely not the original engine, but I do believe it is modified/ based off of the same code. The "turning when you hit a trigger" thing seems too exact to have been a programming mis-hap twice icon_wink.gif

And, I had almost forgot to even play the GTG this time through. I kind of forgot is existed, despite it being one of my favorite dungeons in the game. Mainly because it is pretty damn non-linear, and plays out a lot like a dungeon form AlttP. I really hope you can play through it multiple times. And, don't tell me it is not a dungeon, because, it clearly is, and it is larger than either of the first two. Who needs a boss, map, compass, or boss key to be a dungeon? Pssh, not it.

N64 version doesn't reset if you leave. There's enough keys for every locked door if you know where to look icon_wink.gif and no I don't recall it being possible to get "stuck".

Let me rephrase: it's not neccessarily a new engine, but it's not the OoT engine. I don't have a source, but it was stated by Miyamoto, if I recall correctly, and it was also explained in a small press-release the press was emailed about six months ago. I don't have the press-release anymore though (who saves those, when you get multiple a day? icon_razz.gif)
Anyways, you know what really bothers me? There are some crazy annoying visual glitches that seriously takes me out of the experience. Every now and then when you complete a secret or whatever, the following cutscene will require Link to face a certain direction, and if he's not, he'll start spinning around in one spot like crazy, sometimes moving his face up towards the sky at the same time. It looks stupid as hell, and I can't believe the beta testers didn't notice it (like, seriously, I can't believe they didn't. Someone must have had lazy beta testers). This has happened to me multiple times during each dungeon. Why in gods name didn't they fix this?!

I couldn't possibly imagine this game running on the original OoT engine. The original OoT used an N64-era engine that was converted from the Super Mario 64 engine. Game companies don't keep using engines for that long. They just aren't sufficient for much more advanced hardware.

As for that bug: weird; I remember a scene in the original OoT where something similar happened. It only happened once, and I thought it was intentional. When you activate a secret trigger, something starts rotating, and young Link looks upward and starts spinning in circles with it during the "secret triggered" cut scene. I thought they were just trying to be cute.

Activate the spinning pot in Goron City, Link does that. Happened in the original OoT, still happens in the new OoT. That makes me wonder if it really was a glitch, or they were just trying to make this game extremely close to the original.

Also: Play Master Quest, go to the grave where you learn the Sun's Song, and look at the wall the song in written on. It says "1337" on it. I lol'd a little when I saw it.

Yeah, I found the last two keys pretty quick after posting >.>. One was in room with the big block. I didn't bother killing all the Wolfos' the first time, an the second one was an invisible chest I missed in the room with the like likes, and yellow rupee which you get too from the room with the big block.

Fun dungeon, but all in all, the Ice Arrows are virtually useless in this game.

Okay, that settles it. I think they were just trying to be cute there. icon_smile.gif

The key I frequently forget is one you have to climb a caged wall up (You need lens of truth to see that there's a room up there)

I'm the opposite, I always remember that key because of that. I just forget which room you get to it from sometimes. The ones I typically miss are any of the ones in a chest that appears with other chests, that may be invisible, and I forget to check for with the lens. Well, actually, I think there is only one key like that.

Just finished the Fire Temple! This game is fantastic! I can now see why this game is known as the greatest game of all time. It has now become my favorite Zelda ever with A Link To The Past. Now off to the Water Temple, wish me luck guys! ;/

Depends on when you obtain them. I got them right after the Ice cavern and have been spamming Ice arrows since.

The bugs were intended to not be ironed out:
Shun Moriya: One conflict arose when, as programmers, we wanted to get rid of bugs. But the staff members who had played the old game said the bugs were fun! We were like, “What?!” (laughs)

So I finally got to try it, particularly Master Quest, and the dungeons seem changed from even the original Master Quest version (and I mean more than just it being mirrored), though I could be wrong. Regardless, the whole double damage deal? That was a good move on their part. Kept me on my toes while I learned how to adjust to that damned thumbpad.
