On a random note, I wonder if they'd ever consider raising the four-move limit on Pokemon. I mean, at this point, you can't trade Pokemon back, so I don't see why they wouldn't consider lifting that archaic restriction. I don't want to hear any bullshit about such a thing "removing challenge" or anything like that, when it honestly doesn't make much sense for Pokemon to only know four moves. I'm not saying they should have an infinite learning capacity, but four moves is very restrictive. Plus, it would help eliminate HM slaves, since having more move slots wouldn't mean sacrificing a slot that could be used for much better moves.

Not going to happen at this point.  Because legacy reasons.  Any and all the potential this series had to have a deeper battle system and better stories has been put into the Dragon Quest Monsters series, so go check that out, lol.

Maybe someday they could rework the system and not allow pokemons from older generations be transferred. As for HM slaves, I hope they'll change the way HMs work in this game. xd

That would change the meta of the competitive scene so much.  If you had six moves, for example, there would be Pokemon that have move coverage that handle every Pokemon type.  The meta would become insanely aggressive.  Honestly, a better way to handle HM's would be to make them key items, similar to how they were going to do it in Gen 1, but never implemented it.  To make up for water pokemon having a smaller move pool (getting rid of Surf, Waterfall, etc), they could make them be either "Heart Scaled", or Egg Moves, or even have them level up to obtain.

With HM moves as Key Items, it would get rid of the concept of needing HM slaves, and would make the game more enjoyable (at least to me).

I agree.  They should've been tools from the beginning, rather than taking up valuable move slots.  The only useful ones are Fly, Waterfall and Surf anyway.

I don't really understand why upping the move limit wouldn't be compatible with past gen Pokemon. They could just be downloaded off the bank and have blank move slots where they can learn more moves.

Also let's be fair, competitive Pokemon meta's already garbage from what I understand.

I'm nuzlocking Sun and Moon blind, this needs to be done tbh. Maybe if I get a 3DS capture card I can stream/record it.

Supposedly GF was considering adding the ability to increase your party size in Ruby and Sapphire, although it was cut from the final game.  Doing this would also allow for HM slave without them really feeling like they're cutting into your party.

On a different note, many people are speculating (as they do with every generation) that we will finally be able to visit another region again.  This time, however, I think this idea might hold some water, at least to Kalos.  I say this because of the fact that Ash-Greninja and the new Zygarde formes (which are decidedly Kalos things) have been in the anime, but not the games yet.  The description for Zygarde-Complete even mentions it only transforming when specifically the Kalos region is in danger, so finding it in its complete forme in Alola wouldn't make a whole lot of sense.  Combine this with the fact that Hawaii really isn't that big (especially considering the size of the island in the trailer for scale), and I'd say it's plausible this time around.

I'm okay with party size staying at six, even if it seems a little silly, but it makes sense in-universe as a league rule. Plus, maintaining a larger party has the potential to be really grindy, as well as make it harder for you to lose if you maintain it well enough.

Now, enemy trainers that don't follow the six Pokemon limit...

One thing I'd like to see regarding HM moves is to just have a 5th slot that isn't used for a battle move, just for an HM move. That way, no need for an HM slave. It really annoys me that I can't just use the 6 Pokémon I want to use, but that I have to take one out for the generic Pokémon of the Gen that learns cut, strength, rock smash, etc.

If you look closely in the trailer the Hoshido symbol appears on the Sun legendary's head and the Nohr symbol appears on the Moon legendary's head when they do their respective signature moves. Pokemon Birthright and Conquest Versions confirmed.

I'll probably wait for Pokemon Revelation to be released before getting it.

Isn't Pokemon Conquest already a game?

Related to the HMs and moveslots: I don't feel like either one will change. Although, I would personally love to see HM moves either become a 5th move as Scootaloo suggested or become items as others have suggested. I feel like some HM moves have the merit to keep existing (simply due to being competitively viable). But, overall, I change to HMs would probably be welcomed by fans.

Easy idea for a compromise. Add in a "Laptop" item to the game. I mean, if your Pokemon are stored on PC, then carrying a laptop with you to call in the one with the necessary HM move on a whim would make sense. Just claim that the Laptop doesn't have the processing power to access all of your Boxes at once like the full computers at the Pokemon Centers can. You only have enough juice to access a "Portable Box" that holds maybe one or two extras. If you really want to be able to swap in an extra Pokemon in and out of your party, that's fine. The real reason to have them is so that you have the extra slot to put your HM Slaves, and you can access their HM abilities without doing a full swap.

It could be like Telefang.  You use your cellphone to call new monsters.  You're a genius, kurt.
