Yeah, I won't be buying this for the 3DS after all. The only way they'll convince me otherwise is if they toss in Majora's Mask too. I mean it's the same engine, and I guarantee they can fit it in. So why not?

My opinion is Majora's Mask was a better, well constructed game anyway. If ANY game is worthy of a port/remake/whatever, its Majora's Mask.

However, if I actually ever do feel like playing either of those games, I'll just bust out my old N64.

Remember guys, these graphics are blown up a bit, as in bigger. It's not the size of a 3DS screen. They'll look better on a 3DS icon_wink.gif

Agree with you 100%. Majora's mask was a lot better and seeing that game with these high quality graphics would blow my mind!
But they should really add stuff to MM if they would ever make it on the 3DS because I thought it was way to short. It's such a beautiful game, why'd it have to end so soon? icon_frown.gif

Actually, it took me the about the same amount of time to beat MM as it did OoT. Then again, I did a lot of the sidequests. While the main game in MM is a lot shorter than OoT (4 dungeons compared to 9), there's a whole lot more sidequests, and a whole lot more stuff in between the dungeons.

Still, if they do remake MM, I don't want it to be like OoT 3D. I want more stuff added. More sidequests, more masks, maybe an extra level, stuff like that. As much as I love the game, if they did a direct port of it with nothing changed but graphics, I don't think I'd get it.

I agree with Russ- personally, I'd love to see an extra dungeon that requires the use of the 3 transformation masks (like, using them for each element, not just to create statues to cover switches) as well as all 3 arrow types. That'd be pretty darn rad.

Just found this.
I just hope it's not the same as the Japanese one I posted yesterday.

... Wow... Let me get this straight. We give Nintendo tons of free advertising. And in return, they give us a trailer for a 13 year old game. It's not like we're gonna find anything new about OoT. And we've seen the new graphics for almost every area. Really, that's just plain ridiculous.

No one but you is complaining icon_wink.gif

The link says I have to follow them on twitter. But I do not have a twitter account. and I'm way to lazy to make one just to see a trailer. Do I have to?

They already did it. It was a cheap "trailer"
But it did show off the visions.

I thought I told you to ignore his posts if they bug you so much, instead of bugging everyone else with comments like this.

Anyways, I have to agree with Russ. Bunch of links to a Twitter page and all they do is show off a trailer. Which just shows off stuff we already knew about. Why not just show the trailer without that crap? (See, Keiichi? Russ ain't the only one complaining.) Now about the trailer itself, at least now I know what the hint movies are like. Guess I don't have to go see what one's like and then reset so it doesn't save that I used one after all. icon_deformed.gif

I'm torn on the changing of the hookshot target, changing the reticle when it's aiming over something you can hook onto. I'm trying to think of anything that was secret before that would ruin the purpose of having a target tell you when you could latch onto it. The tree over the Forest Temple entrance? Nah, you can figure that out before whipping out the item. I think there was a hidden target behind a non-solid wall in the Gerudo Training Ground. Wonder if that'll just place the reticle on the outside on the wall instead of letting it go through. Meh. Small complaint. It seems fine. Not sure the laser sight is necessary though.

All in all, it was an "eh" trailer, definitely not worth getting 1,000 people to tweet with some tag. ... then again that wouldn't take long with the number of Zelda fans, but still. Should've just released it immediately, but whatever. It's out now.

With the addition of that trailer, I feel I have to update what I said previously: "Sorry Nintendo, nostalgia, pretty graphics and dumbed-down difficulty just don't cut it for me anymore." I mean, seriously, those hint videos took away the last bit of appeal this game had for me. Why would I ever buy an "updated" version of a game that's easier? That's like going backwards.

I think the hookshot cursor changing is more or less the way of saying "You can reach this" as opposed to the red dot that didn't change regardless.

Either way... Blargh. I've b****ed enough about OoT... Gotta find something new, it's becoming so mainstream now.

So it looks like they're using a new engine that isn't capable of replicating the original animations and graphics taken from a N64 High Resolution Texture Project so character models etc. take the same shape as the originals.

Honestly, I like this, but I have to agree with Russ, we need some new features. Maybe they could make the Ice Temple and Air Temple. That would make me definitely go out of my way to buy this. I would like to be able to also use the sword under water, instead of only being able to use the hookshot. Same with on horseback, but give us more things to do in hyrule field, maybe some moblins on horseback. I mean, if TP did it, then why not add these to OoT 3DS?

[rant] ...Alright... That single change to the hookshot really isn't making me like the changes to the game. It just looks... Idiotic, to be quite frank. Plus, it was pretty obvious what you could hookshot to in the original... I don't need something pointing it out to me. The hint system is incredibly hand-holding, too. It's not "oh, here's a tip on getting through..." it's "here, let me tell you everything you possibly need to know about doing this..." [/rant]

It honestly looks pretty good... Portable OoT would be enough for me, honestly... However, the new graphics look nice, I was never able to play through Master Quest, and I love some of the bosses, they'll be fun to replay. Now maybe if they had some REAL new content it would be good...
