There is already an update on the e-shop, which adds "conquest battle".

I have no idea what exactly it is (since the game isn't out yet today), but it's a game mode.

So there's still hope for downloadable content.

Just downloaded the complete Japanese game. Time to get smashin'!

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have a Shulk to main.

Meanwhile, in unspoiling news, it's been revealed that you can't post on Miiverse while playing Smash 3DS because apparently, the 3DS can't handle both running at the same time (The New 3DS can however, which I'm sure is not going to go over well with some people). I'm extremely disappointed by this news because I had quite a few posts thought up that I was looking forward to posting on Miiverse, but I can't do it now).

I find this news really lame (I had a quite a few posts thought up that I was looking forward to posting, but now I can't do it. Thanks, Nintendo for giving me one less major reason to be excited for the game).

Well I think that's sad, but it isn't going to make me buy the New 3DS or NOT buy Smash Bros for the 3DS. The game's performance seems like it's going to be impressive, with 3D and 60 FPS confirmed.
Btw, you cannot post screenshots in the Pokemon X/Y forum either, but for a different reason I think.

Well, it's been announced that a demo for US players has been released for select Club Nintendo platinum members.  You get 4 codes so they encourage sharing with friends.  If anyone got one and would like to share, I'd be more than willing to trade to make a song for someone's game or quest.

Got the demo from the lovely Nate.

Villager feels....very different than I expected. He'll take some getting used to. Pikachu feels nerfed; I have a feeling I won't use him as much as I did in Brawl. Link feels fantastic, and I love his starting four color options (As we only get 4 colors in the demo). I'll definitely be using him more. Mario feels the same. And Megaman? He's alright. I expected better. He'll take some getting used to as well. :)

So excited for October 3rd!!

Apparently to get the codes, you had to have opted into Nintendo's marketing emails, which I was not. Kind of stupid, but no codes for me I guess. Pretty annoyed, but at least the public demo releases same day as my birthday? :-/

EDIT: Whoo, managed to snag a code courtesy of mrz84 at AGN. Getting used to these controls, but so far it feels pretty solid.

So I got the email from club nintendo for this. I don't really like the button setup and wish the option to change it was in this.

So testing out each character:

Megaman: Megaman feels very...awkward. His aerials all seem pretty junky apart from Fair and Bair. Recovery is okay, other special moves don't seem to be too useful. His ground based moves seem much better still.

Link: Still slow and sluggish. Nair and Bair sped up. Recovery slightly better but still bad in my opinion. New dash attack kinda sucks too. The old one seemed faster to me and had less ending lag.

Mario: Seems nerfed. Recovery has less reach than Link's slightly and a few of his attacks seem slower.

Pikachu: Heavily nerfed. Speed and physics of moves seem the same, but they do quite a bit less damage and have a much harder time of getting a KO.

Villager: OP. Wow, way OP. Two great recoveries, really good aerials, a down smash that puts you in a pit and an overpowered side smash to combine it with? Hi Meta Knight 2.0... So much for balance..

I feel that Link is actually faster. I love his new dash attack, it feels much more fluid than his Brawl and Melee ones.

Villager is OP? I don't really think so. It's hard to get his side smash to hit, because it lacks so much range. Their recoveries are great, though.

If you hit with the Down smash, it's really easy to get it to hit afterwards. It KO's at a decent percentage from what I can tell too. His Fair is a bit unfair too since you can chase someone to the edge after hitting them off the platform, get a cheap KO with it and balloon your way back.

I'll post my analysis of Link so far since I now can get a good look at his moves and how they function.
This was originally posted on my facebook:

His Dash Attack, while good when it hits, is INCREDIBLY predicable and is not safe. Sure, it's strong when it hits, but that's if your opponent doesn't shield it. And there is barely any shield stun anymore. I got grabbed out of it MID-move. Like, my friend was able to grab me while the move was still active.
His up-tilt has juggle potential, but it has high ending lag compared to the hitstun and power behind it. (Which isn't that great)
Oh, and speaking of his clawshot, I haven't tried this again yet, but I had Megaman do a down smash in front of me, so I tried to grab him when he missed. The clawshot touched him and nothing happened. This means that the hitbox for his grab is potentially too small.
Also, all of his attacks still have WAY too much ending lag considering the low reward each one gives until your opponent is at 130% or greater.
I just don't see Link having any luck against faster characters. I think he's just going to get shat on by most of the cast again.
Oh, and while I'm at it, his recovery is still bad. It has TERRIBLE horizontal momentum just like in Brawl. Trust me, that is a bad thing. It was one of the things that killed his recovery in Brawl.
