Most people who'll say they have insider sources are frauds or pranksters, of course. SuperMetaldave64 spent months claiming that NX was a dedicated x86 home console, and insisted, with great condescension, that Emily Rogers and Eurogamer were wrong about it being a hybrid. (Incidentally, he streamed his reaction to the Switch trailer live. Watching his whole nonsense world crumbling down around him was glorious.) But if you follow this stuff, it's not hard to tell the credible from the nonsense.

My cousin works at Nintendo, and told me the delay is to replace Link with Tingle, and redirect the game to a game where you draw a map of the entire world.

well now you're just making me sad that this isn't true

It wasn't just her who guessed that though, tons of people did.  So much so, I wonder if Nintendo took inspiration from the rumors, it's entirely possible that it wasn't the original plan, but after hearing the chatter, they decided it sounded like a good idea.

There's also the fact that games get so commonly delayed that even IF this rumor is true, it's not really predicting much.  It's not like she's predicting an exact release date, the exact amount of delay, the specific reasons for the delay, or when the delay will be announced.  Yeah. it might easily be delayed, but so what?  Games get delayed all the time, and predicting that a game that has already seen many delays might just see yet another, is low hanging fruit at best.

Time to overanalyze this later, but it was awesome.

2:26 for gameplay. They show a little bit of new stuff, not a whole lot, but still worth a look. The video rendering is kind of shoddy though, the gameplay presentation looks kind of awful. Nintendo might put the video up on their own page later, maybe it'll look better then.

I hope they remove that green filter for the forest.  It's really distracting, and hard to see in some spots.  I posted this comment on another video, but it really does feel like someone put a green polyurethane sheet on a tv screen.

So a minor detail people may have missed. Link is indeed carrying the Master Sword at the end of this trailer.

Some of those scenes definitely seem like flashbacks, before Link wakes up in the Shrine of Resurrection.  It just seems really odd for them to emphasize that the Master Sword is rusted and has been unused for a long time, and then just show Link having it. (Yes it's obvious that it will be restored.)

Either way, it was really cool to get a glimpse at civilization.  It seems really estranged from Hyrule so far, that people are just building settlements to survive rather than try to rebuild the land to its former glory.  I dunno if I'm right about that, it's just the sort of vibe I got.  Also bird people!  Fokkas, maybe?  They're definitely not the Rito.

I wouldn't be surprised if they took the Master Ore idea from Link Between Worlds a couple steps further in this game, ie: You get the Master Sword early and upgrade it somewhat frequently as you collect special Ore.

Eh, I doubt this.  There's heavy emphasis on relying on weapons you find from enemies, abandoned houses, hidden chests, etc.  Even if the Master Sword was as weak as a stick starting out, it still couldn't break because, you know, it's kind of crucial to the plot.  In a game where your weapons and armor will break, they're going to save the thing that won't until a good ways in.

Well, they could add a Sharpness system like what is in the Monster Hunter series. Upgrades to the sword increase the durability of the sword (and slight buff to damage), increasing the length of time it takes for the sword to go from Sharp to Dull (it never breaks, just wears down and does reduced damage). The mechanic already exists in Majora's Mask (Sharpened Sword, 100 hits before it breaks/wears down). They could even have Whetstones to Sharpen it on the fly or pay a blacksmith to make it temporarily extra sharp.

You may be right though that you'll have breakable swords until you get the Master Sword.
