idk, to me it just looks like a cloud. Could be an island I guess

I don't think I've ever seen a cloud look like that before...

...then again I initially thought that was a WW2 aircraft... yeah I have one hell of an imagination it seems >_>

Would be neat to have floating islands in the sky though (maybe make it be something similar to Skyloft or City in the Sky)

I dunno if it was confirmed or discussed yet, but who else here thinks that Link's traditional equipment is going to be offered as late game equipment?

I don't think this game has abandoned the Green (Hero's) Tunic, Hylian Shield, and Master Sword. Especially since the Master Sword has been featured in some of the promotional art. But it's just a small theory of mine which I think will likely come true.

I would say so. If they provided those items so early on, the whole idea of multiple weapons, shields and clothes would be abandoned by many in favor of tradition. I say those trial mini-dungeons might tie in with some of those items. After all, it's confirmed these trials are meant to prove Link's courage and the hero within him. Sounds like a test to prove himself worthy of these items.

If this game is so much about collecting stuff, it shouldnt be unlikely that you have to collect stuff and put it together or upgrade them, right? We have seen this in ss and in ww we also had to gain the master swords true powers.

I could totally see them doing that in a sense of "Here's the familiar items, but by that point, you've grown so attached to the new items, do you really want to abandon them?" I mean sure several people would, but it could be an intentional design decision.

Re Old Man's identity, I think he's significant. I don't think it's fair to shoot down early speculation, and, as mentioned, his line about just being an ordinary old man seems way too suspicious. It could be an in-joke, and that too wouldn't surprise me, but even if Zelda's going in new territory, they're not throwing out everything, and they like their "subtle" hints, so the Old Man likely has some significance, even if he's just some new, unintroduced sage or something.

Context for above, it was from the description from Zelda 1 when Shigeru Miyamoto himself posted it on PureZC. It's now hidden, but the details are here:

Small updates.

Very high praise from other Japanese developers.

Miyamoto talking about the series returning to its core. This is all very good news indeed.

So much background-stuff I do not know about, especially the animation and most of the artwork (once searched for it but couldn't find a good site). And maybe we will just learn a bit more about some cow-robbers.

While I like the open exploring-idea I have some issues with it. I am happy about it being not an online game, but some way to play together (like this one mario game where you can play some helper or so) would be nice for such a game. And I am a bit afraid that there might be only a limited amount to explore in a large area and because I have limited time I might prefer looking things up but that mostly include spoilers I don't want (like said cow-robbers, it was awesome and highly confusing to got to the farm complete without an idea). I mean the might be some tricky parts in Zelda-Games and there where a few times I ran in circles for a bit that might cost me a frustrating half hour or even more, but so far I solved any (official) Zelda-Game without help (completion like all skulltulas excluded), but there you had a really limited area to look through. Though most likely I will love the game anyway. Just whoever you will speak with about it, you will spoiling each other non-stop. (I am mostly whining around because I know anyway that I don't have the money for the next few years ;) )

Remember the futuristic Zelda sketch from ALttP development? What's that device at her side? A Sheikah Slate?

... it's a pouch. Remember those? :P I'm sure the Sheikah Slate only exists as an analogue for the physical gamepad, similar to the Tingle Tuner or Stone of Agony. I highly doubt there's any lore about it other than "this is the gamepad" and didn't exist prior to the Wii U.

Aww, you know what I mean :P there must be something tech-y in that pouch ;)

Not saying they envisioned a wii u gamepad back in the day, but no reason they couldn't repurpose unused ideas from back then.

I'm tempted to think that if a later part of this game took place in the future, that old "Link to the Future" idea could actually be done well, but totally fine if they don't go there, it's not needed, but it still could be cool if done right I think, eh.

I hope there will be fixed difficulty ranges for each area of the game instead of scaling difficulty or the ALBW's "everything is possible" difficulty.

I think that's the best way to go. The first Zelda was kind of like that. Go to Death Mountain early? Lynels will jump you. Enter level 3 early? Watch out for dark nuts.

Those areas can be handled early depending on skill, and equipment, and this game seems to be focusing more on exploration and equipment finding/ making.

Suddenly, a flash of blinding light. As it settles, it reveals a silver horse, with strange magical contraption sitting on the back. Seated in the saddle is Sahasrahla, wearing strange orange robes and odd ocular lenses.

"Link!" he cries. "You've gotta come back with me!"

"... where?" Link asks, dumbfounded.

"Back to the future!"
