We also have plans for a version of the tileset that works with more detailed "textures". Remember this SotW screen? These mountains will come in a bonus package release that supports diagonals, big trees, probably textured grass, dirt and water as well. It would be a very different look, more of the likes of the DoR tileset (not the contemporary DoR/MC blend but the original SD3 esque DoR2.0). I think this could be very interesting.

I like the sound of this :3

So this means it will be like a new redefined DoR? :D

Why do you guys plan to make "bonus packages" when you could have all the graphics you got into one qst file? :)

The idea is that we want to deliver a customizeable experience. The basic set will have everything you need to make a quest, but if you want to expand on that you have the option to do just that. One of the benefits to this is that you won't have to scroll through pages of mountain tiles you'll never end up using. The drawback is that you have to rip them in yourself, but that's pretty simple so I'm sure you guys will handle it. :P

Hmmmm, well it has it's pros and cons, but not a big deal. Nonetheless, will the expansion pack be more like DoR?

That depends what "like DoR" means for you. The palettes, for example, won't change. It will stay as liminted as is, which means that tMC graphics for example can't be ripped into the original palettes. Stylistically, it will be more like DoR 2.0 in the sense that it will feature textured surfaces rather than the clean look you see on most tiles in the current incarnation of FireBird. Does that address your question?

Been a while since I've seen an update about this. Is this project still underway? And is it near completion? I've been incredibly excited for this since I first saw it, and I'd love to use it.

It is. FTL and work have taken up most of my free time lately, but as far as I know, enemies are the only thing left to be done, and they're about, maybe 40% complete. I need to do some testing on the ones I've made so far (forgot you can't change their animation speeds, which screws up like, all the ones I've made thus far) to figure out if they need to be changed (they do). But, as far as I know, that's the only thing holding back at least some form of release.

Of course I could totally be off my rocket on that, and the rest have some grand scheme that I don't know about.

You can change their animation frames in the enemy editor if you are making it in 2.5. Change the F. Rate variable to whatever you want. This doesn't apply to some boss enemies but still.

Sorry for poking quite so much, but what's the status of this project? I'm really looking forward to this.

It's still coming along. Every so often I see updates from the Dropbox, and I'm playing with enemies when free time allows. Latest projects are full-on spinning Leevers, and Octoroks now recoil from their shots. It's also kinda hard to figure out how to do certain enemies to spruce them up from their Gameboy counterparts, keeping the style and feel of them, while adding something fresh to make them more interesting (for instance, Zoras are as near the exact same sprite as they are in Link's Awakening, but fully colored like they appear in Link to the Past), which sounds easy, but with something like Gibdos, it's a little tricky.

I'm really glad you're all so dedicated in taking your time as much as possible to make quality content instead of releasing this sooner and being over and done with without a care. Take all the time you need to make this, the end result should be very well worth the wait.

This is beautiful. Between this, and Koten, I'll never finish a ZC quest :P
