Just FYI, Dark Pit is also unique in personality (the opposite of Pit) and uses a staff rather than a bow, and considering Uprising had over 100 weapons, he may get some of those too rather than the Guardian Orbitars and the Upperdash Arm, so he may end up being more unique to Pit than Lucas was to Ness.  I mean, I'll miss Lucas too, because honestly, he was a lot better than Ness, and Mother representation is cool.  At least we got a new Mother stage that looks reallllllly awesome, though.

 

Also, considering Dr. Mario likely doesn't have FLUDD, he's instantly superior to Mario.   And they could possibly do a Dr. Luigi skin for him, like they're doing with Olimar/Alph and Bowser Jr/Koopalings.

From what I hear, he's a pretty direct Pit clone with only minor variations. I didn't watch the streams since I don't want to spoil too much, but others' reactions seem to suggest a lot of wasted potential there. I do want to be clear, though. I'm not hating on Dark Pit. Clones or semi-clones have never bothered me. I absolutely don't want to fall into the trap of hating certain characters because my favorite didn't make it. I'm sure there are people celebrating Dark Pit's inclusion. It just seems odd that the makers would justify him being in while similar clone-ish characters are cut. I wish we could have them all. And yes, Magicant looks awesome.

Well, yeah, it's over. I'm one hundred percent sure there will be DLC though.

Gameplay: My biggest, and only,concern is that shield stun is WAY too low. Leffen was able to punish literally ever move in the demo that acted his shield except two. That does not bode well for the competitive scene at all...

In regard to Dark Pit, I feel like there's a lot more potential for new Smash characters from the Kid Icarus series. Magnus? Viridi? Heck, even a lot of the one-time bosses (like what's his face, Viridi's butler whose name I forget) could have been cool. Dark Pit's fine, but I'd have liked for him to be pretty different, rather than just a reskin of Pit with minor differences.

For Lucas, having his moves available to Ness as custom moves might actually be nice. Get some mix and match stuff going here. Ness's Fire and Lightning, Lucas's Freeze, Ness's bat side smash, Lucas's PK Love up smash... this could work. Still bummed to have Lucas gone though. I'm surprised he wasn't even an alt costume like the Koopalings are.

Just from KI:U: Medusa, Hades, Viridi and Magnus all would've been better. Outside of that, Zant and Ghirahim would've easily have been better too. They are in MORE games than Dark Pit too if you count Hyrule Warriors. Let's not forget Impa and Midna too.

 

Dark Pit to me falls in the Dark/Evil Clone of the Hero that we've seen in many games. Dark Link, Shadow Mario and Dark Samus all come to mind. Out of the four, Dark Samus is the only one I actually consider more than just being a dark/evil version of the hero and could potentially be an interesting character if they had gone that route.

 

While I know only a bit about Lucas, I was fine with him being in as he was quite a bit different from Ness. If Mother 3 was released worldwide, it probably would've increased his chances.

The only thing I'm mad about is them removing Lucas. He was one of my mains. (And the horrible sub name of the games. )

 

We have SO many new characters to try. Dunk Hunt actually looks pretty fun as well. I never got to play the original on the NES, so this is a treat for me. I'm super pumped to play as Dr. Mario again!! I used him over Mario in Melee, and will be doing so again in SSB4.

 

Edit - Oh, I'm very upset how many characters are playable from the start. A lot of the charm in SSB is unlocking all the characters! Why do we start out with so many?!

 

This game is going to be a blast. Only a few weeks left.

Same - I'm pretty hyped. Sure, there's some characters that I would have liked to see. But honestly, with what we've got here, I'm more than satisfied.

In the past 24 hours, Smash Bros. for 3DS went from my most hyped game of the year to now a game I'm not so hyped for....

Seriously? No Dixie Kong (A character I've been wanting to see playable since Brawl, and she almost was playable in Brawl), No Isaac (or any Golden Sun mention in the game that I know of), & we lose the Ice Climbers (My favorite newcomers of Melee)?! Instead, we get another Mario in a different outfit (Is this Smash Bros. or Mario Kart 8?) and Dark Pit (who really should have been a Alt to Pit like Alph is to Olimar)? Duck Hunt Dog I approve of, though.
 

Sorry for the rant, but Dr. Mario & Dark Pit were why I refused to believe the leak. The leak just ruined any remaining character surprises for this game, making the past 15 months of awesome character reveals and excitement to see who could be revealed next end in disappointment. It's like watching a TV Show or Movie, or playing a video game that had an awesome beginning, an awesome middle, an awesome climax/endgame, but a terrible ending that ruined the whole show/movie/game for you.
