I said public smoking, which is what DarkIceDragon's post was all about.
Well, you said that I could not compare it to coffee, which along with the fact that you quoted me, implies that it was a direct response to something I said. And if it was, then like I said, while I agree that second hand smoking is a serious issue, it is completely irrelevant to the point I was making.
So yeah, I can compare coffee to cigarettes, it just depends on the context. Thankfully for me, I was talking about it in the context of addiction and public perception/acceptance of what is essentially a very self-destructive act. It is true that cigarette smoke can affect non-smokers as well, again through second hand smoking, but don't mix that up with 'public' smoking. Public smoking does not mean that there has to be second hand smoking involved, like I was saying earlier, second hand smoking isn't really an issue outside, because in order for any bystanders to inhale any smoke they literally have to be almost kissing the smoker.
Of course this doesn't count if you're in a resturant or something along those lines, but to be fair the scenario proposed here was that of someone who lights up a cigarette as they step off the train. Train stations are usually not inside, and when they are, the interiors are huge and there's lots of ventilation going on because there's multiple giant holes in the walls that the trains pass through. So yeah, second hand smoking isn't really something to cry about in such a situation.
TL;DR: if you weren't responding to me, why did you write it as a response to me? ![]()
