The graphics give it a refreshing look! I love the shape of it too, much better than being a straight, boring line. Though I have to admit I'm not too big on dirt being used instead of sand, it strikes me as a little odd. Maybe make the orange gates gray/white too? Just thoughts that popped into my mind straight away I guess.

The palette choice gives it a secluded look, I like it.

Thank you!

I actually really like the dirt instead of sand, but I understand your point. I also thought that the gates would look aged and rusty if this color, should I change it?

I threw this together today. It hasn't been decoratified or secreted yet. But I'm trying to work with it.

I get what you were going for, but the thing is (and what I think Shane was getting at), they don't, they look orange. It's an unfortunate limitation of the tile sizes and palette limitations. If you really want to go with the "rusted" look, I'd recommend making a second set of tiles with orange/red/brown splotches. This will make the gates appear to have rusted, in places, which gets the point across better, in my opinion.

I might actually do that!

@Maikeru: that's starting to look like a solid classic map.

Spoiler

This area is called "Secluded Bay", a sort of hidden beach on the south eastern edge of the world.

I'm really liking both the map and the Pokémon RSE vibe from the tileset. Speaking of which, did you make the tileset or is it from somewhere n the site?

Thank you!

The tileset is DoR 1.0 with many imported tiles. The mountains are actually from the pzc database. http://www.purezc.ne...e=tiles&id=1106

That's really neat. I love how using the tileset like that gives it a bigger feeling of elevation when you see it at a distance. Kind of reminds me of Final Fantasy Adventure.

NOTE: Before you look at the map, keep in mind that not all screenshots are in the correct palette. So, some screenshots would look weird.

This "map" is a mash-up of most of the screenshots I have made in EZGBZ, as you can tell, the above screens are nothing compared to the ones down below! Enjoy :D

I know it does not look very good, but is it bearable or just plain horrible? What can I do better?

I really like how it looks. I've never used Firebird myself so I can't really provide any criticism with the tileset usage, but I'd personally say it looks far better than just bearable or horrible.

There is a good amount of tiles not looking well ("tile errors"?) next to each other and since I have no talent spriting not much I can do here. This goes especially for the walls with lower walls and pits. Do you see the small black cracks next to the pits? I overpasted the walls with them where the tiles crashed but I am really unhappy with this solution.

Also I have problems creating caves to look natural and think I did not very well. Still thank you for liking them, I thought I would be overflooded with flaws the map has

The doors don't line up properly, but other than that, I say it's good!
