Dunk a darknut in the lava and see what happens. This room stumps a lot of players because they assume the enemies are only good for killing.

This is where Im stuck. I seriously dont get this. How am I supposed to get a darknut into the lava here? You can barely catch the darknut thats already in the lava with the magnet because its on the edge of the screen, and I cant pull anything towards it for the same reason. I thought you might be able to use the crystal, but that doesnt work either

Ive tried to see if I can hit the darknut itself into the lava, but their shield prevent you from hitting them in almost any way that would make them get knocked back

IIRC there's two ways to dunk the darknut:

  • The "fun" way: Get it to follow you as you cross the crumbling floor, takes some good timing to pull off.
  • The easy way: Wait for it to walk onto the crumbling floor, stun it with the magnet, then walk over it while it's stunned.

Hi again, Russ!

Thanks for answering my last inquiry! Awesome quest, btw! Really great puzzles and script! Five stars!

Now, how do I beat Dracus in the Ice Cavern? I've died like fifty times, tried ten times with a full potion, and still aint getting, I think, nowhere near beating him. I'm no hardcore ZC-gamer, but this is just getting embarrassing.

Hrm... how many heart containers do you have? You can have nine at this point, so I'd recommend trying to get them all - the health really helps. If you want a list of the hidden ones you can reach now...

Spoiler

A shield also really helps to block his magic projectiles. There's two general strategies. While arrows only deal half the damage of the sword to him (if you don't have the better sword, make sure to get it by swimming into a waterfall just north of town), they allow you to stay away from him. Whenever he plops down a clone, you can walk past and quickly hit it with an arrow to kill it. As long as you keep moving, he'll have trouble hitting you with his other two attacks. His teleporting attack can be tricky, but there's a specific angle you can move away from him at that makes his shots have trouble tracking you. You can keep your distance and pelt him with arrows from afar. OR, you can try getting up in his face and using the sword. Because he can't hurt you just after getting hit, you can slash at him, then quickly run through him to avoid taking damage. This strategy becomes a bit more difficult when he hits half health though.

If you follow all that, you should be able to bring him down. If not, let me know and I can tone down difficulty for you a bit. My goal was to balance the game so that it would provide a reasonable challenge if the player didn't buy any items, but shouldn't be too hard with a shield and potion. If Dracus is too hard even with all that, then I made a mistake, and I can fix it.

Other than the difficulty issue here though, I'm glad you're enjoying the quest!

Yeah, I think you'll have to help me out with this. I'm less than an inch from giving up at this point. Even with full potion I've managed to get him to half health just once, and then it gets REALLY hard. :)

Great game, tho!

Okay, try this out then. His attacks deal half damage and he has 3/5 of his normal HP. If you were able to get him to half health before, you should be able to beat him now. If not, let me know and I can beat him with the nerf bat again.

I'm playing this on the latest "stable" ZC 2.5 build and was wondering if it's normal that I can't interact with the green diamond switches in any room nor the roundish switch found in a room on the left side of the first dungeon. I've gotten the flippers and used them to find a Heart Piece on the first island.

To elaborate, from what I've read of this topic I'm meant to swim to a room on the left side of the dungeon, in this room is a trapped Goriyah and a magic shooting thing on the wall, 2 green diamond's and a circular switch. From what I read you're meant to get the boomerang here, however I don't see how you get it... I kill the Goriyah with arrows and can't interact with anything in the room. None of the switches react to bombs, arrows or my sword. The eye thing shooting magic and the diamond switches all seem to be on a different plane of existence, I walk through them and the magic can't hit me.

There's a tablet near the start of the dungeon that tells you any boomerang will hit crystal switches. You might not have a boomerang, but the caged Goriya does, and he's all too happy to aim it wherever you want him too. ;)

Oooh, okay. As a result of exploring the island with the flippers, I have that girl following me around including inside the dungeon, that's normal right? I dunno if it was possible to reach her on the island without the flippers.

If Rose is following you, that means you're doing things right so far. If she doesn't follow you into the Tidal Sanctum, you're guaranteed to get the worst ending. Her being with you means you can get the neutral and best endings.

Minor bug: When you enter Magma Sanctum or Continue after dying while in it, you can't escape the dungeon unless you first travel to another screen and then return to the screen with the exit.

On that screen where you suggested dunking a darknut in the water, I've done that, and then when I use the magnet, all it does is pull the other darknut over to my side.  I have no idea how to physically cross that chasm myself.

Once the darknut's dunked in the lava, pull then darknut on the other side just a tiny bit forward. Rather than pulling him all the way across, pull him one tile forward into the lava. Then you can place the magnet on the other side and pull yourself across.
