Maybe I'm one of the only ones who sees no plot holes in the story. Maybe I like it so much that I can't see them. Either way, the prologue (and its prequel and its prologue) stated that the sages were linked to the Triforce. If the new ones weren't linked to the Triforce at all, remind me why are they called sages again? Also Yuga needed to imprisoned the sages anyway. He needed to assemble them to get the Triforce of Power. The whole sage attack was a win win since it did bring all the pieces together in the end.

 

Also no one could imagine how Hilda must of felt to have her own kingdom crumble away and her people driven to despair and there was nothing she could do about it. I'm pretty sure desperation lead her into demanding a Triforce one way or another, and the only option she saw was taking Hyrule's.

 

Yuga was the Lorule version of Ganondorf, meaning how can one expect him to be loyal to Hilda? Sure, he tricked us by saying she'd be most please with the sages being imprisoned and what not but he did not say that he'd fulfill her desires. And that was the catch.

 

Also Ravio is awesome and possibly my favorite character in the series. He was a coward because he could not stand up against Yuga AND Hilda - the princess he served. That's like Link standing up against Zelda. You can't see it happening. Sure, he was a jerk wanting your money, but gameplay should always come first before storylines. Even if it does lead to some illogical issues. He helped you though, by giving you the bracelet (which saved your life!), and supplied you with equipment at the very least.

 

It's one of the cases where the story is up to you to figure out yourself (while leaving enough content to do so) as they take care of the gameplay. But eh, if you don't like it you don't like it. But I find it amazing that it's considered the worst in the series. To each their own I guess...

 

The whole LttP 2.0 deal was the goal. It was to get the new generation interested in LttP 1.0 and the old generation who played LttP 1.0 to get interested in LttP 2.0. It was really clever of them.

Tingle is annoying, yes, and demands ludicrous amounts of money. Ravio does the same except even worse. His very manerisms scream "Punch me in the face!". BUT that's only the tip of the iceberg. Consider this. Ravio knows what's going on. He knows Hyrule's doomed. He's not courageous enough to stand up for what's right, okay. But then the smart thing to do would be to go to Link, explain the situation to him, and give him all the items. But is that what Ravio does? Oh no. Instead, he says nothing. He lets Link walk right into the trap. And what's more, he makes Link pay for those items. Oncoming apocalypse? Well let's profit at other peoples' expense. Oh but let's take it a step further. Let's actively hinder his progress. Oh what's that, you found a sand rod? Technically a violation of a contract, so I'm stealing it from you, nevermind the whole end of the world thing. The fact that he knowingly sent one of the sages off with it into the Eastern Palace is also baffling. Who's side are you on buddy?

 

In short, he's obnoxious (moreso than Tingle, and that's enough reason alone to dislike him), lying, manipulative, cowardly, greedy, uncaring, and on top of everything, serves a freaking Deus ex Machina, lest the plot actually be resolved in an interesting or meaningful way. He's the worst kind of character imaginable, being both a bad human being and a bad plot device.

Whoa! I never seen somebody get so worked up over a fictional character. I'm pretty sure Ravio's backstory was decided after the game was done. "Huh huh! You know what would be a cool idea?". But clearly no thought was put into it. Lets just assume that Ravio is completely dumb and move on. Even Hilda doesn't seem to have much respect for him. Cowardice and deceit are often traits that go together, and clearly he's just lying to everybody because he's a douchbag (who is the same guy who never paid rent and spent the rest of the game retired in your home). I find him funny.

I haven't followed the discussion but I just wanted to say, I adored this game.The new mechanic bred so many awesome new puzzle ideas. Hunting for treasure and finding out the puzzles was AWESOME, and I have to say that the story, while simple, was extremely moving and complicated on a deeper level. The game was fantastic in my opinion.

 

The only gripe I have about it is that it was a little shorter for me, but I didn't mind too much. It was paced fairly well in my opinion and I think it just ended a tad too soon.

the fact that you could go do any of the dungeons in any order was freaking amazing. And that ending! That ending was freaking fantastic and beautiful. I actually didn't even expect the shop keeper to be your dark world counterpart.

 

I thoroughly enjoyed this game. I believe it went back to the roots of Zelda quite a bit, and I loved that.

BTW, what is he going to do with a sand rod if there is "no sand" in the Eastern Palace!? In game, if you use the Sand Rod on a material that is not sand, it just does nothing but make a small puff of sand. We are talking about a guy that has a rod with the power to control sand VS a guy who can turn things into "paintings on a wall"! That's like having a ant VS a dog!

I actually hated Ravio at first... but right at the end I liked him. Hell he prevented a 3rd phase of a boss from happening (although it would be awesome to watch Link beat up Hilda).

But anyway, finding out Ravio was the Lorule's version of Link shocked me... a lot.

 

So, now I got the game done, I might try out the Streetpass Battles, and start the Hero Mode of ALBW.

Watch out for Dharkstare in Hero Mode. He can insta-kill you if you're not careful. I recommend you use the Tornado Rod to avoid his attacks.

That's assuming he can actually hit you though. The majority of the Lorule bosses never actually touched me (Helmasaur and Wallmaster were the two exceptions).

 I recommend you get 16-19 heart containers, Fairies in all five bottles, Fully Upgraded Master Sword, and an upgraded Fire Rod.

The only boss that even managed to touch me was Gemesaur. The bosses are pretty predictable.

I died about 3 times to the Ceiling Master and once to the ice dungeon boss in normal mode. In hero mode I died countless times to the Ceiling Master, so I decided to beat him after I beat all the other dungeon bosses. :O

Even in additional playthroughs I die a few times here and there. Beating it in a 0-death run sounds difficult, but fairly managable if you always take potions with you. This game is not too easy.
