I don't get why Asami didn't use her electric glove on the stream of water when Tarrlok grabbed her.

Tarrlok is the polar opposite of Amon. What would be his motive in being associated with the Equalists? His goal is very clearly oppressive and manipulative. Unless he's a big fan of chaos, I don't think Tarrlok is involved with the Equalists...

Actually, Amon and Tarrlok CAN'T be the same person. Didn't Amon make a threat during one of the council meetings in which Tarrlok was present?

He's really just pouring lemon juice on the whole situation. Not only is he doing exactly what Amon wants him to do, but he just jailed the heroes.

I don't remember the last time I've seen fiction where there are two antagonist factions- two which are polar opposites BTW. Tarrlok is tyrannical while the Equalists are anarchist.

Probably because she knew that if she broke out that the metalbenders would just trap her anyway. Or maybe because she didn't want to give him legit reason to be marked a criminal.

I also wanna say you're right about Amon making an announcement while Tarrlok was on-screen, but now I can't remember...

Rewatching the entire Avatar series again. 3 Episodes an hour, sort of, and I'll be damned if this isn't completely and thoroughly addicting.

I KNEW TARRLOK AND AMON WEREN'T THE SAME PERSON!

Also damn friggin' preview of the finale, teasing us with Korra in Amon's grasp. And we have to wait two friggin' weeks for it?! This is gonna take forever.

Anyways, I missed a few bits of it because my brother showed up in the middle of the episode after claiming he'd have been there ten minutes before it started, but eh, I didn't miss anything too terribly important, and I'll just watch it again on Nick.com on Monday when it's up. Things really got good, that was an interesting backstory and it was good to see the original crew again. Toph obviously hadn't changed at all, Sokka was similar to his old self, and Aang, Aang aged well. Although you'd think he'd have been able to break the Bloodbending, since he should be a superior waterbender by then and Katara was able to break Hama's bloodbending while just being a normal girl. But eh, it was still badass how he just trapped him in rock and removed his bending.

Although that leads to new theories about Amon's identity, but Tarrlok's dad seems kind of farfetched. Still, they could have some connection perhaps? I dunno. And Tarrlok wasn't just a misguided Councilman, he was a true villain. And Amon could resist bloodbending... Damn it who is he?! ლ(ಠ益ಠლ

Oh yeah, who else felt like tearing up a little when the remix of Aang's theme played?

As soon as as I got a good luck at Yakone, I realized there was a connection. Although I was thinking he was Tarrlok, which got me confused until Korra said he was Tarrlok's father.

As far as the older characters, Aang seemed a bit off to me. I mean yes, being serious was a good thing, but he should have still had a bit of his silly self. Objecting to Toph's nickname seemed a bit much. But other than that, the characters all aged well. And yay Combustion Man reference.

Given that Aang's energybending lacked the red/blue effect it had during the Ozai fight though, I'm convinced that Amon is an energybender now. Which leads to so many questions. If he's a bender, why does he want to remove everybody's bending? Power? Some other reason?

The fact that he was able to resist bloodbending is also intriguing. Does this mean he's a waterbender? Or is he just that strong?

Finally, the episode did disappoint me a little bit. Whatever happened to Mako and Asami? They're supped to be together! D:

Well hey, Aang did have pretty heavy responsibilities around Republic City being its guardian and all, and Yakone's case seemed pretty dire. I give him an excuse.

OMG! Tarrlok just lost his bending! Looks like the two antagonist factions are about to combine.

I thought it was really clever when Korra hung from the metal box by her armband- using it as insulation.

Except the box was a Faraday Cage. It doesn't matter that she hung there; it wouldn't have shocked her if she'd remained on the floor. That's how Faraday Cages work; they protect you from outside electricity. So clever, but didn't actually accomplish anything.

So Tarlok is off the list of possible Amon identities. Not that I ever thought Tarlok was Amon. But I want to point something out, I think you'd have to be incredibly strong to blood-bend several people at once. It was a little un-believable that Tarlok and his father were able to do this. They must be very powerful entities. But the fact that Amon could resist Tarloks Blood-bending was really scary, and also really bad-ass. He must be incredibly powerful. My thoughts on Amon is that he is a bender from one of the nations and is completely capable of bending, but something bad happened in his past that made him despise bending so he doesn't use it anymore. This might sorta explain how he can energy bend, but still, only the Avatar can do that... I'm a little stumped Guess we just got to wait.

