Very nice MK. Nice balance of detail, It could use some other kind of ground texture though. One ground is a bit boring. But it looks fine how it is. And one more note, where are all the houses? It's a village, isn't it? I'm assuming this is just the entrance and that it's not finished yet.

Yeah it doesn't look like a village it's more of an entrance/outskirt. The village will start to appear as you climb the mountain. Thanks!

To be totally honest, I don't like the way this screen looks. The ice looks really weird next to all the rounded objects, and so does that long rock. The one rock is different looking from all the others, the screen feels crowded. You could do without the snow piles, they clash with the other tiles and they make the screen really cramped, plus it seems you are using them as a ground detail when they are actually supposed to be a solid tile. Adding some snowy trees and bushes would add some color to the screen without ruining the feel. Basically, clear up most of the ground detail, remove the square ice and rock, and if you want add some green into the screen. Just suggestions, and just my opinion. Its a really good start, and I can see why you designed it the way you did, but I disagree. icon_smile.gif

Well, let me explain a little. First of all, the snow piles are solid objects...they're the summit's answer to bushes. The screen's built so that the only way you can go is straight. In fact, you can't do anything else there even after getting the sword, because west from there is just a dead end.

There's also a specific reason why I'm not using any trees or plants: it's too high up for them to survive. That screen is above the timberline.

...And it's supposed to feel dull and bleak and stuff.

Instead of posting the same thing 3 times (No offense), why not make more screens of it?

The third map I showed shows the slight changes I made at the top. And this will be the last time I show this map. Until I get a good deal of the village done. Sorry if it annoyed you.

Sorry if it annoyed you.

You don't have to worry about annoying anyone, bud. Lynker was only making a suggestion. icon_smile.gif I don't think anyone was really annoyed.

I'm trying to make a beach screen south of the area link starts in, but I cannot work out what to put in and they are quite empty.
Here's what I got so far (screens go from left to right and the cave on the right leads to the sword):

Screen 1:

Screen 2:

Screen 3:

Can anyone give me advice on what to add?
Thanks for any help!

Looks a lot like some palm trees and a few bushes might do the trick.

Mudkipz, i really like GB screens, and your screens are not bad at all. BUT, screen 2 and 3 are really empty and the colours are pretty boring, being only yellow and blue. Try adding more objects and in different colours and c-sets. Besides that, the screen design and the details present are great.

I've revealed another screen of TLKDX:

IPB Image

It's the entrance to the Forgotten Forest. Nothing really special. This has no real equilevent in the orignal.

@Orin: I think that's a very solid screen. My only issue is that the bushes look like they're kinda out in the middle of nowhere (not a big deal, it's just something that I don't do, or see much of

So, I actually motivated myself to do something on Void of Madness today (which means I'll likely be working like crazy for the next few weeks. My inspiration and interest is kinda streaky like that...). Anyhow, I produced these:

I really like this!
But, don't you think the mountains are a it too high and boring? Maybe splitting them would help it look better. It might take some more work on the other screens, but it's definitely worth it!
