A random point, but am I the only one who doesn't like the inclusion of 8-bit sprites? It's on a lot of items, and on some characters like Pac-Man. It just doesn't seem fitting to me. What do you guys think?

I'm honestly disappointed in this. The roster shouldn't be the ONLY thing people are hyped about. After all, there's a lot more features to be hyped about, such as some of the features of the game, the moveset editor, oh, and did I mention how the character's play, rather than just who's going to be in it.

Considering there's no Story mode nor that much content confirmed, it's not really surprising. The moveset editor is neat, but it's restricted to a certain mode, isn't it?

Then there's Smash Run, which I still don't really get the appeal of. Just seems like an alternate VS mode I probably won't be using much.

Beyond that, what else is there?

As of right now, I'm still passing on the 3DS version and will barely get the Wii U version at this rate. If the Wii U had a lot more games I was interested in, I'd probably consider passing altogether.

I think it's very charming, and a good way to honor the video games of the past.

So basically, my feelings are completely parallel to yours.

Man! SSB4 looks amazing. It looks like combos are back and every stage has a competitive variant (meaning that you pretty much don't have to turn of any stages...)

I love how all the clone characters are right next to each other on the roster... And not by the characters they're clones of.

Really, the point I was trying to make is, if all you're excited for is who is going to be in the game, rather than how they played, I questions the motives of those who follow the game. Like, by this logic, there's no reason to even buy the game, since the leaks already revealed the roster, and you know what I think? This is silly.

It's basically like saying, "Hey, want to go watch a movie?" and then saying, "No, because I already know what the plot is." Okay, yeah, you know the plot, but do you know what's around it that you might also enjoy? It's practically identical to the term "Never judge a book by its cover." If you don't enjoy one aspect of a game, you need to consider the others, and see if maybe you'll enjoy them.

I can actually make an example out of the previous Smash Bros. Games. In particular, items. Sure, it takes out the competetive aspect of Smash, but replaces it a different aspect, known as sitting down, and enjoying the game with items. Don't enjoy items? Well, okay, let's turn off items, and hey you enjoy it some more.

Simply put, I'm thinking you shouldn't judge a game based on some simple aspects such as how a demo played, the roster, or the OPness of the Villager. (Even though, he totally needs a slight nerf.) You enjoyed the previous games in the series, but there were never any real demos for those. Simply put, a demo is suppose to get you prepared for the whole thing.

Oh, and if I recall correctly, Custom Movesets are limited to offline play, unless playing online with friends. :x

Well, I can definitely say I know how the final version of the game will play. It will be the same as the demo we currently have. (The promo code one) A bunch of people in the competitive community bought the japanese version of the full game and have been trying out the characters. So really, at this point, if I judge something based on a demo, then I have every right to because this demo is, in fact, the same.
Oh, and if there are still people saying that Villager is not OP and that we shouldn't judge the game so early, I can prove with just three videos just how broken he is.

Sleep well tonight everyone, knowing this murderer is in Smash 4.

Well, these things will be hard to time during real play, I think. I tried the demo and haven't noticed the OPness of the villager yet. xD

Trust me. This will be easy to time. Even during actual play. All you have to do is practice and you can get a feel for the timing.

None of those videos prove he's OP at all. In teams, yes, but he normally won't be able to do any of those techniques. Tell me if I'm wrong but villager can't catch his own tree right?

Villager can't catch his own tree, but whatever he catches is nearly doubled in damage output when it's released and his pocket move has invincibility frames. It's basically a spot dodge that also grabs items. Not to mention it can grab anything that is considered a projectile by the game. This may not seem overpowered to you, but when I look at it, I picture all the things you could to with just that one move. I've already seen the whole roster, and I can say it isn't looking good for a lot of characters vs. Villager. Decent range, decent knockback, good priority on moves, a counter that is savable (pocket), and an excellent recovery. Not to mention the new edge mechanics mean you can't just hit his recovery and expect the job to be done until he goes into a blast zone. There's more, but I'm not into taking up a whole browser window with just my post. :)

... Eh? So people aren't allowed to be excited for the game because of the characters? Smash Bros. has been essentially the same game every generation simply with different characters, stages, swapped out features, and some altered mechanics. That's not to say that each game is exactly the same and/or that the franchise is too repetitive (frankly, what else could you do with it?) but, for a lot of people, the characters are one of the main aspects to look forward to in each sequel. I'm not quite sure how that leads you to "question their motives".

I mean no disrespect, I just think that people are allowed to be disappointed in what the game has shown us so far. Nobody has said that they're boycotting Smash Bros. because of the roster for "4". And you're right, there are still other things to look forward to in the game. But it's not so much judging a movie based on knowing what happens so much as it is knowing who is in it. I mean, let's be real. How many of us haven't watched a movie simply because it starred somebody we weren't a fan of? Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, etc. Personally, I do my best to avoid such bias, but I will react to this character roster the same way I reacted to the announcement that Russell Crowe would be playing Javert. And that's okay. The same way that it's okay for you to be totally souped about the roster and everything else the game has to offer! :) No need to question anyone's motives for anything.