Not necessarily. The Lion Turtle just said that whoever does the energybending needs an unbendable will. I think we can all agree that Amon a pretty strong will. Which would explain why he's able to energybend. Assuming he's a bender, that is.

... here's a thought. If energybending can take a person's bending away, can it restore it too? Or even give a non-bender the ability? The Lion Turtle used it to give Aang the knowledge/ability of how to energybend, so couldn't it be used to give anybody the ability to do other types of bending? Just a thought...

Very good thought. I didn't think about it that way. It also confuses me oh so very much

I do believe that something had happen to Amon in the past. Weather he is a bender or not, maybe the Fire Nation killing off ancestors? A lot of possibilities to why he hates bending.

They're such cruel teases, now I want to see the finale even more and I might be in Georgia. ._.

Yay for Zuko's voice actor playing a man named after the greatest character in the series. I'm assuming the new General Iroh is Zuko's son or grandson or some other relationship; who else would name their child after Iroh? Either way, Fire Nation is back, baby, and they've brought their fleet. This... this is gonna be tight.

Also, I knew Tenzin's fourth child would be a boy, but was I the only one half-expecting him to name it Aang? Ah well, a location in Lord of the Rings is good too.

And when the airbending kids showed up to kick ass, that was tight. Except the airbender farts are getting annoying, but then again fart humor in general tends to irritate me. Oh well, at least Meelo mostly made up for it later. "Not now, baby!" for example.

And poor Lin... With her bending gone, the heroes are gonna have to be more careful. I was hoping she'd take down the airships and succeed, probably because The Last Airbender made me pretty much expect the beating of odds like that; for reference, Sokka, Toph, and Suki taking down Ozai's air fleet. But I suppose it makes more sense for her to fail; paint the war in a darker light, make it seem more dire.

Also I'm going to bring up something I've talked to Russ about: How Aang's bending removal seems to leave the victim simply tired and worn out, whereas Amon's leaves them apparently traumatized. Russ's argument was that Ozai and Yakone had done some pretty heavy stuff before Aang took their bending; an epic battle with Aang and bloodbending an entire courtroom, respectively, and this made rendered them unable to react as strongly as Amon's victims, who hadn't really done anything strenuous before being equalized, yet they pass out with trauma. And yet, Lin, who had just launched herself at an airship, took it out, then attempted to do the same to another; metalbending is difficult stuff, so she'd be tired out too, and yet... traumatized when Amon removes her bending. I should have figured that the defense of Ozai and Yakone was a weak argument, because Ozai clearly wasn't that tired if he immediately attempted a swing at Aang only for him to produce no fire, but the Lin thing furthered my doubts. Basically, Amon's bending removal is either different or more forceful than Aang's method, in my theory. Suppose we'll see soon.

As far as energybending being able to restore bending as well as take it: Interesting theory, but I'm somewhat skeptical. With that method you'd think anyone could become an "Avatar" if all the disciplines were instilled in him with energybending. Although I suppose that's why energybending is incredibly rare... I dunno. Maybe we'll learn more in the finale, or season two. Damn it hurry up! D:

I didn't think it was possible, but Lin is officially more badass than Toph now. That was incredble... I was honestly expecting her to take them both down, then die in the crash, but this works too. But poor Lin... now we can't make Spiderman jokes about her anymore.

General Iroh. I shouldn't not have reacted like that, but I did. He's gotta be either Zuko's son or grandson (I'm guessing grandson), and the fact that he even has Zuko's voice actor just makes it even better. Next Saturday can't come quickly enough.

Jinora continues to amuse me. "Get away from my dad's ex-girlfriend!" I'm fairly certain she's the only person on earth who would say something like that. But her and Ikki and Meelo was just amazing in that scene. And Meelo's lines after were almost as good. "It's about time!"

I'm really worrying about Asami now. She has it so rough, and she certainly isn't taking Mako's behavior well. Not that I can blame her though, he is being kind of insensitive about it. Still, I'm getting afraid that she's going to end up defecting back to her father, and I really don't want that to happen. D:

Finally, about the energybending theory: No, it wouldn't work like that. I'm assuming bending is part-genetic, part-spiritual. Energybending would just restore part of the spiritual element; a person still wouldn't be able to obtain a bending art that he doesn't have the genes for.
