I've got a lot of work cut out for me...

I'm going to attempt a Super Smash Bros. type quest that I think will be really unique! :) There are going to be nine playable characters along with several challenges to accomplish. But I don't think I will be able to really get going on it till the third. My dad's birthday is coming up so I'm going to try to make something for him. :)

I hope everybody's projects are going well! Have fun!

Oh, a smash bros quest! I wonder where you'll get 16x16 sprites of nine nintendo characters, but I hope you include final smashes attacks ;D

I'm not sure if I should make a zelda game or a scripted quest with very different gameplay.. Would everyone be okay if I do not make a normal zelda quest for this contest, like Strike does?

Ambitious, but it could really pay off. Best of luck to you!

Go ahead, do whatever you want. A non-Zelda game will stand out, which gives you a better chance of winning, probably.

I don't want to spoil what characters will be included but I'm having to make a lot of sprites. By tomorow I should have finished three characters so progress is going well. No Smash Balls and very little scripting which, honestly, I think the game will suffer from though I think it will still be a fun and challenging game nevertheless.

Must sleep.

So...It looks like I won't be making anything for this.

A lot of stuff is going to happen in those 2 weeks. I won't be around my computer.

I could make it so I have a little time, but at best I would have 5-7 days to work on the quest. : (

Good luck to everyone who does make something!

Grayswandir just wrote me up a script that will make Super Smash Bros. character system about ten times easier to implement. I've finished three characters and am almost done with four so progress is going very well. Having fun!

EDIT: Four characters have indeed been added. And I really am starting to like their mechanics though a scripted jump button will be essential. Going well!

I'm sorry to hear. If you really want to enter, Peteandwally and I could possibly arrange for you to still be part of the contest, just working on it in a different two week period. Maybe.

I'm going to have to drop out.

I feel that if I made the quest in two weeks, it'd suffer a quality drop. I'm still going to work on it...just not for this contest. :(

Alright, fair enough point. Good luck with your quest anyway.

Letting him work in another 2 week period is a nice idea.

I originally wanted to start thinking about my quest only when the contest started, but I got some ideas for my quest already. If I understood it right, we are at the moment allowed to draw graphics and also make scripts for our quest, right? Because I started drawing some tiles and playing around with some scripts today.

Yes, that's correct. You're free to draw tiles, write scripts, etc. Just don't start making screens until the contest starts.

Am I the only one losing motivation with time passing waiting to actually build? :-/

I think so. The more I wait, the more I plan out in my head and the more I get psyched up for how how cool it's gonna be. But hey, only two more weeks before the start.

I think it's because I have my game planned out for the most part...but I'm not really happy with it. I might drop out...

Same. I planned so much I'm too hyped. D:

...But then I found motivation to work on my main project... the only reason I signed up for this is to find motivation, now that I have a lot I'm going to have to drop out. Sorries. D:

I think Jared is right. Not being able to make screens is pretty demotivating.. I knew it would be best to decide what to do when the time comes and yet I still planned beforehand

Anyways, I will work on my other projects then, or take a break from zc ;)

At least we still have lots of participants, so it's gonna be fun.
