I seriously hope that when you die in this game, it does a "Game Over, return of Ganon" type thing where it shows calamity Ganon ravaging Hyrule.

It should be as long as Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, so it gives you time to consider what actually happened.  Or long enough to go to the bathroom, get a drink, and come back.  /s

Reminds me of the moon crushing Termina at the end of the third day.

Complete with the laugh at the Zelda 2 game over screen?  I can dig it.

GameXplain released their analysis of the Game Awards trailer. Pretty enlightening and has some good ideas in it.

As mentioned in the Switch thread, we get to see Breath of the Wild running on Switch for the first time ever. Although I suddenly remembered a thought I had wanted to voice but never did: This whole "there are no boundaries" thing... it makes me wonder what the actual borders of the world are. Insurmountable ocean? Mountains too tall to climb? All I know is, I'm gonna go find out.

I hope it's invisible walls that lead to Morrowind.

Perhaps it loops around to the other side of the world? It'd be interesting if that is the case lol. I remember this happening in The Settlers II (sadly not implemented in the Anniversary Edition remaster).

Did anyone else watch the Tonight Show? Jimmy Fallon was the first person on TV to try the Nintendo Switch and Breath of the Wild. On a side note, he met the creator of Zelda, Mario, and Donkey Kong and played Super Mario Run for mobile devices.

Unless the Youtube video wasn't the whole thing, yes I did and it was a pretty crappy demonstration of the console AND game (I guess they literally only wanted to show off the ability to switch (on-the-fly) between TV gaming and mobile gaming?)

You mean that video I linked to in the Switch thread and then linked to from my post above? :blah:

Have to agree, though, it was a bit of a lackluster demonstration overall. It was nice to see the game running smoothly on both the big screen and the portable screen, but it was only a couple of minutes. Ah well.

Will be so interesting to see what direction the series goes after this.

I feel like what Nintendo should do is make a few more games that emphasize this much freedom and open world to it... after that, Zelda fans will likely be nostalgic for the formula that the 3D games have mainly used.  That's kind of what I feel like happened here- Breath of the Wild appeals to those of us who miss a lot of the aspects of the original Zelda (and I'd say ALttP to some extent, though we did get ALBW).  After a while, I think we'll have an itch for it and we'll be wondering what they could do with another Ocarina of Time style game in, say, 15 years.

I wonder if Nintendo has internally considered, or started making an original OoT/ TP style game for the 3DS. I would be surprised if they haven't at least thought about it. It would be neat to see what they can do with that formula again in the future if they go that way, for sure. This game is going to be huge, and different, but I hardly think it is the complete end of 'old' Zelda, at least I hope not lol.

After seeing how gorgeous the OoT and MM remakes were (and how nicely their engines were reconstructed), I'm really surprised they didn't make a third game taking place after MM for the 3DS (I refuse to think that right after MM, Link just becomes the Hero's Shade).  It could've been so beautiful... ... and the 3DS desperately could've used a unique single-player Zelda.  ALBW was the closest and it's still half-remake. :(
