Wow. That's sad. Rule number 1: ALWAYS save before you fight a legendary. ALWAYS. ALWAYS. ALWAYS.

ALWAYS. Ya, I think you get the point. But just in case. ALWAYS SAVE BEFORE YOU FIGHT THEM.

The trainer house is pretty neat. make me wish I was using an actual game cart rather than a flash cart so I could use the Pokewalker. icon_razz.gif
Yeah, you cheapskate. icon_deformed.gif

I kid. icon_blah.gif

Anxway I FAILED with Groudon, accidently KOing it with a critical, as well with Moltres and Zapdos without saving before them icon_sweat.gif...looks like I'm going through the Elite Four again...
Dude, number one rule of Pokémon: Always save before taking on the legendaries. But wait... Taking on the Elite Four again brings all legendaries back? I thought that was just Lugia/Ho-Oh.

Oh yeah, speaking of legendaries, that's the other thing I managed to do over vacation: Catch all the readily-available ones. The stationary ones weren't a problem; it was Entei, Raikou, and Latios that annoyed me. Raikou the most. I'm willing to bet that putting Pokémon to sleep affects the catch rate a whole lot more than just paralysis, since both Entei and Latios were asleep and I caught them a whole lot quicker than Raikou, who was merely paralyzed. In fact, I caught Entei with the first Ball I threw at him: A Dusk Ball. Latios took a few more, but wasn't all that difficult. But I swear, I must've thrown at least thirty balls in all -- Dusk, Ultra, then Quick Balls, which was what I caught him with -- at the freaking thing. icon_sweat.gif

The funny part was, he was paralyzed totally randomly. I was trying to train my Pichu when he showed up, so I used Pichu's only attack move at the time -- ThunderShock -- to put some small damage on him, and it ended up paralyzing him. icon_heh.gif

EDIT: Russ u cheated. I'd've had this post up first if the idiot network hadn't crapped out at a bad time icon_frown.gif

I cheated!? Well excuse me. icon_razz.gif

I've been trying to catch the dogs, but they're so hard to get. I got Entei down to one HP, then when he next appeared, threw a quick ball. It shook three times, then broke. So dang close.

Did you put him to sleep or anything? Probably a dumb question, but you didn't say anything about it. icon_deformed.gif

That's happened to me a lot, particularly with RAIKOU!! >:O

... But yeah, I eventually got to the point where I would throw the ball and not even look at the screen until after the result. Phew, what a relief when I finally got him. icon_sweat.gif

No, I didn't. The only sleep move I know is yawn, but since it takes two turns, it won't work when he runs away. Guess I better catch something with hypnosis. Or maybe I'll just trade over the Master Ball that I never used in Platinum and use that. icon_razz.gif

>:O cheater icon_deformed.gif

Personally, I'm more of an attack-minded player, but I always keep at least one sleep-inducing move on my team. With me, it's my Victreebel's Sleep Powder. With my sister, it's her Noctowl's Hypnosis -- once it learned that as a Hoothoot, I told her over and over to keep that move forever, and she's glad she has. icon_razz.gif

... So yeah, catch something with Hypnosis. icon_heh.gif

Shedinja is hilarious. No matter what you do, it can only have 1 HP. But I guess that's only to balance out the Wonder Guard..But still! Any thing that connects will freakin' KO it!

Ya, but if you can use it well, it's impossible to beat. Definitely an interesting little guy. What's strange is how you get it. When Nincada evolves into Ninjask, if you have a spare Pokeball and an empty space in your party, you get Shedinja, which is the molted skin of Nincada. Talk about strange.

Shedinja would be okay, but the fact that it takes damage from Stealth Rock/Spikes and weather conditions kind of makes it a huge gamble to play; in addition it has pretty bad stats (except for Attack, which is mediocre) and really can't do much that something else could do better. icon_shrug.gif Cool concept, but it's pretty much a novelty Pokemon.

It only doesn't interest me because it's a post-GenII Pokémon. icon_deformed.gif

icon_lol.gif My first Pokemon game was Pearl, and I started it knowing nothing except for the Gen 1 Pokemon. I was so lost. But some of the newer ones are pretty interesting. And some suck. But some Gen 2s suck as well. Like Stantler. Which I have a shiny of.

Heh, I only didn't like Stantler because of that Frisk ability. I thought he actually took my item, so because of that, every time I see one, I CRUSH it!! icon_superevil.gif

...

Well anyways.

I'm still trying to figure out why I got back into Pokémon only for HeartGold and SoulSilver, whereas I didn't give a crap when FireRed and LeafGreen came out. Maybe it was too soon? I dunno. Gold and Silver were the best in the series, but...

I rarely ever (if at all) say this about a remake—or a port with edits, minor or not—but I seriously think these games surpass the quality of the originals in almost every way except music, but once you get GB Sounds, you can remedy that yourself. icon_heh.gif

They are very excellent games, but I really don't care for the remixed tunes. A lot of the routes and stuff, they're fine, and Violet City actually got better (remember I said I didn't care for it originally icon_razz.gif ), but the rest of the tunes... Meh, I don't know what it is. They just lack the charm of the chiptunes. icon_frown.gif

Though I enjoy the remix of Saffron/Viridian/Pewter City's themes, since I thought the one used in the originals was loud and obnoxious. icon_heh.gif

I agree wholeheartedly. Normally I like the originals better, but after comparing Gold with HeartGold, HG wins hands down. I actually like a lot of the new music, though some of it could have been better. In particular, the Violet City music and Olivine City music isn't as good as the two tracks used for Sevii Island 4/5 and Sevii Island 6/7 in Fr/LG, and the Tin Tower song is nothing compared to the Tin Tower music used in the fan remake Shiny Gold. But overall, I thought the music was good.

Actually, I think GB Sounds is messed up. A few of the tunes—New Bark Town, Azalea Town, and the Johto Encounter Theme are the only ones I can think of at the moment—sound differently than they did in the original version. I thought maybe it was because the latest Silver I played was on a ROM, but I found a GBC and my old copy of Silver, played it a bit, and found out that it's the same in the actual game card as it was in the ROM. It doesn't make much sense... icon_eyebrow.gif

I just figured out that you can have as many Leftovers as you want with the Worry Seed/Thief combo on Koga's Swalot.
