Actually, I think GB Sounds is messed up. A few of the tunes—New Bark Town, Azalea Town, and the Johto Encounter Theme are the only ones I can think of at the moment—sound differently than they did in the original version. I thought maybe it was because the latest Silver I played was on a ROM, but I found a GBC and my old copy of Silver, played it a bit, and found out that it's the same in the actual game card as it was in the ROM. It doesn't make much sense... icon_eyebrow.gif

It's because the games use midis (or something similar to it), and the DS's sound card is different than the GB's, so it can't perfectly emulate the GB sounds.

Gah, Suicune is hard to catch! I threw about 45 balls at him, ran out, and still didn't get him. I need to go stock up on more dusk balls, then wait for night. On a side note, Suicune's theme is my favorite of the three dog's/cat's battle themes.

So use the .mp3 versions of the tracks and convert them into something the DS can play. icon_deformed.gif

No, seriously, ever play Tony Hawk's American Sk8land? It has actual songs in it and not MIDI versions like the GBA versions had. Of course, most of the songs were cut short and the quality wasn't phenomenal, but it doesn't have to be for chiptunes. icon_razz.gif

Ya, well, it's Nintendo. They already went out of their way to remake the games, and add the GB Player for all the nostalgia addicts. Don't ask so much from them. icon_razz.gif

Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver 2SF Music Files

vio2sf
QUOTE
vio2sf is a Nintendo DS audio plugin for foobar2000, Winamp, and KbMedia Player based on the DeSmuMe emulator engine.

This is the ripped music from the games themselves. Zophar is one of my favorite places since it has several different actual game format music rips. As far as this goes, I use the winamp plugin, since most the video game rips have some sort of plugin for Winamp. icon_shrug.gif Just thought I'd share it with everyone, since I thought it was a good find. It also includes the GB Sound versions of the music. I do have to agree on some of the songs not having the best reGBized music conversions. I agree it has to do with how the hardware runs the game, and it having it's own format of music.

I think they should have had it so the Kanto Cycling and Surfing themes played when doing those in Kanto. Would've made more sense really. As well as using the Kanto "Team Rocket" theme for the Cerulean Cave. You know, leaving the Kanto themes to handle Kanto. Also, I thought Mt. Moon was going to become a full area, like Viridian Forest, but sadly, it didn't.

Eh, I'm glad they didn't. R/B/Y's bike and surfing themes got really annoying. The bike's theme because it wouldn't go away while you're riding the bike, and the surfing theme from all those hours exploiting the MissingNo. glitch. icon_deformed.gif

Mt. Moon is shorter? Thank goodness! I hated that cave in the Fr/Lg/Y.

Really? I didn't. Though I played through Blue/Yellow so many times I memorized it so I guess that's no surprise since I knew the quickest way through. icon_deformed.gif

Gonna train a bit more tonight (I finished the book I was reading, so I'll be doing it instead of my usual reading). I should be able to train fairly fast once they're all at 70. At that point I'll train them to 80 or so and head off to Red. *finally*

I kinda liked Mt. Moon. It really has nothing on the other dungeons in the series.

Well, what I meant was, in terms of difficulty. But it is fun for some reason... Nostalgia factor for those of us who began with R/B/Y? I dunno.

Called my 3rd rematch atabout 5:00. The other two were Chuck and Bugsy. Typhlosion was only L49 and beat Bugsy easily.

I think it's the nostalgia from the 8-bit games.

The only thing i am so ANNOYED from Heartgold version is the ANNOYING random phone calls i receive from Pokemon trainers. Like seriously, they need to stop calling me for the dumbest reasons ever. I don't mind rematches or items they give me. heck, i even received a Firestone from one of them..but they seriously need to stop it. Every time i hear that Pokegear cell phone ring, i just want to break the damn thing!

I agree, Christian; I wish that you could delete numbers from the phone, so that the Trainers that only call to chat can't do so any more. icon_sweat.gif Although I mostly just ignore them anyway, so it's not a terribly big deal.
