Well with the DS, it's possible =). You've seen those 3D scenes in the trailer, I hope, so they could've if they really wanted to.

I think it'd be really awesome if they kept the battle style they have, but made the sprites 3-D and animated. That'd be amazing and awesome and...stoof. Though it won't be happening. At least not anytime soon. Nintendo said something about wanting to prevent rantings from fans who have been fans for the start. >_> I've been a fan from the start, and I think it would be wicked cool, as long as they did it right. But then, Nintendo in general hasn't been good at that lately. *sigh*

Silly Nintendo. It's not a bad thing to try something new, as long as they do it right :B

3-D sprites would be cool to see. And it'd also be nice if they fixed up some of the attack animations... I mean, whenever flamethrower is used, it either looks like the flames are coming out of the pokemon's head, its nose, or in Charizard's case, from its neck. Which is silly.

LOL, I almost died when you said it comes from the neck, but if they were to do one more series with a new region and Pokemon, they should switch to 3-D.

Charizard's a chronic smoker. It only makes sense it's from the neck. icon_razz.gif

It seems the way Nintendo tries something new with the Pokémon games is when they try it on a spin-off title. I dunno about you all, but I really liked the Mystery Dungeon series of theirs. I'm hoping for a third one (Explorers of the Sky is just another Platinum).

The third one's coming out on Wii Ware. It's already been released in Japan. The Mystery Dungeon games are okay, but the randomly generated levels get old after a while. They should have at least designed some of the dungeons.

Anyways, I agree, a portable game with a 3D battle system would be awesome. But it'll never happen.

and in Houndoom's case, i'm pretty sure it comes out of the eyes.

Well, that one's actually pretty neat. icon_razz.gif

My friend and I were messing around with Pokesav and giving Pokemon moves that they couldn't learn normally to see what would happen. Lucario makes almost anything look awesome. For instance, Hydro Cannon. It looks like he charges it up between his hands, then fires it out like some Aura Sphere on steroids.

Even if they stayed with sprites, they could at least do something to make the various attack types have specific origins from a Pokemon - as in, match up with the mouths or hands or wherever the attack comes from. Odd pokemon like Unown would be a bit of a problem though, but it might be worth the effort, rather than just going to full 3-d.
And speaking of messing around with moves, I'd like to see a Magikarp use Hyper Beam - or any superpowerful move - and still not have it defeat the other pokemon.

To go 3D they would either create a mesh of various sprites and have them work together to create the appearance of an object or use textures/models...

I thought that WiiWare one had practically no story. I wasn't impressed with it, felt different. I don't mind the randomly generated levels, but they needed more variety, it's true.

Pokémon Stadium...portable?

Well I dunno if they would attempt it, but if they do, it'd probably end up on the Wii.

Or, they can stick to 2D and have the pokemon move sometimes when attacking but stay in its place.

They should go 3D now. It's 2010. The old school stuff are already long gone so what would be the difference in if they do it or not?
Pokemon now is not the same pokemon i grew up with 15 years ago.

Oh my gosh! Check Serebii! There are so many legendaries. In addition to the standard ones from Gold/Silver, Palkia, Dialga, and Giratina appear through an in-game event (but you only get one), Kyogre (in Gold), Groudon (in Silver), and Rayquaza appear, the three birds and Mewtwo are where they are in FireRed/LeafGreen, but higher leveled, and Latios and Latis appear after you get the national dex. Since they're keeping all the Kanto legendaries, this means Deoxys will probably be available through an event.

In addition, there are three different sets of starts. You can chose between Cindoqual, Chikorita, and Totodile at the beginning. After beating the Elite Four, you can pick from Bulbasaur, Squirtle, and Charmander. And after getting the national dex, you can pick from Treeko, Mudkip, and Torchick.

This is all too good to be true! This is going to be the best Pokemon game ever!

Double post, but it's been after 12 hours.

Am I only the one here who's been keeping up with the updates? Since it was released in Japan, Serebii has been constantly updating the site with information. Dang, I want this game so badly right now. Everything about it looks amazing!
