Been playing "Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale" ever since I saw it on OMFGcata's Fan Friday video. It's a ton of fun, actually. You play as a little girl who's father racked up this massive debt, and skipped out on her, so you open an RPG item shop to try and pay it off before they take away your house. You can buy and sell all different classes of item (food, weapons, armor, treasures, etc.) and you have to try and haggle with the customers to get the best possible profit.

The best part, in my opinion, is the fact that you can hire an adventurer to go searching for items for you, which leads to a dungeon-crawling area where you actively hunt for items you can sell for 100% profit. The catch is, you have limited item space, which means that you have to carefully consider the worth of each item you find. Also, if your adventurer is defeated, you're only able to carry one item back. Doesn't sound too bad until you realize that you don't automatically get back the equipment (weapons/armor) you lent to the adventurer, and they're included in what you have to pick a single item from. Fortunately, if you sold the adventurer an item beforehand in your shop, he'll own it and keep it in his own inventory, meaning that you don't have to decide on whether it's worth bringing back, and can focus on choosing between your newly found items.

This basically means that a very good strategy is to sell things to adventurers so cheaply that it borders on charity. You take an initial loss, but it's worth it while looting the dungeons. Also, each day is split into four portions, and each session you spend running your shop uses op a single portion, while dungeon-crawling uses up two. Also, going to the market or merchant's guild for stock will also eat up a portion of your day for each trip into town, although you can move to multiple places in town without losing more time. (The single portion is only deducted upon your return to the shop.) This means you have to be very careful with time management.

So far, I've managed to pay off the first two bills, and I have a week to scrounge together 80,000pix to pay off the third. I'm planning on running through the second and third portions of the second dungeon again for items, and since the harvest has been very good recently, then I can pick up food (recovery items) for really cheap. The previous harvest was horrible, so I got to charge everybody 250% of the base price for all the food I had on stock. People were trying to sell me food as well at times, and I managed to only pay 60% base price on it, so I was scoring a massive profit.

You know, I really like seeing RPGs from this point of view. It's a lot of fun being the person ripping off the heroes like this.

I beat SMT: Devil Survivor 2. I ended up getting Daichi's Ending A. Overall, this game is a huge improvement over the original Devil Survivor. You have better interaction with characters with the new Fate System, which is very similar to the Social Link system in the Persona series. The gameplay is more polished as well with plenty of new skills, battle tweaks, etc. I also found this game to be a lot more challenging. The "big bosses" in this game are gonna kick your ass compared to the big bosses in the original. Lastly, the storyline is just breathtaking. I say the quality of the story rivals that of Persona 4's storyline, which I thought was one of the best storylines of all time. It's a very well-told plot that follows no cliches that some RPG stories are known for. Those who love turn-based strategy RPGs should definitely give this game a shot. I am extremely satisfied with this game. Probably one the last few gems you can play on the DS. It's definitely on my top 10 JRPGs of this Generation.

SCORE: 5/5

Yeah, I intend on playing Devil Survivor 2 as well, I just have so many unfinished games that I want to do first. I've got Recettear, Final Fantasy IX and X-2, a replay of The World Ends With You (I accidentally screwed up my previous save file by selling an important one-time pin I needed for the secret reports), MegaMan ZX, Castlevania for the NES, etc.

I actually found somebody willing to pay for what's essentially an LP of Guild Wars 2, while looking for jobs. I might actually be getting paid to play a video game!

The first Mega Man is now beaten. Yes, with save states. I don't think I would have gotten far without save states anyways unless I wanted to invest years of practice into that game. icon_heh.gif

I'll probably be moving on to Mega Man 2 shortly, hopefully there were some improvements, Mega Man was a bit unfair with some object and enemy placement, but yes I'm aware Mega Man games were hard, that's kind of their appeal as well as NES games in general. I'm just saying, you can still have a hard game and be fair at the same time. icon_razz.gif

Mega Man was not unfair. You want unfair, try playing Wily Wars on Genesis. The controls are completely screwed up to where you press the button to run, and Mega Man will twitch for half a second before moving anywhere. The glitches and tricks you could have used on bosses, such as pausing Elec Man's weapon while over the Yellow Devil, and spamming the pause button for multiple hits, are gone. Everything in your favor is removed, and glitches added in their place.

On the bright side, the graphics got upgraded and the music was all remixed. If you can stand the added pain (considering you still have save states at your disposal), it looks and sounds rather nice.

See, I must be the odd one out or something since I didn't find the original Megaman that hard. It's challenging, don't get me wrong, but I was able to clear it on the actual console in about 2-3 hours. (And no, I didn't use that pause trick either.) :S I never really found it unfair, personally.

Also, I'm trying to go through the X operations in Under the Knife 2. Why? Who knows. icon_xd.gif When I'm not doing that, I'm playing Absence of Detention more. I finally unlocked the Nekomata, which is a very nice monster class - high HP, high counters and they can counter special attacks. Definitely a keeper in my party. icon_smile.gif

EDIT: Why do I keep calling UtK 2 Second Opinion 2? >_<

I never really figured out how to do the Elec pause trick until after I beat the game, so...yeah. If anything, what's more frustrating is the fight against the Megaman clone. Ugh. Too many deaths.

Went back to playing Gravity Rush on the PSVita. Now I'm tempted to get Disgaea 3: Absence of Detention. It's all your fault SpacemanDan! icon_lol.gif

I need to finish my Grandia 3. I had to buy a replacement disc 2 from amazon after my GameStop copy stopped working. I'm on the final dungeon. All I can say about this game is that it applied every single JRPG cliche that have ever existed out there.

Ocarina of Time 3D, as usual. I really want Xenoblade however. Is it worth it? I heard it was amazing.

Oh god yes its worth it if you like role playing games. its one of the best rpg's on the wii so far. I can't say much about "The Last story".
But Xenoblade is one of the best games I've played in awhile. the story is fantastic the game play is wonderful. The world is huge and has plenty to do.
I would say you should buy it and give it a try. I bet you'll like it a lot icon_biggrin.gif.
