Really? I've seen 317 and caught 142 without it. icon_deformed.gif

Eh, I've been listening to the swarm alerts and going after a lot of foreign Pokémon, but I really could be doing better if I really tried. icon_heh.gif

I've been listening to the swarm reports, but most of them are in a route I haven't explored yet, and I'm too lazy to go way out of my way to find them. I'm tackling Kanto in the order I want, not the order the swarms decide to appear in. icon_razz.gif

Oh yeah, my sis finally bred her Feraligatr—and on a side note, she just beat the eighth Johto gym—and sent me the egg. I also got a Spinarak, Phanpy, and Gligar from her in exchange for a Teddiursa, Charmander, and Jigglypuff, and helping her evolve her Onix. Good deal, right? icon_deformed.gif

Due to a local trade, I've finally hit 340 Seen, 203 Caught icon_smile.gif! Thanks Dawn (Pokemon Sapphire), and her friend (Pokemon Pearl)! Although none of this does any justice due to me starting over sooner or later (not much left to do...).

Why start over? I'm the kind of guy who takes pride in a game slot with a lot of progress in it. Could just be nerdism, but whatever. icon_nerd.gif

If you wanna start over so badly, why not save up and buy the other version? Seriously. Not only could you play through the game again, you could also fill your Pokédex even more by sending in some of the version-exclusives in the other copy.

Because then you just wasted money on that game...what is with people and how stingy they are with starting over?

I have the same mentality. Although, instead of going out and buying the other versions of the game, I restart FireRed or Sapphire to fulfill my Pokemon needs, and then once I complete it again, I import my party onto whatever Pokemon DS game I'm playing.

It may not be considered a waste to someone who chooses to go ahead and do that.

I don't like to start over because I come attached to the Pokemon that I have. I know that they're not real, but I don't want to delete them forever. As I said above, if I restart FireRed or something, I always import my party Pokemon first so that I still have them. I also can't bring myself to delete a game with over 300 hours on it, because that's a large chunk of my time that I won't be able to get back... so this game is there to remind me of that >_>

Well Tody now has his Shiny Leaf crown....we're so close icon_smile.gif. I don't mind starting over though, because the replay value is just as awesome.

Whenever I start over, I transfer all the Pokemon that I'm attached to. That's worked it's way up to 2 1/2 boxes. icon_deformed.gif But, yeah. At this point, I usually just restart FireRed or Emerald as well.

I don't know if it's only him, but one of the people who works on translating the pokemon games is a member of SomethingAwful, the nexus of the internet essentially. As a result, there's a bunch of little gems hidden inside the lines of various trainers that we probably miss (for example, in Ruby/Sapphire there's a trainer named Roxy who has a wooper, which is a reference to the BEST pokemon LP ever. Google RedChocobo Crystal for the hilarity).

I think one trainer shouts out "My Pokemon is fight!" too.

I just caught Raikou in a ridiculous way. ¤6 Quick Balls > FAIL, ¤10 Ultra Balls > FAIL, then I encountered it once more, threw a ¤Great Ball, and caught it.

You got to love that irony. I remember when in Platinum, I randomly ran into Zapdos for the first time, threw a quick ball, and caught him. I was so excited. No such luck this time around though. icon_frown.gif

Whatever you do, put them to sleep. Makes it easier to catch the roamers, apparently. Though strangely, I think when you face Raikou and Entei, you get to attack first no matter what... It would explain why a level 10 Pichu (around there) got to use ThunderShock before they left...

Strangely enough, though, Latios would run first if a low-level Pokémon went against it...
