Catch rate is only effected my Status problems and health as far as I'm aware. Though my friend once caught Mewtwo with a Pokeball as soon as the battle started...Redunkulouz.

I FINALLY BEAT RED! My team was severly underleved, took 4 Max Revives 2 Full Restores, and the berry that cures sleep.

Team
Gly Jr. (Gligar) > Lv. 65
Tody (Totodile) > Lv. 67
Pole Jr. (Poliwrath) > Lv. 37
Exate Jr. (Xatu) > Lv. 67
Scary (Haunter) > Lv. 81
Mac Jr. (Machop) > Lv. 67

Jr. is put in the name when hatched from an egg. That was one hectic battle! Oh, I also caught Lugia (Luke).

Well yeah, but it's still random. If I paralyzed something/put it asleep and knocked its HP down to 1, there's still a random chance of not catching it.

Alright, so after getting my last gym badge in SS, I decided to venture out for Lugia.

I lowered its attack as low as it could go with Feather Dance, paralyzed it, lowered its accuracy as low as it could go with Flash, smacked it down to 1 HP, and when I began throwing Pokeballs at it... HOLY CRAP!! I threw 25 ultra balls and 13 dusk balls before I caught the stupid thing! Since I was very unhappy with that, I reset my game and went at it again. And guess what? Two dusk balls and I had it. TWO.

See? Totally random.

Here's how your chance of catching him is determined: http://bulbapedia.bu...wiki/Catch_rate

Legendaries can be tough. In Platinum, I caught Zapdos with one lucky quick ball, but Articuno took 70+ balls. You never know what to expect.

Heh, other people just got to Kanto as well? Good-- I just got there a couple days ago too! Those stupid Dragonites were quite the obstacle (at least for me icon_razz.gif). And, doubt anyone cares, but... team update!

Typhlosion, Ampharos, Heracross, Azumarill, Bellossom, and Crobat, all 'round level 45 or so. icon_razz.gif Lt. Surge is giving me some pain; need an Earthquaker!

But, after Surge, I think I'll breeze through the rest of the game pretty easy-style. ^^'

It took me a while to get here 'cause I'm trying to appreciate every aspect of this game; there're so many little things, it's awesome! I haven't been past Vermillion yet, but so far, Kanto = awesome * nostalgic!

Yeah, I know.

Anyways, I decided I'd try and scrape some experience from the Elite Four since my team is still pretty weak, and they're all uber'd up...I got passed Will before Koga wiped out everything I had. :B

Ugh. I didn't really do much in SoulSilver over vacation, other than level Charizard to 52. I also managed to evolve Torchic into Blaziken, then boxed him. Poor Blaziken. icon_deformed.gif

I didn't work too much on my Electric party (Pichu, Raichu, Pikachu, Plusle, Minun, and Pidgeot for transport icon_deformed.gif ), and actually spent most of my time just catching Pokémon. Caught a whole bunch of Hoenn Pokémon on Wednesday, but only, like, one Sinnoh Pokémon on Thursday when I gave up. icon_razz.gif

I totally managed to cheat with the Pokéwalker: I forgot it was in my pocket when I went for a ride on the four-wheeler, and when I came back up and found it in my pocket, it had added up a whole bunch of steps. So every time I went for a ride, I took the Pokéwalker with me. icon_heh.gif

Well... It's been awhile, but I'll list my current party.
  • Lv. 52 Charizard
  • Lv. 100 Typhlosion
  • Lv. 86 Pidgeot
  • Lv. 86 Victreebel
  • Lv. 87 Gyarados
  • Lv. 86 Golem
Yeah, I tossed Lugia, because tag-teaming Charizard and Typhlosion is much more awesome. Plus no legendaries. icon_blah.gif

Uber-spammed Gym Leader rematches. icon_blah.gif

I determined which Leader's type of Pokémon were best matches for each of my Pokémon, changed the DS's time, then just fought over and over again. Most of them had Pokérus while I did it, so that boosted their stats. icon_razz.gif

Well, I guess that works. Just beat Misty. She was a bit tougher than Surge, but not too bad. Now I'm off to find Suicine. I thought he would be at the cape where Misty was, but apparently I have to find him somewhere else first. Anybody else find Eusine somewhat strange? Think of what Suicine would say if we could understand him.

"Look, you go to help me! This creepy guy's been stalking me all around the country! Every time I run away he follow me and - Oh crap there he is!" *runs*

I just did Elite 4 Round 2. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. I still think the Sinnoh Elite 4 is toughest out of all of the elite 4's I faced.

Oh yeah, here's a little thing I discovered...

Anybody remember the Trainer House in Viridian City in the original G/S/C, where you would fight a trainer named Cal who had a Typhlosion, Meganium, and Feraligatr, all at level 50? Anybody remember how, if you did Mystery Gift with someone else, Cal would be replaced with the person you did Mystery Gift with?

Well, my sister and I found out you can do something similar to Mystery Gift with each other's Pokéwalkers. Sometimes you get dinky items like Potions, but occasionally you can get something better, like a shard.

Anyways, I didn't really think about the Trainer House thing. In fact, when I found out that your team gets forced down to level 50 and you only get Battle Points for fighting Cal, I gave up on it quickly, but something drew me to go back and try it out. So imagine my shock when not only Cal's there, but a female NPC as well. When I talked to her, she had the same name and team as my sister's character. It was pretty interesting, actually, and cool that you could now fight every trainer you Mystery Gift with and Cal, instead of them being replaced each time.

Oh, and I'm not dissing Battle Points anymore, after I found out you can guy Protein, Carbos, etc. at the Battle Frontier for only one point each. :O

The trainer house is pretty neat. make me wish I was using an actual game cart rather than a flash cart so I could use the Pokewalker. icon_razz.gif

I knew about that already from Serebii, however, there aren't any folks around here with the game icon_glare.gif. Anxway I FAILED with Groudon, accidently KOing it with a critical, as well with Moltres and Zapdos without saving before them icon_sweat.gif...looks like I'm going through the Elite Four again...
