The game looks like it will most likely knock Melee to #2 of my favorite Fighting games list.
I was a little bit shocked to hear that it wouldn't be the same way with some of the pro friends I've got. They aren't really all that excited about Brawl. They will continue going to Melee events and tournaments, and will continue to win them. I assume that Brawl will "fix" the various things that made Melee so ... ... well, ... ... I hate to say it, but glitchy. Glitchy enough to exploit.

Well that looks like a fun map to me. They even included the cannon from Kirby's Super Star. I wonder if Heavy Lobster will also be in there.

EDIT: Remembered the name of the robot.

wtf everybody SLOW DOWN AND STOP GOING THROUGH WHOLE PAGES! I'M NOT GOING TO READ THEM ALL! icon_deformed.gif

Nice stage. I'm hooked in. I love stages with perils! icon_biggrin.gif

Oh, and why can't Sonic be a playable character? I'd like to see that. Or better yet, Shadow. icon_naughty.gif

It's not that he wouldn't be awesome. It's just that it ain't happening.

HALBERD FTW! Loks very dynamic and interesting... this is really the first time where I've seen a stage that can really impact the battle. In Melee, the player would make a mistake and hit a hazard... in Brawl, the hazards will reach out and get you!

For those of you who have doubts whether or not Brawl will surpass Melee,... well here's the deciding factor! The new special brawls just flat-out OWN. So not only does the feature from Melee return, it returns with a really nice upgrade. MIX AND MATCH! icon_w00t.gif So let's see what wasn't in Melee...

1) Flower/Bunny (which verifies the return of the Bunny Hood)
2) Metal (I'm assuming Clear is part of Invisible Melee)
3) Curry/Reflect status (Looks like a match with permenant Curry and Franklin Badge item effects)
4) Gravity (Personal fave, right here!)

It seems like all of the Melee options return, as well. Correct me if I'm wrong, though.

Well, when you are so familiar with something like that, sometimes it's hard to let go... icon_wink.gif I tend to "let go" of older fighting games once they come out with the next sequel, but I can't say that I don't miss playing Link in Soul Calibur 2, for instance. (Not to mention the version of Talim that didn't suck.)

As for Melee... yes, a friend of mine who regularly wins Smash Bros. tournaments has shown me a bunch of the glitches. icon_neutral.gif I am also not-so-fond of complex techniques that aren't in any manual or non-fanmade tutorial. Not for SSB, anyway. The unlisted techniques tend to be downright weird and unnecessary (or, as you said, glitchy).

The new mode is pretty nice, but not NEARLY as nice as it easily could have been. The thing is, what they did there was pretty much just consolidated all of SSBM's Modes (And the ones new to Brawl, though they're not many in number...) and moved them into one screen, and allowed you to toggle them rather than choosing only one.

That's pretty nice.

However, what they did NOT do, is create advanced options as a subset of all of those. Most of those options are boolean. They either are, or they aren't. You're either in normal mode, or slow mode, or fast mode. You either have the bunny hood the whole match, or you don't. You have EXACTLY 150% damage in Stamina mode, and EXACTLY 300% health in Sudden Death Mode.

... ... So ... ... Why not be able to change those numbers? icon_shrug.gif Seriously guys, what the hell? I'd absolutely go crazy for a Stamina mode with 999% damage rather than 150%. It's actually pretty limiting. icon_confused.gif Why not make the Bunny Hood go away after a while? Why not have an actual slider for the speed settings (With a preview mode of course. icon_razz.gif ) rather than just "slow" and "fast?"

Ice Climbers are back.
I didn't expect that.
I hope they got any better though. And I want to see their stage which I hope isn't scrolling this time.
