As far as I know, there's no upgraded candle. Go visit the room with only 1 torch, I think there was a passage that mentioned how to solve that puzzle.

It seems that you need the red candle, or do you? There are four "torch" rooms in the monastery, and in one of those rooms, there's a sign with an important hint regarding the logic and gimmick behind these "torch" rooms. It's possible to find all four rooms once you have found two small keys.

Look carefully, maybe even behind a bookcase, for cracks in the walls. There are at least two such cracked walls which open up the way forward towards all of the other torch rooms.

There is no red candle, lighting the room with only one torch will light that exact same torch in the following rooms, that's what the sign meant about "bringing light to others", something like that

You don't need the red candle for this. There is indeed a signpost hint in one of the rooms about what you need to do there. If you have the blue candle and have found all four rooms, you have all you need.

There is a L-2 shield for sale. Now that you have the bombs, you can venture back out into Sandy Plains and and find the L-2 shield shop.

Can you kill Sideview Hill's boss' bees? If not, it's pretty impossible to defeat this boss even on hero mode.

Okay, I seem to be at what seems to be the final dungeon by now. At 10:11 playtime, I'm missing two heart pieces, and there are two empty inventory slots, one next to the Ex1 button and another next to the hookshot. Do I get these slots in the Dark Sanctuary? I already found the Purple Potions as well. One heart piece is next to the Monastery, but there is a lockblock there... where is the key to there?

 

And lastly, I'm curious about a room in Sideview Hills. At the area where you get the two halfs of the Boss Key, at the topmost room to the left, (the area filled with Purple Darknuts), there is a room with an opening that I could reach if the Roc's Feather could jump a bit higher... Is there a Heart Piece in there? If so, how can I reach whatever is in there if there is any treasure?

That was quite the "aha" moment when I found out the - so obvious only in retrospect - solution to this particular problem.

Do you recall the NPC in the cave to the north of the house where you got the bug net? The NPC gives a strong hint about where to find the key in question. As for the other HCP you're missing, well, that's always really tough to guess. It's possible to get all 12 hearts before the Dark Sancutary, though.

 

You can reach the opening in that segment of sideview hills without any special items. I wouldn't bother to go back and do so, though, because it's just the level map in there.

To help you figure out how much of the map you're missing, I can tell you the map of the ground floor is perfectly symetrical. Closely look at the torches in the room with star tiles in the western half of the map. There's a passage there that, ultimately, will allow you to get a key. Did you find that one?
