You have to get the second sword in order to enter Level 5. It's in the same place as Level 3 was.

Excellent news. You are NOT screwed. The save file is compatible. Just bring your save file over from the RC2 folder to the B18 folder (and the quest file, obviously) and you are in business. No swimming bug. Awesome!

After going thru a dizzying travel thru Past/Present, got boomerang and armor upgrade. Completed level 7, surprisingly with ease, but now cannot find level 8.

You need a superbomb...remember the ladder that couldn't quite stretch down enough?? Then you'll use your newly acquired item at a spot you can't miss

Where might that be? Is that where the silver arrow is? Am not getting too far with level 8

On the other side of where Link is facing is a door, however I cannot open by bomb or otherwise.
Also, is this the only way out of the secret area in secret dungeon 3??

That is the only other way out of the underwater, yes. But that will only take you to the boss door. Remember, on the entrance screen, there was a door to the right? Take that door.

Totally agree! Was also impressed with Secret Level 2 and in fact the rest of the quest. Got the hammer, but will save the final level at a later time.
