And since when has Link ever appeared like the stereotypical "pinnacle of masculinity"?  Like seriously he's one of the most androgynous heroes and so freaking bishie

Also it could potentially be like, the child of a Link we've played as, that would be pretty cool

There's so much going in Hyrule Field, there's a canyon, Death Mountain and another mountain, a forest, a village and a cave... and a blurry Hyrule Castle off in the distance. If that is Hyrule Castle, considering it is near Death Mountain too making it more than likely, it has to be after Skyward Sword.

Also remember we should take Anouma's words with a grain of salt considering he is misunderstood easily. For example, he apparently said he wanted to copy elements off of Skyrim when really he meant he wanted to convey similar emotions in exploration like in Skyrim. He also apparently said Zelda U would focus on top down view, when really he meant future future Zelda titles. Maybe it is Link and really, he just meant it isn't the Link we have known the past several titles! This Link is wearing a blue tunic and he looks more of an archer, perhaps he meant this is a new take on Link?

The realization that this is the Gamecube era all over again: Console gets a realistic Zelda tech demo before launch, then the first new Zelda game is a colorful cel-shaded adventure instead. And on both accounts the actual Zelda looks miles better than the tech demo.

The game is going to get hated, and then get considered the greatest Zelda a few years later.

I'd like to think the fanbase has matured since Wind Waker but it seems that unfortunately that pattern will probably just continue. :worried:

... on the bright side, at least Skyward Sword will finally get the love it deserves. :tard:

Lemme know if Skyward Sword is getting praise. And also let me know when it's time to beat the dead horse for a Twilight Princess remake.

I'd kind of dig a Twilight Princess remake, ya know, assuming Nintendo went all-out for it. Actually smooth out edges, remove blurs, give everything a makeover, tune parts that fans didn't like before, and include multiple control options: Regular control scheme for the Gamecube fans, full-on Wii Motion Plus for the Wii fans and also giving them something better than the garbage controls that were obsolete as soon as Skyward Sword was released. And preferably Gamecube geography but there could also be an option for flipping the world geography or something, that would be neat. Also it would satisfy a desire to see a more realistic-like Zelda game, though I definitely dig this new Zelda style and think it's the most gorgeous we've seen so far.

Back on this topic, to fuel the speculation even though I don't think it means anything: Protagonist's eyes are blue. Link's eyes aren't always blue, but Zelda's always are. Again it probably means nothing but I like poking things. :heh:

Don't get me wrong, I would love to see a Twilight Princess remake. The graphics have aged pretty badly and could use a remake. While Nintendo confirmed remakes aren't their priority until a new piece of technology comes into play, they did shout out they have a desire to make a Twilight Princess or Skyward Sword HD, but another company may remake either.

But Zelda U > Wind Waker > Skyward Sword > Twilight Princess in terms of visuals IMO.

I really like the art direction Zelda games are taking recently. Overly satisfied with Nintendo's move against photorealism. Twilight Princess was a step in the wrong direction visually and I am glad they've gotten over it.

Mmm.  To be fair, this time it's a lot more subjective.  The Wii U tech demo did look really good.  I do think this title is prettier because of the cel-shaded look, though.  However, the Zelda Space World video just looked bad.  I mean... just look at how shiny and lifeless it was:

That was bad for the GCN era, so it just really wasn't a good tech demo at all. :(

Uh... I'm pretty sure Link's eyes are always blue whenever it's in an art style where they color in the eyes. :P You're really just starting to grasp for straws.

I think the comment about Link not being Link holds VERY much spoilers in context. Think about it for a minute:

When is Link ever even named in game? The characters call you by the name you select. This pretty much can only mean one thing. If they hadn't said anything we would just assume that this was a different style of Link. The only way it would be clear this was not Link is if Link made an appearance in the quest outside of being playable. Things this could mean:

1) We play as the villain?

2) There is some sort of multiplayer or something  were you can play as Link and this guy.

3) This new player is customizable and can interact with other real players somehow.

4) This character wants something different than Link would want.

5) This person is the hero of man in Minish Cap.

Game looks great, but all this speculation that is clearly way off is just making this topic look silly. Come on guys, there's not a whole lot to talk about yet, we know almost nothing. Link, Zelda or Octorok, right now that doesn't matter. What matters is what kind of gameplay we can truly expect from this.

I think the open world aspect is a great idea, I've been saying that for years. It worries me a little bit though, that right after talking about how seamless the transitions between the different kind of areas would be, Link rides into some trees and we get a transition that's anything but seamless, before we're suddenly transported inside a forest. Yes, I get that this is a trailer, but it did nothing to convey the game they're making.

This was a shitty trailer. I'm expecting the game to be a lot better though, and despite it shittyness, the trailer gave me a lot of hope. I've said it before, and I mean it; if this game turns out to be brilliant, I will get a Wii U for it. It's the only game that has the chance to be my killer app.

This is what I'm thinking. It's Link, but it's also not Link. There's multiplayer involved, I bet.

I liked the trailer, but whatever.

Also, I don't see what's wrong with fan theories and the discussion. There's nothing wrong with speculation, so long as the speculation doesn't become so ingrained in your expectations that you get upset at the game for not giving in to all the fan theories (Indoctrination Theory says hello). You're right, we're a year out. So why not talk about it? That's called excitement, which is exactly what developers want when you see trailers.

I didn't tell you not to talk about it, but I think discussing the lack of Link-tits is going into territories that doesn't really... no, you know what I mean, right? :P
