Hmmmm.... I suspect I know the answer to this.  I'll get it corrected today; thanks for letting me know!

(If you're really interested: I stopped weapons from hurting enemies whose Y coordinates were below 0.  This was necessary to stop some cheesy effects with later bosses.  Apparently, there are some early enemies who lurk around the Y=0 axis, so they were unintentionally excluded from collision detection as well.  I can change this by adjusting how negative the Y coordinate has to be before the enemy is immune to fire.)

Okay, I think that problem is fixed.

I also updated the download tab on the project -- correctly this time, I think.

Downloaded newest version this a.m. into a new folder (not the Demo one), but when I tried to start with the "RUN ME" exe file,

the program crashed.

Any thoughts?

I have no idea.  Can you describe in more detail what it did?  If it's Zelda Classic crashing when you start it up, then it's a problem between the ZC engine and your computer.  If it's a crash after you load up Zodiac, maybe it's something to do with my code.

It works perfectly now! Thanks!

Great!  Sorry about the delay.  I really appreciate you pointing out to me that the link was down earlier..

I don't understand the use of the term "Demo."  Are you saying that if you download the Drop Box ZIP file, unzip it, and run, it crashes - but if you download the .qst file alone and plug it into another version of Zelda Classic, it works?

Just letting you know that 2.52 has the Zodiac screen scrolling option and directory fixes.

Also, can't wait for the finished release. Are you just about done with everything at this point?

Sorry to be unclear,..  In August, I downloaded the August 1st demo version (and finished it with a little cheatmode help).

It worked without any issues.

It's an unbelievable transformation of the LoZ platform. This may surpass Dreams of Yesterday, my favorite quest.

Where do you find the time to create this gargantuan quest?

What about the weird sideview gravity collision detection bug? :)

Yeah, but I want to review MeleeWizard's playthrough again to catch any remain ing bugs or balance issues, finish the strategy guide, and update the manual.

At the same time, I'm messing around in C++ and... something else.

They're right -- something is wrong with how you have set up the !!! RUN ME !!! exe to launch and it does not work. replacing the stock zelda-w.exe with it and using the launcher works (i didn't notice the problem because i did that to start with since i hate messing with ini files etc)

I feel like the enemies in Aries do far too much damage. Even with the shield upgrade those invincible laser enemies can kill you in just a few hits! The corridor there is also almost impossible.

The moving platformers in Cancer are fairly broken. Simply standing still on them results in falling off if you stand there long enough, and since they reset if you move between rooms this makes ascending the moving platform area a massive pain when it should actually be fairly easy. If you bump against the ceiling before landing on them you ofen just fall right through them and thus have to do it all again. I'm specifically hinking of the jump in 4F which is damn near impossible.

The wizzrobes? They're susceptible to your pulse hammer and explosives. Plus they tend to enjoy falling off the bottom of the screen, and their shots don't hurt you on the room border, so I'm usually a cheap asshole and just wait at the edge safely while they go away in bottomless rooms.

And the corridor's entirely optional for the time being - you can come back to it later, when you have more upgrades.

...are you talking about Scorpio? I don't remember any moving platforms in Cancer. The far right end of Scorpio can be a pain to ascend, but if you stop trying to move platform to platform the way they're seemingly laid out for you, but look at the room layouts and consider your movement set/abilities, they all have pretty trivial and easy solutions. Pretty much all the rooms with moving platforms are like that.
