Currently bunking up in Castelia. Man, Skyarrow Bridge was awesome!

My current team is Blitzle, Panpour, Pidove, Servine, Victini (just caught him~!), and Herdier.

Beat Lenora, thanks to some clutch dodging by Leonidas. My team is growing fast, and it's only a matter of time until I have to start rotating 'mons.

New Members:

Mack
-Patrat, male, Level 6
-Lonely nature (+Atk, -Def)
-Capable of taking hits.
-Ability: Run Away
-Caught at: Route 2
-Obligatory Cut slave. Fortunately, he's the only HM slave I'll need. Benched when I got a seventh party member.
-Anyone who figures out where I got the name wins an internet.

Faraday
-Blitzle, male, Level 15
-Modest nature (+SpA, -Atk) (Not as bad as it sounds...)
-Often dozes off.
-Ability: Motor Drive
Caught at: Route 3
-Named after Michael Faraday, the 19th Century British scientist who invented the first prototype electric motor.

Enigma
-Woobat, female, Level 15
-Bashful nature (Neutral)
-Strongly defiant.
-Ability: Klutz
-Caught at: Wellspring Cave
-If it wasn't for her, my team would be a sausage fest right now. Unfortunately for her, she'll get benched when I get a better flier. icon_neutral.gif
-Anyone who figures out where I got this name will also win an internet.

Barnum
-Timburr, male, Level 17
-Docile nature (Neutral)
-Likes to thrash about.
-Ability: Sheer Force
-Caught at: Pinwheel Forest
-Needed a sure thing for Lenora's gym. As it turns out, he didn't help too much against Lenora herself. icon_neutral.gif
-The name is based on the Barnum & Bailey circus, as the Timburr line seems to be based on circus strongmen.

Current Party
Leonidas (18, and now a Dewott)
Barnum (17)
Angus (16, and now a Herdier)
Faraday (15)
Enigma (15)
Fuego (15)

Alright, I beat the 4th Gym.

Party:
Dewott (Lv. 30)
Levanny (Lv. 30) <- If you're going for him, make sure your Swadloon is at max happiness A.S.A.P. before Level 36 at most.
Krookorok (Lv. 30)
Solosis (Lv. 21) <- New Pokemon

I want to get Axew and another good Sp. Atk Pokemon. I don't know which one.

So far, I'm really enjoying this game over D/P. They definitely fixed a lot of the issues.

Well, I think I may go play FFCC: Echoes of Time now. See ya' later.

It's been awhile, Pokemon.

Anyone else completely tired of how much the game holds your hand? Like, there are no real options or possibilities for any independence in the game beyond your team. You're never hinted at anything, but rather blatantly told exactly where to go, who to talk to, and if you try to look around, there's always someone standing in your way who'll just remind you that you're supposed to go follow the plot stricter.

I know it's a kid game but mannnnn. I am capable of figuring s*** out Nintendo.

I know it's a kid game but mannnnn. I am capable of figuring s*** out Nintendo.

A lot of games do this these days. I felt like Diamond/Pearl/Platinum didn't really hold your hand (so to speak) that much, but it did a lot of times. The plot of Pokemon games has never been anything near great, but I didn't notice this until Platinum but they interrupt your journey at completely random times to battle some Team Galactic or Team Rocket or Team Aqua or Team something, but I liked how in Red/Blue the bases and caves were puzzles that really got me. icon_wacky.gif But I liked it, it was a challenge. While in Platinum I felt like Victory Road and Galactic Base were pretty much straight forward except for a wrong staircase here and there.

Another problem I have with Pokemon games in general is the plot. (Not the spin-off games, the main series of games) I haven't played B/W yet, but I can pretty much guess that it goes like this:
Beat eight gym leaders
Beat some bad guys in between
Catch the legendary Pokemon
Battle the Elite Four (with a champion)
Go out and do a little stuff after then you're done

It was okay the first few times, but they need to change things up. Not all Mario sidescroller games had 32 levels, and I feel like that is what Pokemon is doing. The plot is too easily predicted, and while I don't think Pokemon is supposed to be plot heavy, I think it should have a change. The only changes they really make are the changes in characters and the "evil" teams.

My ramble, keep in mind I have not got my hands on B/W, so some things may be wrong. icon_smile.gif

Well, Black and White still follow roughly the same formula, but they're really trying to change the plot up. Seems pretty basic so far, but I've heard it has a lot of twists.

As far as formulas go, they should learn from the spin off games. Take XD for example. It abolished the gym system altogether, and replaced it with an actually thought out plot. And it worked. But sadly, I don't think we'll ever get a main series game like that.

Fourth Gym is done. Sandile really pulled through.

Yeah, there is definitely a better emphasis on plot this time around. Especially considering the scene between Bianca and her father after you check out the Pokemon Musical.

I'll also add that if that scene doesn't tell you that "Pokemon is Serious Business"...you got as many screws loose as Team Plasma does.
