I pretty much live in a fairly forested coastal suburb. There are no mountains in sight, and said coast is of the Long Island Sound, not an actual ocean coast. I do live about an hour from NYC, though, so that kinda makes up for the lack of cool terrain - although I don't go into the city except for full-day things and such.
In related news, the end-of-school crush is coming for me... and I really shouldn't be posting on forums. There's only about 20ish days left, exams included, which kinda unnerves me.
Ah well. I only work under pressure, really.

No mountains for me around here. As for the nearest body of water, that would be the Niagara River, which is only a10-15 minute drive away to the west, but the portion nearest me is blocked by a highway. It is right around where the river splits in two on its northbound flow, eventually to merge back together, with Grand Island representing the land it surrounds. As for the near vicinity, it is all just trees and buildings for me.

...sadly for ShadowTiger, I do not live on Long Island; instead I live on the mainland.
Just needed to clear that up.

I live right smack in the middle of Manhattan, which is kinda scenic in its own way, but there isn't all that much "nature" to speak of; the parks are nice, but from what I gather they're mostly artificial, though I've heard that parts of Inwood Hill Park are more-or-less untouched from their original state. Obviously, what with Manhattan being an island, it's pretty easy to find water, but...well, I'll leave it for you to decide whether New York harbor counts as "the ocean" or not.

Also, slightly off-topic, but if people are interested, I'd be willing to (help) coordinate another New York City PZC meet-up sometime this summer.

That would be very very awesome. icon_smile.gif I'm wondering if we should book hotels or something. Some of us can just ... "go home" as it were, and meet up the next day somewhere. icon_blah.gif Though that would be rude to the other members.

I'm a bit wary of the water around Manhattan. The Hudson, for example. Filthy water, by rivers' standards. Anyone remember that episode of Seinfeld where Kramer went swimming in it, and came back smelling awful every time?

It's funny you say that, because the Hudson is actually probably the least sketchy of Manhattan's bodies of water. There's been a lot of effort put towards cleaning it up in the past few decades, and from what I hear, it's been working (albeit slowly). Not that I wouldn't still be a little leery of swimming in it, but it's nowhere near as bad as, say, the East River (*shudder*).

As for booking hotels...honestly, it never even crossed my mind that that would be necessary. I'd envisioned this as being a fairly low-key event, along the lines of what we did when Migo came to visit--grab a meal, maybe see a movie, hang out for a bit. Certainly nothing that anyone would travel too far out of their way for. In the unlikely even that finding places for people to stay does become an issue, I can't imagine there'll be more than we can find couches or extra beds for for one night.

I mean, I guess if a lot of people are interested, and we plan this far enough in advance, we might be able to make an actual event out of it...but considering the demographics of this forum, that doesn't seem all that likely to me.

Man you guys are making me wish I lived up there. icon_frown.gif I would love to meet quite a few people here but I guess Alabama isn't the most likely place to find PureZC members. icon_razz.gif

*sigh* I haven't been able to do anything the last couple days. Been sitting at home with some kind of allergy...cold...thing. Not sure what it is.

In other news, the President of Madagascar found out and SHUT DOWN EVERYTHING.

I'd consider a train ride to New York City, but I couldn't go anywhere long distance until the second week of August. It would certainly be interesting. Now that I am getting my enhanced license soon, I would like the opportunity to go to Toronto once again, and even Montreal.

At least you live in the same country as like 90% of PZC members. I guess I live in the same continent though...

I mean, how many other PZC members live in Canada? Like 4 maybe? And I doubt any of them live anywhere near me, I'm probably the only member from BC.

Hey, there are plenty of European members. Joe's in England, Banjo7J and Billy are in Scotland (I think), Migo's in Norway, and a couple of people (Moldorm, I think, and a few others I can't remember) live in Sweden.

Edit: Evile edited his post, so now I have to. Besides you, the only other person I know of is Molten Onyx. Although plenty of people live near Canada. Heck, I drive up to BC all the time.

I actually really want to go to British Columbia. Vancouver, .. a little to the west of it, actually. I mean, really badly. Got a few family members I need to meet up there.
