In the basement of Spectacle Rock, after obtaining the Magic Key, there's a puzzle in which you use wand fire to burn some bushes, but after bouncing them off the mirrors, nothing happens

Despite previous hints, I am unable to zero in on the entrance to level 7. 

Would anyone be so kind to direct me in a more specific direction, specifically, where is that Gorblin cave to hand in the bait?  Thanks.

Okay, lemme see if I can catch up:

 

In level 8, and I can't seem to find the above mentioned spiral staircase. I've looked in every nook and cranny (but apparently, I'm missing something).

 

Do I need a mirror shield for this:

 

 

Also, I got stuck in the wall after saving from the main entrance. Fortunately, I wiggled out of it!

(spiral staircase & picture 1) Well, you found out where you have to go!  That's a mirror shield puzzle; once you get the mirror shield (of which the location is mentioned a couple times in this thread), you bounce off the statues' fireballs and try to figure out which 4 targets you need to hit in a row to trigger the secret.

 

(picture 2)   Dang.  One more of those 2.10-to-2.50 continue bugs.  I'll research it as soon as I get a chance.  (I'm at school right now.)

edit: the tree wouldnt catch fire if i bounced it. if i angled myself a 1/2 block up from the mirror in the bottom left and shot it W towards the wall, it catches the corner of the tree and works. i dont know if this is the correct solution, but its the only way i could get it to work (im using 2.5 btw)

 

edit2: when you pay the toll in the key maze, is the gate supposed to open up? because the dude is on top of it and nothing happens i should really use the right zc version when im playing these lol

 Ah, yes.  This has been my biggest hurdle to conquer with version 2.10 - making wand fire triggers work.  If the fire burns one combo away from the wand fire trigger (bush, in this case), it works.  I can't make the wand fire stop when it reaches the trigger.  Once I make the DX version of the quest in version 2.50, I'll have a bit more control over that.

I'm sure it worked for me when I tried it in 2.50, though.  I use the version that's compatible with Windows 7.  Not sure what version you're using...

 

(key maze) That trigger is actually an illusion.  When the Skull Kid "steps" on it, it removes a block that blocks you from going east into the maze.  Really, the trigger is not a trigger combo, but changes via screen secrets once you take the green jar.  ... If you can't go east, I don't know what happened.  I've tested this (and had this tested) in both versions 2.10 and 2.50, and it worked in both.

 

***I would discourage anyone from using any intermediate version of ZC to play this.  I've really only had it tested in these, along with version 2.11, so any other version of ZC may have unforeseen bugs.***

 

Another quick bug:

 

So, I went up from where Link is standing on this screen in Level 8:

Darn combo placement bugs!   They're the bane of a questmaker's existence!  Thanks for pointing it out.  I've had issues like this with level 8 before, so I shouldn't be surprised to find one more.  I'll fix it as soon as I get the chance.

 

 

Where do I find the key for this locked closet?

Assuming you found the previous key on the rooftop, outside the attic, you'll find the other key in a guest room on the second floor.  I posted the location of said key in a spoiler in post #17 of this thread. (Unless you've read the entire thread, it may not have been obvious, so I'm linking it here for your convenience. )

Ah, yes!  Sounds like you've found Gorblin Island but not the entrance. 

Level 7 Entrance Location:

Look for the Water Gohma shell that has its eye open (located on the boot of the Gorblin if you look at your map). Bomb the eye to find the entrance.

The info shop lady on Sheltered Island gives the hint for this location.

 

Well, looks like that's it for now.  I'll try to fix the bugs after I get home from school.  (Hopefully I'll have time today; I can't promise it, though, because of schoolwork.)

 

Edit: Meh, figures I'd miss a few posts after typing for so long.  Oh well!  AirLuigi's info is right.

 

@phatjak69:  What version of ZC are you using?  Some others seem to be having the same problem, as long as you made sure the wand fire burns right next to the bush (1 combo away should do the trick).

You can access there with the lens. I will post a screen about where to dive to find the lens dungeon.

(elusive screen) Look for me, Lightwulf, in-game in the Underworld.  Once you reach my house, pay 100 rupees and I give you the maze path to reach that screen.

... Sorry I don't just give it to you.  That's one of the greatest secrets in the game.  I will say this, though: the item located there is mentioned by Captain Mido (the harbormaster) in Harbor Town.

 

(lens)  I have to correct AirLuigi on one thing: he showed you where to swim into; they're actually not dive warps, but swim warps (it took me a while to remember that, myself).  The reason you didn't find the Lens of Truth yet is because it isn't on Big Island, but underneath Big Island.  Search the Big Island Sewerways to find the Lens of Truth.  ... Actually, I just remembered that there is one more (hidden) entrance:

Hidden Entrance to Big Island Sewerways:

When exploring the sandy area of Big Island to the west, in the northwest corner you'll find a shop and some Tektites. Push against the mountains and you'll find that part of it is walkable. Follow the invisible path to the next screen to the right, then feel along the north wall until you find a path that takes you north. Walk into the tree you see there, and burn the big tree in the middle of the screen. This is the official entrance of Big Island Sewerways.

 

The only catch to this is that, if you want to reach where the Lens of Truth is kept, you have to have the fire boomerang, so if you don't have it yet, use the swim warps that AirLuigi pointed out to you.

Also, I thought I'd point out:

Nearby Heart Piece:

Aaand... don't miss the hidden heart piece on the screen for the left swim-entrance to the sewerways!  Look for a short dead-end in the reef; dive there to get it.  If you don't pick it up right away, move down a little; if you're too high, you won't pick it up.  (I think you have to be on the lower half of the combo to pick up a dive-for item.)

in seafarer market, in the house with the old lady who talks about the lighthouse and the old man who talks about the underworld, i get frozen talking to the old lady.  happened twice now.  i think i have the most current version of the quest, and using 2.5.1 current version.

2.5.1 was launched recently, and we didn't tested it in that build. Use 2.5.0, the saves should be compatible, I suppose (copy/paste zc.sav from 2.5.1 to 2.5.0).

Anyways, Level 8 is looking really great! Easily my favourite dungeon so far.

Not sure if it's the same one, but there was an inescapable NPC for me too, using 2.5.0.

 

We will have to wait for Lightwulf then... In any case, don't use 2.5.1. The quest is beatable in 2.10, 2.10.2 and 2.5.0, that's for sure.
