What if I want to actually have character development rather than be a lifeless character who's always being told what to do by others?

I always kind of thought the main character was supposed to be, well, the player. Like you're the one doing all this. That sort of thing. And there's always been a bunch of other things you could do on the side, but I do see what you mean. icon_wink.gif

That's the intention I'm sure, but throughout the games YOU yourself are not given any opportunity to really make any decisions for yourself (besides the team your raise obviously). There is no deduction, no clever ruse, no mysteries to solve. Every time you enter a village a talking head pops out of the corner and instructs you what to do: Even when you're saving the ****in world there is someone right next to you explaining to you exactly what you should be doing and what you are experiencing.

I guess I just wish they pulled back from that for a little bit and let the players actually absorb the nature of a situation for themselves, instead of just being told. The entire warped dimension (or whatever it was called in Platinum) was completely ruined for me because they made a puzzle-like situation (with the boulders) but than eliminated any trace of puzzle out of it by specifically instructing you where to push the boulders.

At the very least they could design a extra area that has some sort of a puzzle in it... the puzzle guy from Ruby and Sapphire actually remains to be one of my favorite parts of a pokemon game, though still not enough so to redeem those two titles.

I had a dream that these were the last Pokemon games. :O Sign? Probably not. lol

Honestly though, I think they need to take the Pokemon thing a bit more slowly, with more escort titles (Like Colosseum and XD). I enjoy having a new region to explore, but I swear...if they break 600 with these games, I'ma be pretty annoyed. They should have like, a small portion discovered at a time rather than, "HOLYSKITTIEZ! THEREZ 105 MOAR POKERMANZ WE JUST DISCOVERED TWO SECUNDS AGO."

...

Yeah.

Though I am hoping for a bit more story in this game. Platinum was close, but not cigar. As previously stated, way too much of the "Do This, Do That" factor...as usual.

I personally take no problems with extra pokemon. You don't need to catch them all! For this game, I'm not gonna look any more at it (or, at least, try not to look at it) so the whole experience will be new and, hopefully, fresh (they really need to scrap the whole Team Rocket idea). But even storyline aside, I really enjoyed just travelling around Kanto and Johto in the last pokemon games released. The music was awesome, and the whole world seemed new. It was fun finding new caves and exploring my way out of them, and it didn't really bother me using a Heracross (which I've never used before SS) or Bellossom (one of my faves since Crystal).

And, if you've seen the pics, the 5th gen will take the 3D aspect used in SS (and somewhat in Platinum) and run with it, with some normal places even being seen almost as if the camera was a few feet off the ground (looking towards the player). It also seems to be in a more... futuristic place with [possible spoilers] cars, large bridges, and soaring skyscrapers.[/spoilers]. And, according to Serebii.net, BW is supposed to bring about a "revolution of Pokemon." Now, I dunno if that statement was taken from CoroCoro directly or not, but, if you ask me, a true revolution hasn't taken place since generation 2 (with the addition of daycares, day/night cycles, running pokemon, shinies (that were actually shiny), IVs, two entirely new types, two regions, large cities, and pokemon animations), so... I'm getting kinda excited myself. I'm hoping for Golden Sun style battle animations (judging from the pics), and stuff like that. I'm also hoping for real-time action sequences where you might have to chase a pokemon or something.

I hope in Black and White they fixed the HM slave issue. They should really have an option for Pokemon to learn moves that are used only for outside of battle.

Amen to that! Maybe they could use key items instead. Who needs rock smash when you've got a hammer. No need to surf, just take swimming lessons. Want to dive? Use scuba gear! Machetes are perfect for small trees in your way. I'm really at a loss for what item would replace waterfall though. icon_razz.gif

Pickaxes and a wet suit. That is a good idea, I especially like the machete.

Hey, you know the shiny dogs/cats being given away in Japan. It's confirmed that they unlock something when traded to Black/White, which means that there will be trading between Gen IV and V. Since they're both on the DS, I'm guessing it will be like the Time Machine trades in Gen II, but we'll just have to wait and see.

Yeah, I seen that on Serebii. I didn't actually bother reading it, I'll do that right now. Also, I believe they're the Legendary beasts. But I also called them the Legendary Dogs since forever and a half.

EDIT:Forget it, can't be bothered.

I heard they are giving the 5th generation a MAJOR overhaul to the franchise. I think this will piss a lot of the fans out there and it will cause some controversy.

Controversy? Well, I guess maybe, but as for what I've seen, most (if not all) of the complaints are related to the "no originality" problem. I'm not a "fan" of change, but I do have faith in Game Freak, and whatever they decide to do, I know it will be fun. Nintendo has a way of having fun franchises!

So weren't they supposed to be giving out new information about Black and White every Sunday? Because I haven't really seen anything new since this topic started.

Check this out. It's gameplay footage shown on Pokemon Sunday. If the starter pokemon don't redeem this, there's no way I'm getting this. This is a joke.

What exactly is it shown there? Mind giving some details Rem? A youtube video maybe so we wouldn't need to download anything.

You don't need to download anything; it plays in the browser.

The 3D definitely looks pretty cool. I'm excited.
