"....I made the decision early on to make the quest in 1.90 because I wanted to prove that even with old software, games can still be made interesting and fun to play....don't judge the whole quest by the beginning. It was made three years ago and may not feature all the interesting tricks and such that are in the later parts of the quest....refrain from rating the quest....a 0 because you hated a certain, small part of it. That isn't fair. This quest is best played in 1.90. I strongly suggest you play it with that version unless your computer absolutely cannot run it. If that is the case, 1.92 is bearable. 2.10 is completely out of the question. You will encounter SEVERE bugs if you use 2.10...."
we have things in common.
I'm so glad somebody else is working in 1.90. I think mine was the only one updated in two years until this week. 1.90 rules! recognize; old-school perfection is coming for your fails!
edit: watched the movie. WOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOW. nominates you as "best with 1.90." I really liked the collecting the heart container while grappling by it. everything was good, but the side-scroller screens like the cave with fish and the big spider enemy where just PERFECT. you rule. awesome everything.

And I hope you're not disappointed by the fact that the last level is in 1.92. It was going to be 100% 1.90, and the only reason I changed it was because of the limitation on message strings. You can only have like 128 before you're unable to add any more (or edit any old ones - it crashes the whole string editor). And since level 9 alone required more than 128, we decided to just advance to a better version, and then I tried to use some of the new features in that one.
Anyway, I look forward to your feedback after playing it.

I don't palette edit much, either. a little bit. did I mention I'm glad to see another 1.90 quest? now if we could get people back into it so we see more that one per year....

Lesson from building this quest: games using old software can still be good, but don't try to make something more than it can handle. And if you lose something, don't find it. Because when you do find it, it will have rabies.

also: there's a continue bug in the intro. if you die leaving level nine of the first adventure (I figure), you get stuck in a wall. the dude who gives you more bombs says "helscome my bonshop," which I figure is supposed to say "welcome to my bombshop." I also noticed in level one, three screens up and three screens left of the lower right corner room there is a tile error in the lower right corner of the room.
loving it, but stuck.

- I know about the continue bug and plan to fix it in the update.
- Helscome my bonshop is intentional - I'd never let typos like that slip past me. It's a reference to Homestar Runner.

- Never noticed that tiling area - I just added it to my list of things to fix.
